8kg Venom & Giant river fish

- Here is a mash up of some big river Murray cod caught on what I believe is the true all-round fishing rod, the 7ft - 8 KG Venom.
You can throw a variety of lures from half ounce spinnerbaits all the way up to Bassman Wakewalkers which is a wide range of lure weights.
Some solid fish and bites too well done. Making me itch to hit the rivers again

Thanks Mate 😃 as for reels l love my old made in japan D series cuardo's in either 5.0.1 gear ratio for spinnerbaits or 6.3.1 for surface fishing they have were a real workhorse but hard to get now, so I've gone to the 300 curado K, they are the same as the tranX without the price tag, 4.7 gear ratio for sub surface and 6.3 for surface lures..... I do try different reels from time to time but try to be brand loyal stick to what works for me.

You must like to put some speed on those surface lures.
@@exaygeetee9454 I like them just ticking over but with surface in the faster currant sometimes you need a bit of speed to keep them out of the timber.
Great clip Ray and beautiful looking fish. I’ve got the 8kg Venom but only new to cod fishing as I live on the coast and haven’t caught a cod on it yet but have caught cod on the 8kg cork bait caster and the 2-4 PE 6’3 crank bait . They’re great rods . I’ve had a number of high end rods but I’ve sold them and replaced them with Venom rods . Really durable, heaps of power and Australian built .

Thank Neil and it is, l really miss what we had.
The Murray and Edwards are still both in minor flood, high and dirty, probably ok for bait fishing and a bit of trolling in places but I'm taking a break to get some other jobs done until it settles down.
