I've heard a lot of people are frustrated by the behaviour of Yuffie. But I like her energy and I think it's on point because she's 16 so she's supposed to be cringe and find others cringe lol. I like her happiness.
I love how silly she is a lot of the time the joke is on her but she means well. I already liked her loads in the original but this is a whole other level.
I think what makes her great is how much she truly cares. When you make it to the end and she no longer is talking about materia, but just wants to save Aerith. 😢
@@thatstheway2429 It's consistent with the original game. She tries to make it look like she's only in it for materia and has no loyalty to the group. When she breaks down and cries while Cloud hugs her it's absolutely heartbreaking and shows her true nature.
What yuffie doesn't know is Rufus is the leader of avalanche and the reason he doesn't like barretts crew is they blew up the reactors its all kinda symmetry in a way( Rufus started it as a way to eliminate daddy and have deniability )
Also it wouldn’t surprise me if Rufus was also working as the leader of wutai as sarruf has never been seen publicly and during one of their (rufus and not glen) discussions they also not so subtly imply that rufus is sarruf( maybe I’m wrong but it just feels like that’s where that plot line is going)
I am a little bit mixed On another hand Yuffie immaturity, motion sickness and adorableness does make for entertaining character and one can groan at her but not really dislike. She is after all loyal to her country and she really can be just a kid. It’s just that her behavior in cosmo canyon and the immense focus on materia rubs me a little the wrong way. I feel she is naive if not a bit foolish in thinking a war would solve anything. All this seems to be set up for a final character development for Yuffie, specially ones she learns about what really happens in Wutai.
I think that that is what they are portraying, she is naive and foolish, but also very adorable and loveable. She will learn what really happend in Wutai in the next game and it will be heartbreaking, just like any other part in this amazing saga.

Aerith has the wishy-washy I like you but I foresee my own death “don’t fall in love with me” dynamic. Yuffie’s dynamic is one of mutual social incompetence and a unreciprocated crush.
