Cigars are art in one of its purest forms. The effort it takes to make one is insane. Farmers tending daily, fermenting and aging, blenders painstakingly sifting through different batches of leaf from different countries, rolleros rolling. It amazes me and makes me happy.
I love it, now I'm going to try and grow tobacco this year. Fermentation scares me a bit, but I have years ahead of me to figure it out. I think I'll appreciate the process of learning
this is one of the best, maybe the best documentary i‘ve seen on this platform yet. not at all into cigars i was only curious to learn how tobacco plants were grown and i stumbled upon this masterpiece. cinematography, storytelling and sentiment are on point. this is much appreciated. please netflix sign this human to produce all sorts of documentaries!
I have grown my own tobacco and roll my own cigars. I followed cuban master roller or " torcedor" Tim Torres. In his words, a cigar should be able to be smoked in a properly applied binder alone , the wrapper is " like a dress on a beautiful woman. " thats like poetry.
The best place to work and smoke!!! Even the rollers, farmers, warehouse's staff, quality control staff, smoke a cigar while handling the cigar!! My place of Work
This is like a David Attenborough breakdown. I love the Davidoff videos from Bespoke and I really enjoyed this as well. Much information to gleam and try ones hand at. An art I hope we never lose to time.
5:38 ...the farming skill is maxed out! Look at all the broken concrete in that "soil". Its amazing that anything grows at all let alone top shelf tobacco - almost unbelievable. 🤤
Great video. Very informative and well done. There's no way I have the patience to do this myself, I'd have been picking everything prematurely, rushing the process and ruining everything. I can appreciate craftsmanship when I see it.
I cut "baccer"in Kentucky interesting how we harvested it. we faced a certain direction ( not sure if this was his fobia ) used a tomahawk type hatchett and cut close to the ground, took the stalk and mashed it to the stake. 5 per stake. then we hung the stakes on a tractor pulled wagon ( especially made for baccer hangin )we took them to the the barn and hung them. he said his baccer was sold as type c and would bring in the going price but not a great price.
100% The U.S. very mistakenly lumps fine cigar tobacco with that of cigarettes which is highly molested with hazardous chemicals. A well grown and fermented cigar variety leaf is akin to well aged and prepared prime rib beef...whereas cigarettes, more like a mcdonalds hamburger . Way over processed .
i'll never forget we were talking about smoking with a teacher and he's going on and on about how gross it was then I said what about cigars and he said well let me put it like this a cigarettes' is like taking someone's ass and rubbing it all over your face he said but cigars have class and making a cigar is an art. mr saddler if you're out there thank you for steering me down the right road cigars.
im 21 just got into cigars recently and i fuckn LOVE the shit out of them. i got me a humidor and have it full of different varieties. the aj fernandez and las Calaveras ones are probably my favorite for now. plenty more to try soon tho!
I'd say that probablt half of the cigar smokers in the world have no idea how much aging time, and actual labor goes into every single cigar. I've been smoking cgars for 40 plus years, and even though i don't care for mild cigars, A Davidoff every once in a great while is nice. I've tried their "stronger, more full bodied blends, but they're still not there for my taste. I've had a bunch of AVO stuff over the last year or three that are mostlu Nicaraguan and those things are the real deal. I believe Kelner makes them as well, the dude he makes Davidoffs.
use burley and air cure and ferment it for cigars i rolled some own cigars with burley, wrappers looked like crap but tastes just like south american long fillers
Cant really say i am excited about the product, as i never ever smoked, smoking was seen as a sign of personal weakness and weak mind where i come from. but i do recognize the effort and time put into this, so let me ask you: if you dont put so much effort into getting people addiced to smoke, but into art, research, proper landusage without soil degradation and literally anything else, wouldnt you be more or equally successfull???
WTF!?!??!?.....
@@stageiiwappie950 I have no idea what point your trying to make. But obviously you missed the point of this whole video where the entire process exists to make it more than “just a leaf” your funny.
I don't know if I like the idea that half the workers are blowing smoke on all the leaves. There's also no use of gloves. Sanitation issues? I mean it is a consumable product. Do they even wash their hands? They'd shut that place down in America lol. Thank God there's no rules over there tho cuz I like me a good cigar.
Horrible. Tobacco should never be commercialized this way. Its not the same quality and taste no matter how much they claim it to b… and all for the sake of profits.
THIS IS THE BEST BREAKDOWN OF CIGARS EVER!
Wait some of the best tobacco leaves are grown in the State of Connecticut, in the United States.
@@marctemura2017 Connecticut wrapper is the best in the world...filler and binder not
@@jon44602 Yeah, some best cigars have a connecticut wrapper but have a Dominican or Nicaraguan filer.
LOUD NOISES!
@@marctemura2017shade grown, it makes the leaf grow thinner, and more elastic , critical for a quality leaf.
It really gives you a sense of awe and true appreciation for the time, work, experience and passion that goes into making a cigar.
For an 8 year old video the cinematography is insane; it felt like watching a mini movie.
Can’t say the same for the narration
what do you think they only came out with 1080p and camera work in the last two years?

Very, very excellent video ! I didn’t realize so many people handled my cigar before I put it in my mouth !

Amazing, i have so much appreciation for the skilled workers, bravo 👏
Wow nice breakdown. Love seeing the workers sampling the product and from all the ageing guess that's why bourbon goes so well with cigars.
This was 100% beautiful!!!

by any chance do you have the subtitles to this video, some of the spanish words the narrator tries to say are unintelligible

Davidoff is overhyped and overpriced, most brands are better and cheaper than Davidoff.
Like?
Which brands are you referring to. Tobacco is a high labor intensive product
All that just for some dudes improperly light the cigar and ruin it

Do nothing and you too can own a cigar company. You've only got to do nothing after all.
