At 27 I've only been smoking cigars for about 4-5 yrs now. I always thought cigars were a luxury for rich old men so I never smoked them at a cigar lounge. One day while purchasing a few at a local lounge an older man recommended I try a Fuente cigar, and had a long conversation about cigars while smoking the Fuente and as I sat there I saw many people come in and out both young and old and of all walks of life getting to meet these people while smoking cigars helped me realize that the experience is more than just puffing on rolled tobacco. It's the work it takes to make one from seed to packaging, selecting, cutting, lighting, and enjoying the smell and aromas. It's the friendships and bonds you develop with people you meet and smoke with. Listening to war stories of old war veterans, the struggles of life, advice, and joking. Whenever I smoke a cigar my problems can all take a backseat for those 1-2 hrs and despite trying many many different types of cigars, Arturo Fuente is hands down my favorite and watching this video makes me appreciate them so much more.
What a story! Looking forward to purchasing my first Fuente cigar and showing the upmost appreciation and token of gratitude for the obstacles they overcome for almost a century. Wow! Just amazing!
I had the pleasure of Speaking with Carlito Fuente about 6 months ago. What an AMAZING Guy. Larger than life in many people's eyes but still as down to earth as any common man you will ever meet.
I have never been a cigar smoker..but im blown away by this video... a great family and proud that their americans...they shown the dedication to their craft...god bless...
For now on when i smoke a......A.FUENTE...CIGAR....My choice is the A.Fuente ...Grand Reserva Maduro.....your family story will be in my mind and heart with rich flavor and patients to enjoy what your family has brought forth in the cigar world.........R.I.P......Mr.A.FUENTE.....
The best part for me, besides the excellent quality of every Fuente cigar, is the fact that we still receive the personal attention and care from the Fuente family today as people received back at the beginning starting with Arturo Fuente. Their website (tampasweethearts.com) based out of Tampa is where I still buy most of my Fuente cigars, and wouldn't you know, I receive a nice hand written card from Arturo Fuente, Jr addressed to me. Where else are you going to receive that little touch of decency in business today? It isn't too often it happens, and I am grateful and humbled by the experience. What a fantastic family.
I absolutely love Fuente cigars always have. Fuente was my first step into smoking real cigars and a brand favorite of mine to this day. The story behind the family is just as amazing as the cigars that bear their name. Much love Fuente Family.
Amazing story behind the Arturo Fuente brand. I never knew that so much sweat and sacrifice was involved in the making the "Arturo Fuente Rothchild", my very first cigar. Next time I hold an Arturo Fuente cigar in my hand, I'll do so with much more respect as I proceed to reduce it to ashes. Your cigars are truly delicious smokes. Looking forward to more A. Fuente events....
I have smoked Fuente Cigars since the Early 90s. They are the most consistent Flavor year after year and rolled to perfection. My fav is the Anejo, and King and Queen B Sun Wrapper. Used to buy Opus x for less than 10, then 15, now it 30 plus.
I just started smoking cigars a few weeks ago . My first was a Hemingway classic and I was hooked . The best ! Watching the story was an inspiration and I understand why their cigars are so good ! Perseverance !!
Wow. what an inspirational story. I admire this family for holding up against everything they witnessed. My first ever cigar got to be Fuentes and it would be a great pleasure and honor for me.
Wow, I had no idea of the shear struggles this family went through. It would have been so easy to give up, and then we would've never heard of them...makes me wonder how many other people ALMOST made it, but gave up before they did.
That was amazing. I would buy boxes of these in the early 90’s, then when the prices rose I went to a less expensive cigar but always grabbed a Hemingway when a special occasion. I did not know this story and just assumed the the prices went up because of Cigar Afficianado magazine making cigars popular. Seeing what this courageous family went thru and endured has changed my thinking and I plan on spending the extra money to make them my go to cigars now.
My great grandmother rolled cigars in Ybor City when she came over from Spain. Smoked them too. Lived to 93 years old. If you haven't been to cigar City Ybor, you are missing out on cigar history. The area has changed with the times, but there is still great Cuban coffee, food at the historic Colombia restaurant, and many cigar shops where cigars are still hand rolled. The Fuente name is still prevalent in Ybor City today. They have a shop and lounge that are worth a visit. Have a cigar with one of the family there!
My first ever cigar was an Arturo Fuente Anejo. My father in law bought me one in Las Vegas and we smoked them and drank mojitos with freshly crushed mint leaf. That experience made me a huge fan of their cigars and cigars in general.
I too have enjoyed this video, the quality of Arturo Fuente was apparent to me the first time I smoked one. I know that I keep some in my humidor at all times. Having watched this video I'm sure I will think of it at times when I am enjoying my favorite.
What a great story. I was smoking Arturo Fuente When the Opus X came out. It was to high priced for me, So I never got to smoke it. But know most all cigars are out of my price range. Since I retired, Not enough money for such Things. But I still have my memories of smoking a good Arturo Fuente Cigars. Be leave it or not when I was smoking them they were 1.00 each. LOL That wasn't the top of the line cigar for them, But still a good cigar for sure. I miss those days.
#1 Cigar ,great people as well...had the honor to meet them while in Philadelphia at a cigar shop, Holts.........what a place . A must to,for any cigar smoker. Till we meet again..............
"In those days, a man was a man" ~ C.Fuente Jr.
