Many miss the fact that Faldo is the best ever British golfer and is not given the credit he deserves. In the days when European golfers played a lot in Europe he was able to go and win the Masters three times. A certain loudmouth European currently can’t do it once. ( that’ll be you Rory ! ). Oh, btw that was nothing like Ernie’s tempo. He was soooo slow and rhythmical yet developed so much speed. Nothing personal but you need to be built like Els to swing like him.
Tempo is everything, it’s one of my two swing thoughts. First one is not to sway off the ball but rotate the other is a smooth tempo. When I start on the range with wedges tempo is slow and strike is so consistent, as clubs lengthen I’ll get quicker and then I get out of synch and throw arms with an over the top swing. Slowing things down allows my legs etc to go first
Alex I watch a ton of TH-cam and you are my favorite instructor. You should be in the top 5 not just the top 50. When I first started playing at age 30 I studied up on tempo and rhythm in Percys book there is a great chapter on rhythm. I didn't really know about rhythm but I understood, tempo was easy. It made me a better player right away.
Thank you for another very helpful tip. After watching many of your videos I hope my scores will come down when the weather & ground conditions improve. Cold, poor weather & wet muddy fairways tend to increase the number of shots I need to complete 9 holes. I need to practise as well as watch your excellent tips.
This, together with the video showing how the the first part of the takeaway should work will be the basis of my work on the range and in the net until they are ingrained. I have a mat in the garden and I have been placing three small coins on it in the slight arc that you recommend.
Possibly your best tip. Long time ago I improved my game so much by going out with an old man who had such a sweet tempo. I just watched and copied. Played awful on Saturday. Today it's all about tempo🤞
My golf buddies were just talking about this the other day and the problem for me is simply remembering to do it, but it absolutely makes a difference. The golfer I watch that impresses me most with their tempo is Lydia Ko, I have watched her for a while because she's a fellow Kiwi, I am constantly amazed by how far and accurately she hits the ball with what seems like very little effort.
This is a great tip because nearly every golfer I play with all snatch at the top of their swing leading to bad transition which wrecks the swing and balance. Counting in your head one - two - three . take your time, slowly does it. The Ghost of Earnie els - imagine it
Tempo is a big one for me and consistent tempo, not trying to hit too hard, let the swing and the club do the work....fairway finder my main aim, not always distance. Cheers Alex
breath control = tempo control... slow exhale in back swing... fast at impact... you can easily train rate of exhale controlling tempo... enjoying the content. stay well!
A guy named Mike Wine marketed this drill and called it 3 seconds to better golf. I have it on VHS so that was right around Faldo’s hay day. It’s a great drill.
Funny I was at a clinic with Lisa Longball who is Longball champion in Canada and she said for tempo say Ern-ie-Eles when you start your takeaway. I have tried it and it works
For me: Si Woo Kim. Very deliberate backswing. Slows me down and pulls my club-head out at the backswing. Way more power in the “sling” from the swing.
New AEG video let's goo!!!! 🫡🫡🫡🫡 Hey something I've been struggling with this winter season has been club selection at the 100 yard mark and in. I have so much trouble feeling when it's time to switch from pitch to gap, gap to sand wedge, SW to lob etc. PLEASE HELP any advice would be stellar. Cheers!!
When to use your hybrid around greens when the ground is mud, hard and a good connection with an iron, (wedge) is tricky and can lead to thins and/or fat shots. Please. Tony Perrin.
I was able to get over that 'aggression' by not focussing on the back of the ball. I found that when I stopped hitting AT it and started hitting through it, the aggression vanished. There is however a tendency (with me at least) to get a little lazy in the swing now and I have to remember to hit through. Tempo focus did that for me
i tried swinging with a slow tempo in hope of improving accuracy. it made no difference to accuracy, the only change was my drives were 50-60 yrds shorter. watching mark crossfield pursue more impressive swing speed and driver distance really influenced my swing. now im at 116 club head speed and crushing it.
That was funny I watched this video with the subtitles on because the wife was reading. I didn’t want do disturb her. I realized your little error of course but when the subtitles came on they called him Valdo 😅.
Although i much prefer your video,s to watch and to learn from, i do swing like james robinson as i have a shorter back swing and alot of upper body strength... but like you i do have a cobra driver, the ltdx max has done wonders for my driving.
I definately struggle with tempo. Im always trying to find that little tweek that will help my game but im 99.99% sure tempo is my problem. Ill definately be trying these tips.
The importance of tempo is so underestimated, I had a good round going last week and blew it as my tempo failed me. Is there any guidance when that happens? The feet close together looks interesting. I’ll try that tomorrow Thanks Alex
Spot on, their swing speeds match most amateur players and so the game they play regard length of the tee is similar to men’s. Most of us gain absolutely nothing watch Rory, Speith Rahm etc hitting the majority of their shots they are way ahead of normal golfers and generate crazy swing speeds and distances
Alex keep up the great golf instruction. Sorry have to unsubscribe from The B9 channel though. Too much sensational stuff re LIV. Click bait is a bad look.
*For me the MISSING PIECE to your puzzle 🧩. Simply if you do this correctly you can get away with so much more*
Awesome tip brother
@@demonlord5770 thank you brother
@@AlexElliottGolf my pleasure bro play any golf today
It's better club speed no Center hits. Or Center club face hit with slower club speed?

This has help me slow down my back swing 🙂
Congratulations on 200k subscribers. Well deserved Alex.
Another great video. Can't wait to get to the range and practice 1 2 3 .......

Fred Couples has always been my model swing. Tempo is everything.
Thank you for another very helpful tip.

Alex eres un fenómeno. Sigo tus vídeos desde hace semanas y mi juego está mejorando. Eres un gran comunicador. Gracias y un fuerte abrazo
Glad you mentioned your status as a world Top 50 coach. I’d not heard it in the last few vids.
This, together with the video showing how the the first part of the takeaway should work will be the basis of my work on the range and in the net until they are ingrained. I have a mat in the garden and I have been placing three small coins on it in the slight arc that you recommend.
Great tip Alex, thanks 👍👍
Thanks Alex. That’s a great way of thinking about tempo. As always keep up the great work. We all appreciate it.
What a helpful hint very clearly explain going to put the test and I am sure it will fix my drive so much .... Thanks
Cant wait to try this when i play on wednesday 💪🏽💪🏽
Thx again for sharing

Best tempo thought I have is from VJ. Say the number 18 in the swing. The slight pause is perfect.
Tempo is a big one for me and consistent tempo, not trying to hit too hard, let the swing and the club do the work....fairway finder my main aim, not always distance. Cheers Alex
Crazy I now complete my golf swing all the time and it's helping me - even off the tee at my Pitch and Putt Course !
Thanks for the tips!
This is simply excellent, thanks!
Great teaching I’ve tried it and it’s a winner
breath control = tempo control... slow exhale in back swing... fast at impact... you can easily train rate of exhale controlling tempo... enjoying the content. stay well!
This is so true.
Watch Fred couples his swing is so smooth but hits it a long way..
Another simple but good advice. 👍
Another great lesson! Thanks!
A guy named Mike Wine marketed this drill and called it 3 seconds to better golf. I have it on VHS so that was right around Faldo’s hay day. It’s a great drill.
Nice tip thanks 👍👍
Thanks for this mate, will definitely try this a bit cause I sometimes struggle with tempo and rhythm as well
Funny I was at a clinic with Lisa Longball who is Longball champion in Canada and she said for tempo say Ern-ie-Eles when you start your takeaway. I have tried it and it works
Great to hear this `Cathy!!
For me: Si Woo Kim. Very deliberate backswing. Slows me down and pulls my club-head out at the backswing. Way more power in the “sling” from the swing.
Its does works beautifully Alex👍 thanks. Amazing with feet together too👍
You’re welcome 😊
Xander’s tempo, Cam Young’s follow through. 🙌🙌🙌🙌🔥🔥🔥
Great video Alex! I am currently copying Bob Does Sports' Fat Perez's swing tempo. It has helped me stay away from the trees with a driver
Played my par3 course yesterday with 8i and putter. Broke my personal best with a 28. Slow with tempo beats all
Vijay, Couples & Els on the range (side by side vid on YT somewhere). All of them hit the ball hard, but their tempo is impeccable 👍 Great video Alex!
I reduced my tempo, and my accuracy improved straight away, no more slicing 👍
Outstanding that 👏👏👏
Thank you! Cheers!
Ernie Ells has a silk swing, a way to go!✌
Alex, great video, just what's needed. Would be nice if you had tracer on your ball flights.
Well done alex 🏌♂️ 🙂 👍
Tempo and balance are the key to my golf swing
Great

I'm going to try this Thursday on my birthday 🎉

The missing piece I'm searching for is between my ears . 🤪🍻🇺🇲
Mine is the lack of money and time to practice
My tempo mantra is "1....2....follow through." It keeps me balanced and my swing is as smooth as I can be at my age.
our tempo trick is 'old men play golf' a strong message and use the first three syllable's on the back swing.
Els and Couples are tempo Gods !
I’ll try that tomorrow
Thanks Alex
Fred Couples and Annika Sorenstam are two that I think of when concentrating on tempo
They have great tempo’nnn
ENTERED
Here is another good method of improving tempo. The count of the Waltz. 123, slight pause, 456. 123=backswing. Slight pause at the top. 456 downswing.
Ha ha, Ernie Els is the tempo for my swing,
ERN-NIE-ELS, ERN back swing, NIE top of swing, ELS Downswing and follow thru.
Rhythm is the key👍🏻
Better swingpath, better ballcontact and control, more speed and length.
But i forget it so often and swing to hard🙈
George Knudson had a phenomenal swing. That is what I’m after!
Lydia Ko has the tempo I think about copying. Smoooooth golf swing
Yeah, Ernie. The Big Easy. I can see why you chose him. His swing looks so slow and easy.
Tempo is something that I completely overlook once I'm out on the course.
You haven’t changed to the Aerojet yet?
Sir Faldo 😂👍
Hahaha sorry Paul!!
So I'm guessing I shouldn't try to ghost Charles Barkley's swing. I really like Fred Couples. His swing looks so smooth.
Alex I played yesterday day and I still can’t make a divot with my irnos
I also say 1,2, follow through
Same swing thought I do. Er-nie-Els
Danny Maude!
Huh?
Edelweiss. Back swing Edel - downswing Weiss! Two syllables on way back, one on the way down. Works every time for me. Honest.
Great that you have a method!!!
I like max homas swing
I was pretty sure you meant Faldo and wrote Flado by accident. Don`t feel bad, I make mistakes too!
😅😅😅
Ernie Els 😎
Remember that Tempo can be fast and slow so don't change your natural speed when working on tempo.
100% this is a great point 🙏🏼
Best golf rythym is Fred Couples IMHO
I try to model Fred Couples
Watch the ladies play .. great tempo and swing
Entered 😂
I like Ernie Els' swing- uh, you just said it.
Moe Norman!
Like it
Colin Montgomerie never seems to get mentioned when talking about good tempo.
Just model Tom Watson
Swing like DeChambeau then you only have to count to 1 🤣
Hahahaha very good point
Haha..my sort of feet
Fred Couples tempo.
Get too aggressive esp. f/way woods on the ground dig a trench or top, then try to slow it down result a dibbler.
🏌🏌🏌🏌🏌
Nad Flicko?
Who’s Flado.
Nick Faldo! Great of the game
Flick Nado ?
what?
I copied Watson's tempo. As I watched him, I could see the three parts.
Alex keep up the great golf instruction. Sorry have to unsubscribe from The B9 channel though. Too much sensational stuff re LIV. Click bait is a bad look.
Hello michael! Great to hear you are enjoying the tips. Sorry to hear your not enjoying the Back 9 channel
