Tried and failed miserably to make any form of adjustment.Got as far as getting the screwdriver through the felt but couldn’t seem to find the screw to make an adjustment. About five times I thought I did it but nothing lol. Any advice?

GREAT tutorial. I have had this turntable for several years and noticed it played fast, more noticeably on some records than others. Dude....I've had this turntable for a while, and I'm a guitar player. So, I instantly heard the records we're too fast (sharp). Watched this tutorial, then made a few adjustments, and had it in tune right away. I threw RPM app on my phone, and first go round it read 33.28. So, THANK YOU!!!
Thanks man! I just managed to fix mine. It was spinning at 34 and 47rpm. At first I used the smallest screwdriver I found at home but apparently it was still too big for it. Then I borrowed one from a friend, and I got it right. And it is just how people are saying: you poke the fabric, and you feel when it fits on the screw. You're gonna know it if it's in the right place. For those who underestimated the size of it like me, I used a flat 1.4mm (about 1/18") screwdriver.

I have a perfect pitch and so I was went nuts since the playback that came out of my AT-LP60XUSB was out of tune and didn't match the pitch standard of A440 etc. I just googled 'pitch "audio technica" tune turntable" - and I was lucky to come across this video as the first result. I just followed the very clear steps, and voila! Now I can play my piano with the LP in my retuned turntable without that annoying dissonance. You're my lifesaver. It was worth inventing the internet (and TH-cam in particular) for such great tutorials. Thank you so much!
so glad I found this video- what a lifesaver! Worst part was I'm embarrassed to say that I hadn't even noticed before my daughter came home with some new Taylor Swift vinyl and she knew right away they were too fast. First, we messed with the belt, but everything really looked fine. Wasn't until we found the rpm app to measure the speed, (and then knew she was correct-about 2.4% too fast), and your video that we got to the bottom of it, and were able to re-calibrate the turntable. Taylor sounds great again and all is right with the world. Thank you!
For the next poor soul who stumbles across this fix and only sees felt and no screwhole: You have to kind of press the the tip of the screwdriver "through" the felt. If the RPM suddenly jumps to 60-70 you are touching the actual adjustment screw under the felt. The pressure makes it go haywire, which makes sense because teeny tiny adjustments seem to make a big difference in terms of measurable RPM. Remove the screwdriver and gently stop the spinning plate with your hand, when the plate is up to speed it will turn at to the RPM it's actually on. I discovered this by trial and error on my Denon DP-200 USB and it was consistent. You might have turned the adjustment screw far enough to not notice a change at first, there seems to be a threshold and in that case the plate will spin significantly faster (and yeet your phone across your desk) when the screw is touched, but it will not go lower or higher at first. Just keep going at it in small steps. Remember the mnemonic: righty tighty lefty loosey. Turn to the right -> higher RPM. Turn to the left -> lower RPM. Good luck!

Thanks for this. My smallest flathead screwdriver has a very thin blade and is about 2 mm wide. This was too big. I ended up taking a piece 1/16" (1.58 mm) thick wire rod and grinding it down to make a screwdriver. I also reduced the width to about 1 mm. This did the trick. It takes quite a bit of force to turn the screw so you don't have to worry about accidently turning it as you're turning the screwdriver to find the slot. Mine was at 34.14 rpm. I got it down to 33.33 with three adjustments. I doubt I turned the screw more than an 1/8th of a turn.
I had a computer motherboard toolset that had a screwdriver thin enough to work. Really hope AT sees this video and makes this easier to adjust since it is such an issue

I had heard it was possible to adjust but I heard that it could potentially destroy your player if you weren’t careful so I was hesitant to do it. You explained it PERFECTLY and gave me the confidence to try it. I used an eyeglass screwdriver like you suggested and turned it only a tiny bit each time. Now it’s dialed in PERFECTLY and my records sound WAY better! Thank you!
My Sony LX300USB was running fast (it must be cloned from the AT-LP60 as they're virtually identical). Your fix worked! The adjustment holes are on the bottom and your technique worked like a charm. Thank you so much!
Dude. I have had this turntable for three years and always thought I got ripped off or I was going crazy because every album sounded a little to fast. My old 1970's Technics turntable never had this problem but also had an easy way to adjust if things got a little off speewise. Today, I found you. Took me a whole bunch of tweaks and a download of an app to measure turntable speed.But worth it. Amazing. Thanks!
Thanks, man! My AT-LP60XBT was spinning a wee bit too fast, w/ the pitch raised a couple of cents as a result. I never looked at the underside of my turntable that much before, but the two holes were there, same as the older LP60! Used a 1.4mm flathead screwdriver and that Turntabulator app (well worth 3 bucks), and had it down to the ideal speed in only 4 attempts! Thanks again!

giving this video some love bc wow it works!! I thought my records sounded slightly faster than normal, I assume it's from transporting my turntable during a recent move. Went from 34.23 RPM /+2.70% to 33.97/ +1.92%, not sure if that's the "normal" range but it sounds SO much better. you're a lifesaver!

As a perfect pitch guy, I can now finally fix my at-lp3! I boundht it second hand and with this, I discovered that it was running at 33.7~34 rpm. I fixed it now. I am happy. Thank you sir.
Thank you for this video, I just picked up an Audio-Technica AT-LP60 for $30 at a local Goodwill, after I put in a fresh belt, it was running at bit fast, like 38-39 RPMs. Very help, now my records sounds great.

After over 30 minutes of frustration…it worked! I am so happy you have no idea, I bought it a new belt because that’s what I was told to do so I was about to upgrade when I didn’t want to. I actually place the turntable so it would be partially hanging off the table, and adjusted the speed from the bottom while watching RPM in the app. It really helped. Took me less than 3 minutes to fix. Thank you!
Thank you so much, omg. This worked perfectly!!! I got a used player recently and it saved me from buying a new belt thinking it was the reason and/or having it serviced to a third-party repair shop. It was initially playing at 34 and 47. Another tip for those who don’t have a teeny tiny screwdriver- I used a cheap angled tweezer (those with tiny pointed tips instead of the usual wide flat ones) often used for putting on lashes and/or stickers (crafting). It can be easily bent to keep one out of the way while you use the other to poke through the hole. It also has a flat bottom that can be gripped easily versus a bobby pin that’s just gonna slip in your fingers. It was a struggle to locate the screw blindly (I even thought I wasn’t doing anything ‘cause I couldn’t feel a screw twisting) but I was able to get it synced very close to 33.3 and 45 in just two tries! I now have newfound appreciation for my record player ‘cause it no longer makes my records sound Chipmunky 😂
Guys, for everyone who has LP-3 model - it works too! Just get a really small crosshead screwdriver, poke the felt a couple of times and use as video instructs. There are no “buttons” as some other posts on the web might say. It’s screws. The RPM tester in the video is called Turntabulator, it’s relatively cheap.

It's been a really long-time anxiety and uncomfortable to listen to my vinyl when it plays 0.1x faster than usual. The sound could change, and it would be a little different. Just about to give it up and get a new vinyl player, this tutorial came up and saved my ass! Thumbs up 👍👍

I was able to adjust my RPM using a 2mm-wide bit on my multi-bit mini-screwdriver -- not a specialist item by any means. Took me maybe 6 or 7 adjustments to get to get it right. Thanks for the straight-forward explainer!
Thanks for the video! Some tips for those with the LP3 (slightly different and I've just spent 2 hours of trial and error trying to figure this out...) It is Flat head, not Phillips like some other models. If you try to adjust while the record is playing, touching the terminal will cause extreme speed changes, so as painful as it is you will have to stop/start between every adjustment. Now for the weird bit... 33RPM hole is anti clockwise to speed up, clockwise to slow down. 45RPM hole is anti clockwise to slow down, clockwise to speed up. You need a TINY screw driver (like glasses size) and you will know when you're in the slot. If you're not sure, you're not in. Hope that helps!
This is a really helpful video, thank you for posting it. I'm not here to bash the LP60, it is what it is, and I loved mine for a good, long while. The trouble with the speed adjustment is this: once fixed, it doesn't stay fixed. I had mine set perfectly, three months later we were back to Alvin and Chipmunks. Fix again, fix again, fix again. Eventually, I turned the screw and it no longer "bit." We were done, and it was time to buy a new turntable. A pity. It frustrates me they can't get this small matter right; I would have given the LP60 to a family member, but now it's landfill.

blimey, you are not wrong about those adjustments, you don't need much! My LP60 was measuring at 34.6 RPM and it was really annoying me, so I followed your instructions and managed to get it down to 33.5 which is close enough for me. It was very noticable before, but now the music sounds right. Thanks..

Thanks for the good vid. This applies to several turntable manufacturers. The clockwise turn of the screwdriver makes the turntable go faster is very helpful. Unfortunately, I can not seem to get the potentiometer to rotate on my Sony turntable.

It worked! Got it to 33.2. It’s hard to get it precise without overshooting the mark. At first I was using a screwdriver slightly too big and could not find the slot. But a 1/16 inch or 1.5 mm flat head screwdriver does the trick. One suggestion is if you have a removable screwdriver tip to just hold it in your hands rather than using the handle so you have more control over finding the notch and also in turning it gently.
Thank you boss, this did the trick on the LP60X model too!! I had no idea those holes were on the bottom but it was basically exactly what you described in the video. I was doing 34.51 RPM and it was driving me crazy because the songs were a tiny bit too fast and the pitch was off so I couldn't play along on piano. Gave it a lil twist and got it to 33.41. Now when I play the root note to the songs on piano I can tell it's on key. Thank you so much!!!
i have this turntable and it has no issues at all with the speed or anything else. it worked perfectly out of the box and still does after one year of use. the video must talk of an older model and they probably fixed the issues in the new lp60 sold in stores.
This is exactly why I opted for a direct drive AT turntable this year instead. I've had to adjust this AT model and now a Sony for my dad with this exact problem, and I'm happy to pay twice the price for the privilege of never having to tweak the speed with a screwdriver again.

Thank you so much,! I finally had the courage to try it and it really solved it. I used a 1.2mm screwdriver, just a tiny bit of a turn to the left and it went from a 34.9 rpm to a 33.2. :) so glad! Had this issue with 2 different AT60, even returned the first one. Worked perfectly for me, with this fix, this time
tried to use a 1mm screwdriver head and got it to turn the speed down the first time, then it was too low and i spent like 2 hours trying to get it to go back up to no avail. i thought i completely broke the screw the first time or something. then had an epiphany and tried a 1.5mm and instantly felt a difference and fixed it within 5 minutes lmao. thanks for the video. new lp60x shouldn't have this issue right out of the box but sadly I did and I thought I was gonna have to warranty it out and get it replaced.
Thank you for this!! I just don’t know how to tell when the screw driver “catches” the screw I busted through the felt but I still can’t see anything to check the position of it
It took me like 40 minutes but I got it. Just apply ample amounts of pressure and you should feel this faint little catching on your screw. And push hard when you're screwing or else it might come loose.
Screwdriver might be slightly too big. I had to use a 1/16” flat. It’s very hard to tell but if you can’t just try to turn it and see if the speed is different. If not try again. Took me a few tries.
This was happening to me, too. The trick for me was finding a screwdriver with a small enough bit that was also narrow enough to push through far enough into the screw. The one I had been trying had a narrow enough tip but the shape of the shaft of the screwdriver made it catch on the housing before it could engage the screw. I also tried turning the screw with the turntable spinning (yes I realize the electric shock hazard) by putting it on a surface with gaps underneath that I could reach through. This seems to work, except that a magnetized screwdriver head makes the turntable go crazy (spinning extremely fast when the magnet is near, fast enough to toss your phone that you're using to measure RPM across the room). Just something else to look out for.

Thanks to the comments in the videos I managed to fix my AT LP3. It was going at 5% faster and I managed to bring it down to -0.4%!! 1.4 mm screw driver is key I couldn’t do it with a 2mm screwdriver When they say small turns. I think it’s more like microscopic turns ! Almost impossible to get it at 0%

I have extremely good hearing pitch; the 34 1/2 RPM was *really* throwing me. I bought my player in 2018 and used it probably 8 times total because I just couldn't handle it. This video Really made my day.
Dude, thank you so much! I applied this same fix to my own cheap record player (Welling F700) which has always spun a little too fast. Same little screws in pretty much the same place. I didn't use a strobe or app though. Found a 33bpm metronome track on youtube and visually timed a spot on the slip mat lapping my finger at a fixed spot to the beat. Close enough, and sounds so much better. Cheers!

This isn't the only turntable where this problem exist. I had a Lab 2200 which I had to adjust as well.I think the belt loosen up a little while it plays for the first time. I actually played the record while I adjusted it while the cd of the same song was playing for 33 rpm I had to get on TH-cam and play another song for my 45 rpm. Thank you for the review. I'm glad that I wasn't alone with this issue.
This video helped me a lot I bought an AT-LP60 off of Kijiji seemed high pitched which was weird so I searched up how to adjust the speed found this video and it worked wow!

I held my finger on the platter and noticed the time difference immediately. I did your steps and now I’m finding out why I fell in love with vinyl in the first place! I’ve been testing my new adjustment spinning Eagles, ELO, Fleetwood Mac, Christopher cross and now the Miami Vice 80s soundtrack! P.S. it only took 4 adjustments for me lol. Vinyl for Miles absolutely! Yeah I loved just sitting right in front of the speakers and being able to hear that great sax solo to “you belong to the city” in the key it was meant to be heard in. I played Paul McCartney’s all the best; for my wife and she could immediately tell the difference. We haven’t turned on the tv almost the whole day lol, just spinning that vinyl.

Thanks for this. My smallest flathead screwdriver has a very thin blade and is about 2 mm wide. This was too big. I ended up taking a piece 1/16" (1.58 mm) thick wire rod and grinding it down to make a screwdriver. I also reduced the width to about 1 mm. This did the trick. It takes quite a bit of force to turn the screw so you don't have to worry about accidently turning it as you're turning the screwdriver to find the slot. Mine was at 34.14 rpm. I got it down to 33.33 with three adjustments. I doubt I turned the screw more than an 1/8th of a turn.
I had a computer motherboard toolset that had a screwdriver thin enough to work. Really hope AT sees this video and makes this easier to adjust since it is such an issue
This video just saved me! My boyfriend’s record player (I bought it for him) always sounded off, even on my high quality records. He said he couldn’t tell but I sure could. Just fixed it now and I am thrilled! Thank you so much - I used the app RPM and a 1/16 flathead

Awesome! Thank you so, so much! I definitely realized that the tempo of my 33 records was too fast, and sure enough when I measured it it was about 3+% too fast. I had heard it was possible to adjust but I heard that it could potentially destroy your player if you weren’t careful so I was hesitant to do it. You explained it PERFECTLY and gave me the confidence to try it. I used an eyeglass screwdriver like you suggested and turned it only a tiny bit each time. Now it’s dialed in PERFECTLY and my records sound WAY better! Thank you!

My Sony LX300USB was running fast (it must be cloned from the AT-LP60 as they're virtually identical). Your fix worked! The adjustment holes are on the bottom and your technique worked like a charm. Thank you so much!
Dude. I have had this turntable for three years and always thought I got ripped off or I was going crazy because every album sounded a little to fast. My old 1970's Technics turntable never had this problem but also had an easy way to adjust if things got a little off speewise. Today, I found you. Took me a whole bunch of tweaks and a download of an app to measure turntable speed.But worth it. Amazing. Thanks!
Thanks, man! My AT-LP60XBT was spinning a wee bit too fast, w/ the pitch raised a couple of cents as a result. I never looked at the underside of my turntable that much before, but the two holes were there, same as the older LP60! Used a 1.4mm flathead screwdriver and that Turntabulator app (well worth 3 bucks), and had it down to the ideal speed in only 4 attempts! Thanks again!

giving this video some love bc wow it works!! I thought my records sounded slightly faster than normal, I assume it's from transporting my turntable during a recent move. Went from 34.23 RPM /+2.70% to 33.97/ +1.92%, not sure if that's the "normal" range but it sounds SO much better. you're a lifesaver!

As a perfect pitch guy, I can now finally fix my at-lp3! I boundht it second hand and with this, I discovered that it was running at 33.7~34 rpm. I fixed it now. I am happy.

Thank you for this video, I just picked up an Audio-Technica AT-LP60 for $30 at a local Goodwill, after I put in a fresh belt, it was running at bit fast, like 38-39 RPMs. Very help, now my records sounds great.
absolute lifesaver, pulled my old AT60 out after 2 years of not being used, noticed it was slightly fast, found this video and fixed it in 10 minutes after finding the right screwdriver.

Thank you! This turntable was my intro to vinyl and I recently noticed it was a little too fast. Once I heard it, I couldn't unhear it. Got it down to about 33.4 after 4-5 attempts. I used a 1.4 flathead screwdriver from a precision screwdriver set.
Took me quite a few tries to set it correctly. Hopefully AT fixes the issue soon on future turntables.
After over 30 minutes of frustration…it worked! I am so happy you have no idea, I bought it a new belt because that’s what I was told to do so I was about to upgrade when I didn’t want to. I actually place the turntable so it would be partially hanging off the table, and adjusted the speed from the bottom while watching RPM in the app. It really helped. Took me less than 3 minutes to fix. Thank you!
Thank you so much, omg. This worked perfectly!!! I got a used player recently and it saved me from buying a new belt thinking it was the reason and/or having it serviced to a third-party repair shop. It was initially playing at 34 and 47. Another tip for those who don’t have a teeny tiny screwdriver- I used a cheap angled tweezer (those with tiny pointed tips instead of the usual wide flat ones) often used for putting on lashes and/or stickers (crafting). It can be easily bent to keep one out of the way while you use the other to poke through the hole. It also has a flat bottom that can be gripped easily versus a bobby pin that’s just gonna slip in your fingers. It was a struggle to locate the screw blindly (I even thought I wasn’t doing anything ‘cause I couldn’t feel a screw twisting) but I was able to get it synced very close to 33.3 and 45 in just two tries! I now have newfound appreciation for my record player ‘cause it no longer makes my records sound Chipmunky 😂
Guys, for everyone who has LP-3 model - it works too! Just get a really small crosshead screwdriver, poke the felt a couple of times and use as video instructs.
There are no “buttons” as some other posts on the web might say. It’s screws.
The RPM tester in the video is called Turntabulator, it’s relatively cheap.

It's been a really long-time anxiety and uncomfortable to listen to my vinyl when it plays 0.1x faster than usual. The sound could change, and it would be a little different. Just about to give it up and get a new vinyl player, this tutorial came up and saved my ass! Thumbs up 👍👍

I was able to adjust my RPM using a 2mm-wide bit on my multi-bit mini-screwdriver -- not a specialist item by any means. Took me maybe 6 or 7 adjustments to get to get it right. Thanks for the straight-forward explainer!
Thanks for the video! Some tips for those with the LP3 (slightly different and I've just spent 2 hours of trial and error trying to figure this out...) It is Flat head, not Phillips like some other models. If you try to adjust while the record is playing, touching the terminal will cause extreme speed changes, so as painful as it is you will have to stop/start between every adjustment. Now for the weird bit...
33RPM hole is anti clockwise to speed up, clockwise to slow down. 45RPM hole is anti clockwise to slow down, clockwise to speed up. You need a TINY screw driver (like glasses size) and you will know when you're in the slot. If you're not sure, you're not in. Hope that helps!

This is a really helpful video, thank you for posting it. I'm not here to bash the LP60, it is what it is, and I loved mine for a good, long while. The trouble with the speed adjustment is this: once fixed, it doesn't stay fixed. I had mine set perfectly, three months later we were back to Alvin and Chipmunks. Fix again, fix again, fix again. Eventually, I turned the screw and it no longer "bit." We were done, and it was time to buy a new turntable. A pity. It frustrates me they can't get this small matter right; I would have given the LP60 to a family member, but now it's landfill.

My LP60 was measuring at 34.6 RPM and it was really annoying me, so I followed your instructions and managed to get it down to 33.5 which is close enough for me. It was very noticable before, but now the music sounds right. Thanks..

Thanks for the good vid. This applies to several turntable manufacturers. The clockwise turn of the screwdriver makes the turntable go faster is very helpful.

It worked! Got it to 33.2. It’s hard to get it precise without overshooting the mark. At first I was using a screwdriver slightly too big and could not find the slot. But a 1/16 inch or 1.5 mm flat head screwdriver does the trick. One suggestion is if you have a removable screwdriver tip to just hold it in your hands rather than using the handle so you have more control over finding the notch and also in turning it gently.

Thank you boss, this did the trick on the LP60X model too!! I had no idea those holes were on the bottom but it was basically exactly what you described in the video. I was doing 34.51 RPM and it was driving me crazy because the songs were a tiny bit too fast and the pitch was off so I couldn't play along on piano. Gave it a lil twist and got it to 33.41. Now when I play the root note to the songs on piano I can tell it's on key. Thank you so much!!!
i have this turntable and it has no issues at all with the speed or anything else. it worked perfectly out of the box and still does after one year of use. the video must talk of an older model and they probably fixed the issues in the new lp60 sold in stores.
This is exactly why I opted for a direct drive AT turntable this year instead. I've had to adjust this AT model and now a Sony for my dad with this exact problem, and I'm happy to pay twice the price for the privilege of never having to tweak the speed with a screwdriver again.

Thank you so much,! I finally had the courage to try it and it really solved it. I used a 1.2mm screwdriver, just a tiny bit of a turn to the left and it went from a 34.9 rpm to a 33.2. :) so glad! Had this issue with 2 different AT60, even returned the first one. Worked perfectly for me, with this fix, this time
tried to use a 1mm screwdriver head and got it to turn the speed down the first time, then it was too low and i spent like 2 hours trying to get it to go back up to no avail. i thought i completely broke the screw the first time or something. then had an epiphany and tried a 1.5mm and instantly felt a difference and fixed it within 5 minutes lmao. thanks for the video. new lp60x shouldn't have this issue right out of the box but sadly I did and I thought I was gonna have to warranty it out and get it replaced.

Yeah ditto man. Tried 3 or 4 times in a row and got pretty much nowhere. Gonna take another crack at it soon 🤷♂️
It took me like 40 minutes but I got it. Just apply ample amounts of pressure and you should feel this faint little catching on your screw. And push hard when you're screwing or else it might come loose.
Screwdriver might be slightly too big. I had to use a 1/16” flat. It’s very hard to tell but if you can’t just try to turn it and see if the speed is different. If not try again. Took me a few tries.
This was happening to me, too. The trick for me was finding a screwdriver with a small enough bit that was also narrow enough to push through far enough into the screw. The one I had been trying had a narrow enough tip but the shape of the shaft of the screwdriver made it catch on the housing before it could engage the screw. I also tried turning the screw with the turntable spinning (yes I realize the electric shock hazard) by putting it on a surface with gaps underneath that I could reach through. This seems to work, except that a magnetized screwdriver head makes the turntable go crazy (spinning extremely fast when the magnet is near, fast enough to toss your phone that you're using to measure RPM across the room). Just something else to look out for.

I have extremely good hearing pitch; the 34 1/2 RPM was *really* throwing me. I bought my player in 2018 and used it probably 8 times total because I just couldn't handle it. This video Really made my day.
Dude, thank you so much! I applied this same fix to my own cheap record player (Welling F700) which has always spun a little too fast. Same little screws in pretty much the same place. I didn't use a strobe or app though. Found a 33bpm metronome track on youtube and visually timed a spot on the slip mat lapping my finger at a fixed spot to the beat. Close enough, and sounds so much better. Cheers!

This isn't the only turntable where this problem exist. I had a Lab 2200 which I had to adjust as well.I think the belt loosen up a little while it plays for the first time. I actually played the record while I adjusted it while the cd of the same song was playing for 33 rpm I had to get on TH-cam and play another song for my 45 rpm. Thank you for the review. I'm glad that I wasn't alone with this issue.

I held my finger on the platter and noticed the time difference immediately. I did your steps and now I’m finding out why I fell in love with vinyl in the first place! I’ve been testing my new adjustment spinning Eagles, ELO, Fleetwood Mac, Christopher cross and now the Miami Vice 80s soundtrack! P.S. it only took 4 adjustments for me lol. Vinyl for Miles absolutely! Yeah I loved just sitting right in front of the speakers and being able to hear that great sax solo to “you belong to the city” in the key it was meant to be heard in. I played Paul McCartney’s all the best; for my wife and she could immediately tell the difference. We haven’t turned on the tv almost the whole day lol, just spinning that vinyl.
