    Fantastic interview! Thank you! I'm 68 and saw "Enter The Dragon" when it first came out! I had also seen Bruce on American television ("The Green Hornet" plus guest starring role on "Longstreet"). I'm so happy to hear this larger story of his influence... including on Hip Hop which I did not know. I agree that Bruce was a minor prophet. And his daughter is keeping his influence alive through the Bruce Lee Foundation today.

    By the way, TCM, how is it that Enter The Dragon is not on the schedule this month during the 100th anniversary celebration of Warner Brothers?????

    I have to agree. Bruce was a minor Prophet. He had and will always have an impact on the teachings of martial arts and indeed philosophy in general. He's had an impact on my life and his ideals often relate to key moments - whether I'm struggling or coping. I don't think he can ever truly pass and there will always be an audience for such a charismatic individual. Simply put, Bruce is the best.

    I don’t understand how Michael Allen makes a mistake about the month Bruce died, also can someone remind us if it is true that during the setting of ETD Bruce got very angry after Michael Allin to such extent he asked that Allin leaves Hong Kong?

    ENTER THE DRAGON deserves a 50th Anniversary Special Edition in 4k Dolby Vision, followed by a complete 4k box set of all his films. Bruce deserves a proper biographical documentary as well, enough of these terrible fictional biopics that have been made in the past.

      _Enter The Dragon_ should also be shown on TCM *_this_* month along with all of the other old '20's, '30's, '40's, and '50's stuff the channel overplays.

      The best I've ever watched so far is "Bruce Lee: A Warriors Journey".
      Knowing that "Bruce Lee: The Way of the Warrior" is available I'll be watching it soon.

    In Honor of the 50th Anniversary of "Enter The Dragon" (1973). It need to be talk about more then all martial arts. Every Film that came before and after it. Not to mention the behind story when, Bruce Lee. got into a fight with some Gang during filming it was insane.

    I feel like a terrible fan of action movies, martial arts films, and Hong Kong cinema for finding *Enter the Dragon* slightly overrated, but I confess I kind of do. It’s not bad by any means, and Lee was just getting started when he made it, so who knows what he would’ve accomplish. But…I don’t know, I guess I’m more a Yuen man 😅.

    • @barcham
      @barcham ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Bruce was far from getting started when he made Enter, he was already the biggest star in Hong Kong movie history, and a massive star worldwide, and this was his first major Hollywood movie which, if he had lived to see it released, would have made him the biggest movie star in the world. Lee actually made this movie at the end of his career, not the beginning. If he had lived, future movies would have not needed stars such as John Saxon to get Hollywood financing.

      @@barcham I should’ve phrased that differently, what I meant was that despite all he’d done, he had so much more to accomplish that he likely would’ve but for his tragic passing.

      @@BrainInSkull Actually, most martial arts movie fans had seen plenty of movies like it by the time Enter the Dragon came out. While it may have been the first big Hollywood martial arts production, there were enough movies coming out of Hong Kong to spawn an entire genre called 'chop socky' films.

    We could have listened more stories from Michael Allin... If the hostess had given him permission to talk. Sadly, I couldn't watch an interview with the screenwriter of a movie I love. What a waste...! 😢😢😢
