    0:32 there's a word for the change made to the melody here where the tone is changed by another background note even if the melody itself has not changed that i dont know but it's one that i greatly appreciate.

    I don't really understand the whole plot...
    So apparently Red is only an image that Pink portrays of himself to blame his wrongful actions. So...theoretically Red doesn't exist. So shouldn't everyone see Red as Pink, and call Red Pink at the beginning?
    The twist that Red is Pink at the end makes no sense.

    • @theantgre
      @theantgre 3 ปีที่แล้ว +69

      I agree that it's kinda confusing, but there's an extra ending in ng+ that explains most of it.
      Basically, Pink was the only one that could help and kill immortals, but he didn't have the strenght to kill his friends, so, he asked Dr. Orange to trap him inside a doll (red) that's controlled by a human (?) which is the player.
      This way he could achieve the willpower to liberate his friends.

      If you remember the part at the mirror in the castle, red says something along the lines of “you’re a monster” and “I trapped myself in this form to protect the others.” This would mean that pink trapped themself in the doll form (red) so that they would not be able to kill the others. You only get this understanding of why red called themself a monster and that they trapped themself in that form to save the others after you get your arm back and after red is revealed to be pink.

      @@awesomegamer4027 this is actually fitting in one way too. An immortal creature with view a mortal creature as a monster. Because it's different. An immortal cannot know death by age, but a mortal creature can. The concept of death to them seems infinitely terrifying, yet we live with it every day. It's still scary to us, but it's an inevitability. To them it's something that's optional.

    • @scientist784
      @scientist784 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@roetemeteor I personally thought that this whole thing can be a metaphor for someones suicide, as the "right arm" is usually a powerfull arm. And him destroying his friends is him slowly killing himself - his world... But that is just a theory.

    • @magnateze
      @magnateze 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Ok so basically, pink is pretty much a ghost that has the ability to kill immortals, in order to give themselves a corporeal form they have inhabited a red wooden doll, but you as the player also have been placed inside of this doll, allowing you to control both the doll, and pink, thus giving you the ability to kill immortals... i think

    I honestly didn’t think the game earned this ending, but I can’t deny that it’s powerful. It’s impossible to listen to this loop and not feel something.
    Also the way this game treats death is fucked and the pacifist ending is the only one that’s acceptable but that’s just me.

    • @skiepern
      @skiepern 2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Clearly you haven’t put much thought into the concept of immortality

    • @TDJunkie226
      @TDJunkie226 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      the part that gives this ending it’s weight is that all those murders, all the suffering you’ve caused is to free these scared, existentially bored immortals from the aeons of total sameness they’ve lived through. The talk with the forest spirit makes this theme extremely clear.

    • @TDJunkie226
      @TDJunkie226 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      The game isn’t telling you to kill yourself, it’s telling you that you should treat the limited lives we all have as a blessing, and that even though death is terrifying, living forever would make you lose your mind. It’s one of the most powerful messages any game has ever given IMO

    • @WhiteKnuckleRide512
      @WhiteKnuckleRide512 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@skiepernNormally this much blatant arrogance would just make you an asshole. Luckily for you, in this case it’s also relevant, because it explains why you don’t see any problems with deciding for someone else when the right time for them to die is.

    • @WhiteKnuckleRide512
      @WhiteKnuckleRide512 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@TDJunkie226The game doesn’t particularly say anything about how we should cherish our lives. You may choose to infer that from what it DOES say, but that’s entirely the player’s decision. What it does without a doubt have to say is about endings: “while endings are scary, when an existence stops holding value an ending is necessary to keep it from stagnating forever and to allow something new to take its place”. It’s a classic “letting go” narrative, and while in this case the game uses it talking about life, it’s obviously an idea that can be applied to anything. Life, a relationship, a video game. This is generally a pretty widely accepted take, and while using it in the context of ending immortal lives is more extreme than it’s normally used, it’s still an idea I support. If your life has gone on for long enough and there is no chance of you finding value again, you should end it. The problem is the game also says that it is your right, even your responsibility, to make this decision for others. The idea that saying to someone else “you may think you’re happy, but I know you’re actually not, so I’m going to kill you” is abhorrent, and just because you end up being right doesn’t justify doing it in the first place.
