- Today we celebrate the 1st anniversary of our "Part of Your World" tribute video we made last year for the 30th anniversary of "The Little Mermaid" movie by Disney.
We worked hard to be as close as possible of the original movie, that's why we decided to create a side by side video.

« The Little Mermaid » (1989 version) has always been one of my favorite movies, I grew up with it and I’ve always loved the character of Ariel. She’s been an inspiration in my life and I guess she’s part of the reasons why I decided to make it my actual job. Today, as a professional mermaid, this is my way to celebrate the new movie, I love acting underwater as Ariel ! Obviously, I’m a white and red-haired person, which means that I only can embody the 1989 Ariel character, but I absolutely LOVE Halle’s version of the character and I love so much that many people can embody several versions of Ariel’s character ! 🌟
For having seen the new live action, I loved most of the movie and there is no doubt that Halle is a perfect Ariel ! She totally nailed it ! I love her so much in this role ! For those who didn’t see the movie yet, I’m sure you’ll be blown away as I’ve been by her beauty, talent and voice 💖🧜♀

How could you be a comparison to the live action the live action just came out and your videos have been out for years.
Some people probably are using it for racist reasons. There always is a few bad apples. But I'd say that the majority of people making the comparison just showing how you look the part of a real mermaid and the live action movie did not. You look natural in the water. You look like you're actually A real mermaid.
Probably do with you being a professional mermaid and the other person just being a singer, And mostly C***** cgi.
Some may not agree but personally for me. I think you did a better job expressing Ariel. The both of you are not in competition you existed before the live action movie.
The comparisons are made because you exist. And the live action movie for many is just not satisfying. So it's refreshing to see A real live version as a little mermaid actually portrayed ariel's personality and how she looks.
You are closer to what people are looking for and what we're expecting in the live action.

@@vylc1611 being me I would try to pet the shark and die in the intent LOL. But shark can be a prop or an animatronic or composited in the image later, I am old so I can from the era of practical effects. New live action was beautiful but all the crazy angles and cgi for every single thing and fast super heroes angles all the time is distracting to me. Yes, it's all beautiful and colourful and crazy angles precisely that, it doesn't feel exactly "real" (which it hasn't because it's a fantasy movie) I would understand a cgi shark but no need to render hair, tails and everything as they do today. Still better than in aquaman :/
ps. you might say, you're old lady... times have changed... and you know, you might be right LOL XD. My favourite movie is The Dark Crystal (all practical effects) though, I just like the realness of them.

I never noticed Flounder's reaction at 2:55 until this video. Wow, that said SOOOO many things (like how sorry he feels for Ariel pining that much and not having her dream; also, how sad he might be that Ariel wants another world and not their underwater one). Flounder communicated so much more emotion and story in 2 seconds than the whole 2-hours-20-minutes of the 2023 attempt to remake it.

Because I enjoyed the live-action 🥰 The reason I fell in love with Ariel wasn’t because she was white - there were plenty of white princesses and leading ladies before her, and her having red hair was never significant to her story. It was an afterthought because they wanted her to stand out from another popular mermaid who was trending with the hair color they were originally gonna give Ariel. Out of most the Disney’s princesses, Ariel has been one of my top faves because her being a mermaid with a siren voice made her unique and distinctly different from her white counterparts, imo. And ofc, her innocent and sweet-like personality stood out to me, and I could relate to her wanting to belong and unrequited love. And her story also led me to discover the original fairy tale that inspired her animated film. Although it ends on a dark note, I enjoyed it as much as the animated film. But regardless of which version, the little mermaid’s race and hair color never mattered to me, and wasn’t significant to her story. It was the fact that she was a mythical creature with an incredible voice and personality, and her story about unrequited love and longing to fit in that drew me to her, and that’s why she’s one of my favorites. It’d be different if her race and hair color was significant to her story, but it’s not, and it’s not why the character was my favorite anyway.

THIS is what we should have gotten. The hair alone demonstrated what we could have had, and yet, the funded live action doesn't compete.

Ariel’s hair isn’t important to her character, yes she stands out with red hair but her vocals is the main course.

Always love it when a creator puts their heart and soul into their project, and you've done that in SPADES. Really hope to see you and your crew tackle another scene from this film soon, like "Under The Sea" or "Poor Unfortunate Souls".
THIS is how you turn the classic animation to life. You truly recreated the MAGIC and ENCHANTMENT! That beautiful RED HAIR IN THE WATER is EVERYTHING!!!! Thank God, you got to use Ms. Jodi Benson's heart-and-soul classic portrayal of this beloved song. Wonderful production, especially the performer. I totally cannot imagine you with human feet anymore. That is how good you are. The swimming, and the "tiptoe" dance underwater, the circular swim with the camera above you, and the melting hair in 1:05. You truly captured and realized what has endeared Ariel to generations of people. YOU ARE ARIEL. This 3-and-a-half minute video has ALL THE SOUL AND HEART that is non-existent in the 2023 attempt to remake it. Disney fucking sucks.

This would be so incredibly difficult to do underwater. I kept thinking of moments she would naturally pause to take a breath between the lip syncing, but that she couldn’t because she’s underwater. I would drown trying to do this. Her performance is astounding.
