So tricky to decide! Personally, I prefer the pattern as the accent turn over. It looks like the tiny Tailor of Gloucester stitched it, such perfect, teeny stitches! ❤
Oh wow, your comment has just taken me back in time to being little and watching the animated Tailor of Gloucester at Christmas. It was my favourite of the Beatrix Potter tales. Thank you for bringing that memory back to me. ☺️
The finished cover looks lovely, when making bedding I add a folded piece of tin foil in between the layers to help fold and shape when in place. It was a great tip from little Gretchen. I’ve also tried to soak the fabric in watered down pva and positioned in place over a piece of plastic until it dries. It does look invisible when dry but I found that a bit messy so prefer the foil. I love either fabric but the pattern looks more like a top blanket with the gold sheet. ❤❤
It turned out very pretty! FYI: some people use a solution of glue and water to wet down the fabic and then keep it pinned down how they want it to lay and let it dry. See "Little Gretchen's (Workshop?)" I've also seen people use aluminum foil inside between the layers of fabric. Then it can be shaped and reshaped to your heart's content. 😀
Thank you! Yes, I’ve seen Little Gretchen do that too! It looked fab when she did it… but I’m nervous to give it a try 😅. Aw, foil inside would have been a wonderful idea… I’ll have to keep that in mind for if I ever made another bedsheet!
You did a beautiful job stitching that - looks perfect! I like the dotted side up but either would be pretty. You could make a pillow case or throw pillow in the gold or dotted fabric. I think a few balls of museum wax could be used for the fold down part and to affix it to the bed frame so you wouldn't have to glue it and could flip it over. The museum wax can be removed easily. I kind of cringe when people make beautiful furnishings for their houses and then glue them down. You also might be able to make some weighted tassels for each of the 4 corners with beads or those little round magnetic disks that are used for pocketbook clasps, or use a steam iron and press the fold down part and the sides onto the bed.
Thank you - you’ve just given me so many great suggestions! I’ll try ironing the cover into shape dirt and, if that doesn’t work, I’ll give some of your other options a try! I like the kind of weighted tassels!
Aw, that’s a shame! We have one that’s fairly new and has a nice range of stock. I love popping in each month for our knit and stitch sessions. In fact, the next one is this Sunday… I best have a think about what I’ll make!
Yes, the silk looks like lining more than the more substantial fabric. I wonder why so many people glue or, in your case, sew the bedding in shape. Ironing can do wonders to set fabrics to one's wishes.I like to change the bedding for the seasons and such, so Ironing and an occasional starching will suffice to make the right contours that may be altered to your whim. Your stitching workes beautifully and the color choices are lovely.
Thank you. I’m hoping that ironing the sheets will work… the fabric is just a little bit thick. If not, I’ll just pop some tiny invisible stitches in. Thank you for taking the time to comment.
👋🏻 hello I absolutely love your little videos I’m fairly new to dolls houses and making my own furniture and miniatures for my dolls house so I really enjoy watching you make things. I love the Tudor style of your dolls house ❤ My dolls house is a replica of my own house right down to the paintings 🖼️ on the walls 🤩 Your bedsheet? I really like the pattern as the main part with the silk turned back to show a glimpse of it Keep making your videos, they are lovely to watch and very inspiring Best wishes Karen x
Wow - what a lovely comment! Thank you so much. Your doll’s house sounds great - I love the idea that you’re making your own house and belongings… you’ll be surrounded by so much inspiration! Please let me know how it goes, and keep me updated on what you’re making! ⭐️
🎉what a great idea I didn't know Dunelm did things like groups . I'm not sure if the one nearby does the same thing . 🎉 id say gold on top as they would like to show off their wealth . 🎉
Our group is advertised on a poster in the cafe - so it might be worth having a look or asking a member of staff if you’re interested. I really enjoy it. It’s nice to socialise and see what everyone else is creating!
@@thelittlemouseshouse I'd love to but I'm agraphobic sadly but I hope in the future I can . My joy in life is my crafts and I wish in the future I will be able to share my joy 😊
Aw, thank you! If you do make one, have a look through the comments first because there’s some great suggestions on how to shape the bedsheets. They mostly involve putting items (like foil or wire) in between the two pieces of fabric. I’d action peoples suggestions if I was to make another one. Hope that’s helpful! Happy sewing!
I would do the pattern fabric facing up, gold silk facing down. Imagine lying in the bed, seems like the gold silk would be what would be most comfortable touching the body! Amazing Job!
I like the spotty side showing as you have it at the end of the video. You could iron it into the shape you want, that way if you change your mind on how you want it to sit/lay all you need to do is re-iron it
😊This was so much fun to watch, and wow, your stitching skills are impressive! The fabrics are lovely and you really can’t go wrong, whichever you choose. I’m wondering if you could embed a couple of tiny magnets into the sides of the bed and then run some flat wire into the cover, or something of that nature? Although the sewing is much more likely, isn’t it😂. Anyway, well done , and thanks for another beautiful video.
Thank you! They’re great ideas for me to make the bedsheet able to flip over! I think it may be a bit late now though… magnets in between the two pieces of fabric would have been perfect!
There you go patience and perseverance prevents poor performance! It would be good to be able to flip the sheet when the fancy takes you. Both sides are too nice not to be able to fully appreciate. At first I thought about magnets, then a kind of weighted table runner lying across and overhanging. However, the best idea your Devon posse can come up with is that you could slip a length of weighted metal inside between the sheets along the edge, which would do the trick. As for the strange goings on in the darkest hours, well, you do have a spooky resident! And as things have been 'disturbed', I believe you may have summoned a Tudorgeist! Woooooaaaaaah! 😂
🤭 Your comment really made me laugh! Thank you for all of your suggestions! There’s lots of great ideas there… I think I need to give some more thought into my next steps!!
Wow you did a fine job with the tiny stitching I like the gold on top but I'm a bit of a magpie which ever way you decide to have it I think it will look splendid.
Yours and @MrBonesSews are the ones that finally got me to start my own attempt at a little house - for my own little Boney couple. 🥰 As the Boney's are approx. 1/18 scale, finding items has been quite the search, some items posted as '1/24' & '1/12' scales are not quite what they seem, and not everyone posts the actual dimensions of the items 😮💨 As for the house itself, can't get a Lundy house anywhere nearby, as that is the closest size to 1:18 without looking way too small or somehow too large (as I want to have it sitting on the edge of my work desk), so mapping out one with foam board for now to work on room sizing of a mid-century style build, then to decide later on if I want to attempt it in wood once I have it to my liking. Watching you gives me hope!
Oh wow! This sounds like such an exciting project and I’m so excited for you! I can’t wait to hear about your progress, and I’m sure the right house will find you! 🧡
@thelittlemouseshouse was poking around d on Etsy and found a shop in the UK right up your alley: PoppetsDollyBits They sell wallpaper and flooring sized down to different scales from fabric prints, and I saw lil Tudor items as well!!!🥰 I may be having a few sheets of 'retro wallpaper' sent over the pond to me ❤
This turned out to be absolutely beautiful! I think most people said that they liked the spotted fabric, but I really like the gold! Such a beautiful shimmer. You did such a lovely job with the stitching!
Thank you! I’ve had some great suggestions to make the bedsheet able to be flipped round and changed… although they mostly would involve unstitching to put something in between the two pieces of fabric. 🤭
Fabulous! I don’t often sew, but my mum is always doing sewing projects. I really enjoyed sewing this mini bed sheet - I found it a really relaxing project!
