I would love someone from the industry to review Spaced. It really was the starting point for loads of UK actors and really let Edgar cut his teeth with loads of genres.
@@mrnapkin2514 I may not agree with you, but I have no issue with this. The entire Cornetto trilogy is so great that I think any of the three make sense as a person's favorite. The World's End is better the more one watches it and that alone makes me love it (that's what See It 2wice means). Films that have layers that work together so well and that make the movie better upon rewatch are such a treat.
I can tell a Wright movie within a few frame a without anyone telling me. His style is that distinctive as a director. His voice as a storyteller is also fantastically unique and genius.
The most amazing thing about this movie is how it genuinely makes me emotional at parts. Philip and Mums death and the especially the scene in the basement. They tug at the heart strings.
In his own words, this movie was Edgar Wright's "Love Letter" to George A. Romero, the 'godfather' and originator of modern zombie films. If you haven't seen Romero's trilogy - Night of the Living Dead (1968), Dawn of the Dead (1978), and Day of the Dead (1985) - then you should really watch them, and maybe even react to them on here. But Edgar's favorite, and mine, is DAWN OF THE DEAD from '78. There are a few nods to that film in Shaun of the Dead. Also, Romero notoriously hated most other zombie movies after his original trilogy, but LOVED Shaun of the Dead. He loved it, and Edgar, so much that he had Edgar & Simon Pegg make a cameo in his 2005 movie Land of the Dead, as zombies.
His first three are often referred to his original zombie trilogy. Yes he made more, but there was a 20 yr gap and then he made 3 more within five years before he died. These last three aren’t referred to or held in as high regard, as his “original” trilogy.
Agree! When I first saw it I thought it was the weakest of the trilogy but as time has gone on and I’ve rewatched them all a few times I think it’s my favourite (although hot fuzz is still very close)
I agree about it being the most mature. My issue with it was only that it was "zombie-esque" in the sense of normal people that "become" something else, and that it wasn't a genre that was overly familiar to a lot of people to enjoy as a spoof. I have the whole trilogy on DVD (along with Edgar's entire catalog) so I'll give it a rewatch soon. It's the only one of Edgar's movies I've only watched once so it's due another look.
Love The World's End. It's not my favorite of Wright's, but I love how rewatchable it is, both for its sheer entertainment value but also for the insane amount of detail in its world-building.
This movie is a perfect combination of romance, drama, comedy, tragedy, and true fucking bromance. The acting, editing, direction, screenplay and all other aspects were all top notch here.
Beating the zombie to Queen was just genius. I love when they pan to Shaun's mum and she is bobbing her head to the beat. How does one come up with that?
You can really appreicate this movie until you're older and realize all the nuances and set ups and dry humor. This is one of my favorite comedies of all time
I agree overall, but I will say that 'Cabin in the Woods' is right up there with funniest horror film ever. So clever and different and I laughed so much during that film.
You might be interested to know that a lot of the zombie extra's did it for free. They were fans of a show called Spaced that some of the cast were in, and when it was announced they were looking for extras on the fan forums people jumped at the chance to just be part of it. :)
You need to do What we do in the shadows. Mocumentary style movie about vampires. Written and directed by Taika Waititi. It meets the Halloween theme that you are doing. Don't quote me on this but, I think it was shot single-camera style.

Also, I'm not sure if you commented on it in your full reaction but I personally really like the way that the characters are placed and the way everything's shot in the first scene, portraying that Ed, David and Di are coming between Shaun and Liz
Shaun of the Dead is peak cornetto for me. I think it's a mixture of the characters being more relatable and grounded, a tighter premise. World's End is a group, whereas this is about a pair of best friends, its world-building is just exquisite through action and character. I love the repeat quality of the details around Shaun's world. Each background extra transforms. Each camera shot is repeated to parallel pre/post-zombie. And this is just the most well cast. Simon Pegg is Shaun. The Fuzz and World felt like Shaun being cast in the rest. Aand the themes of the zombification of everyday life, friendship, relationships...it's all so grounded and it's by far the tightest structurally. Shaun is king, baby.
I actually love shaun's character the most out of all the three of the films. He's just so human! That scene about booking the table is sooo relatable, cant tell you how many times I forgot soemthing that would only have taken like a minute or two to do, ya know.
I saw Hot Fuzz for the first time in the tiny cinema in Wells, Somerset, where the film was shot. So I walked out ONTO the film set! Special place in my heart x
This is filmed the same way as most British TV dramas. For me it's like a TV show but longer. Most of the cast are British long standing comedy actors and writers, so it's filled with talent in the eyes of a British viewer. A great film.
You’re pretty much the only reactor where I get as much (and often more) from your commentaries on films you’ve already seen as opposed to “first time reactions”. YEAH BOY! One of the best zombie films ever. I like the bit when Shaun and Ed are beating down the zombies in their yard, the music stops. It makes the moment feel more real and less cinematic. As much as I love Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, my favorite Edgar Wright film is Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
Just a quick FYI on the Jessica Haynes scenes (shes the one Shaun keeps bumping into & is leading a load of people just like Shauns to safety) the relevance of her showing up in this as an equal to Shaun is they both came up/broke out onto the scene in a show called spaced where they played room mates. It was created by her & Simon & directed by Edgar so it was a “full circle” moment. Especially as spaced was left on a hell of a cliff hanger because it suddenly got cancelled.
This was the best bro movie to watch with my best friend during our middle school/high school years. We rented it twice from Tommy K's before I actually bought it on DVD at Walmart. Never has a movie perfectly blended zombie-gore horror and everyday life-comedy intertwined in one film. Love the little nod to 28 Days Later at the end when the news anchor mentioned "rage infected monkeys" lmao
Just a note about when Phillip turns the music off in the car and you said _'I know he wasn't trying to'_ I think he was, and I think we're meant to hold that in our minds... fast forward to end of the film where the zombies are integrated into normal life with the news anchors saying something like 'they've retained rudimentary skills' etc, and even Shaun is keeping Ed in his shed to play video games. Basically there was still a primitive or subconscious part of him that absolutely detested the music.
One of my favorite films ever. Such a tight, well-written script, and so many great easter eggs for zombie film fans, especially nods to the original 'Dawn of the Dead' by George Romero. I'm sure you probably have, but if you've never watched the TV show 'Spaced', you absolutely need to. Edgar directed every episode and you really see his style, and it's where he met Simon and Jessica Hynes, and she has 3 brief appearances in SotD as Yvonne that are little nods to 'Spaced'. A lot of fans of the series got to be zombie extras and there's also another character from the TV show that's a zombie in the foreground of the horde outside the Winchester. 'Spaced' was also Nick Frost's first acting gig that Simon got him because they were best friends. As far as favorite EW films, I have to pick this one because it was both my first one (a friend sent me an illegal copy before it came out in the US) and because I was a big fan of Romero's DotD. But I basically love them all. I had issues with 'The World's End' but they had nothing to do with the filmmaking or performances. I'm mostly proud of the fact that Edgar called me a mother fucker on Twitter a few years ago. In a playful way, but it was still awesome. I also ran into Simon Pegg in a toy store in Santa Monica really randomly about 10 years ago and almost cried in front of him I was so excited.
To all fans of this team and who want more, like a TV series version of their films...watch Spaced. Channel 4 show that only had 2 short series so less than 20 episodes overall but it's Simon Pegg, Nick frost and Edgar Wright. Same type of humour, editing, references and directing of the Cornetto Trilogy. I cannot say enough good things about Spaced. I grew up on it. Every episode is gold and series is very rewatchable. Simon pegg shares a flat with Daisy (Jessica stevenson...his opposite in this film) pretending to be a couple to drunken landlady for cheap place to stay. Nick Frost is his bff (as usual) who is crazy and once stole a tank before trying to invade Paris. Legit his backstory. Mark Heap is fantastic as their "Artist" neighbour. It's great. You won't regret it. Maybe it's on prime where you are? Or internet? Go watch!
Shaun was the relatable hero we didn't know we needed. If we can relate.. we can establish that personal investment and connection to a character. Love your chilled insights on awesome movies 🤓
I spent most of my (work) day today watching first-time movie viewing reaction videos. I think yours are the best, because you understand the same things I do, PLUS things I don't understand like camera angles and framing. I watch a movie and just think, "that was awesome" or "that sucked", but you can actually explain why. On one hand, I'm tempted to ask you to review some of my favorite movies, like Aliens, Tombstone, and The Princess Bride. On the other hand, I kind of want you to review why a movie like Taken works so well, but a similar movie like Cold Pursuit doesn't.
No way!! I just watched this yesterday... I've seen it about 20 times but I just thought it'd be such a great film for you to review, as Edgar Wright is soo good, and his comedy and subtle sprinkling of hints and plot clues throughout the film is flawless and unique.
One of my top 10 movies of all time. Saw it when it came out in 2004 just as I was entering high school and it completely opened my eyes to different types of storytelling and comedy. Now I feel old though haha.
I've seen this movie a few times but until now I never realized that in the first scene in the Winchester Ghost Town by the Specials plays in the background.

If you want a "spooky" movie, a suggestion is *30 Days Of Night.* Its based off a comic and its no secret that its a vampire movie. They are my fav depiction of vampires and they are truly monstrous, highly recommend for the month.
I love to see you break down films. First reactions are fun for the emotional reaction. You are explaining how the film creates those reactions with things I do not not notice on a first watch. I may be learning a bit about filmmaking.
You might like the 1999-2001 TV series directed by Edgar Wright called "Spaced" with Simon Pegg, Jessica Hynes and Nick Frost. It's quite interesting because you can kinda see the early stages and evolution of Edgar Wrights work in that early tv show.
To be honest, The Winchester wasn't actually that bad of a plan. Thick walls, a lot of tables to block the windows, a whole bunch of food and drink if they're going to be stuck there for a while, and a lot to engineer into weaponry. If they didn't mess it up on every single step of the way, it would have worked splendidly.
This movie I've seen countless times and even now I will uncover new things. Like the last time I watched I noticed how the scene where they're playing video games and he's saying "top left" etc is also used later in the Winchester with the hoarde. This movie is incredible in the way it can reference itself but with different context.
I really dig your style, James. Very smooth and well crafted mate. As you say. Edgar Wright is without a doubt a master of his craft. Shaun of the Dead has to be one of the greatest films ever created.
This and Planet Terror are two films (both zombie action comedies, coincidentally) that are masters at reincorporation. Everything is repeated, everything reoccurs, and everything pays off in the end. Brilliant writing, especially for Shaun.
Amazing to me how well done all of Wright's movies are. The World's End is often slept on, but it has the best use of themes and characters in any of the Cornetto Trilogy.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong. But this was the first in the trilogy ( SotD, Hot Fuzz, Worlds end) also Edgars directorial debut. And being his first movie, the Professional Film crew hired for the making of SotD, didn’t think Edgar had it in him to Direct a Major Motion Picture. So to show them he knew his stuff, and to show off a little, the scenes where Shaun walks through the streets before and after the Apocalypse starts were shot on the same day, and were the first scenes shot. After seeing him pull it off the crew didn’t question Him at all.
One of the quickest channel subscriptions I've had for years... Nice to meet you James! Edit: Even after all of these years, I would be hard pressed to name a movie or director that balances Comedy and Drama the way Edgar Wright does. The only other director that I'm aware of who has pulled off the horror/comedy combination as good as this is John Landis (American Werewolf In London) I've watched this film at least 100 times, and without fail 14:16 and 19:28 always leave me with my mouth hanging open. The scene where he watches his mom die, and is then forced to shoot her is still one of my favorite scenes of all time. One second you are watching a comedy fight where all the main characters are hitting zombies in tune to Queen, and the next you're watching a scene of the character realizing he is about to lose his mom to the point where it causes his to have a literal nervous breakdown. If anybody knows and Horror/Comedy movies that pulled it off as well as this, please let me know!
Edgar Wright is a genius! His movies are all so enjoyable & fun & so well made. I don't think there's a single thing he's made that I haven't enjoyed. Awesome to see you rewatching this for a further dive into it
Penelope Wilton who plays Shaun's mom and Bill Nigh,his stepfather Philip. Went on to play Husband and wife again in the movie The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Penelope is also a cast member of Downton Abbey her character is Isobel Crawley.
One thing to point out. The dad turning off the stereo in the car is the first hint that the zombies still have a semblance of who they were before inside. After its all done they talk about being able to use zombies for menial task as they still remember how to do thing and that they aren't completely gone. This was the first evidence
OMG!!! This is my 3rd favorite zombie flicks EVER!!! (Train to Busan, 28 Days Later) I've been a Simon Pegg and Nick Frost fan since "Spaced!" This movie has me crying every time I watch it. And the fact that YOU are reacting to it makes it even better. This is by far my favorite E.W. movie! But I died during "Hot Fuzz" too. That long-shot of him walking to the store and back the first time and then again during the zombie attack is one of my fave scenes in the movie. (The other is when his Mom's BF turned in the car and still had the wherewithal to turn the radio off lol...) Fun Fact: 4 of the cast members and Edgar Wright were all on the show "Spaced". Pegg and Frost, of course, Jessica Hynes (Shaun's ex), and Julia Deakin (Shaun's Mom)
YEES!! Soooo glad that "The World's End" is your favorite, too!! It's such an underated film. While "Shaun" and "Fuzz" are amazing, the overall story and emotion in "World's End" is phenomenal!!!
One thing i find with edgars movies are the re-watchability. Like, there are tons of extra little details, which wouldnt really affect the viewer if they didn't pick up on them, but rewards eagle eyed viewers on a repeated viewing. He does it in a very good way. Some film makers, put really important plot points as a kinda hidden background thing and if you miss it, it will impact the viewing. But with edgar its all like an extra bonus. Like a cherry on top. I mean holy shit, take hot fuzz for example, iv watched that atleast 20+ times over the years and i swear i keep picking up on extra little things, for example a few of my favourite little bits are how the santa that stabs him in the hand in the intro bit is peter jackson, and the forensic lady that broke up with shaun was cate blanchett, like, there's no reason that you need to know that, and it dosen't make a difference to the overall story but its an extra little tidbit while reading the credits to see their names.
or for instance, i watched this fully the other week and only for the first time noticed that the kid who phoned edd at the start wanting to buy weed, was the same guy that phoned him when they where standing outside the pub, he says earlier to him "i'm all out at the moment sorry" and later on, on the second call outside the winchester says "sorry man, still all out"

Yes big time, Spaced is just kind of disregarded, I know it's not a movie but yknow it stands with them.
Hot Fuzz is by far my favourite. A lot of people don't enjoy The Worlds End but I personally found it really good.

I love hot fuzz and shaun of the dead both are 10/10,but i hate worlds end it is not funny and is boring max 4/10

The way this movie so effortlessly switches from chaotic and funny to serious and dramatic when Philip dies is just brilliant.

This was my absolute favorite by Wright until I saw Scott Pilgrim vs the World and fell head over heels for it. Highly recommend.

I actually love shaun's character the most out of all the three of the films. He's just so human! That scene about booking the table is sooo relatable, cant tell you how many times I forgot soemthing that would only have taken like a minute or two to do, ya know.
I saw Hot Fuzz for the first time in the tiny cinema in Wells, Somerset, where the film was shot.
So I walked out ONTO the film set!

This is filmed the same way as most British TV dramas. For me it's like a TV show but longer.
Most of the cast are British long standing comedy actors and writers, so it's filled with talent in the eyes of a British viewer. A great film.

One of the best zombie films ever.
I like the bit when Shaun and Ed are beating down the zombies in their yard, the music stops. It makes the moment feel more real and less cinematic.
As much as I love Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, my favorite Edgar Wright film is Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
Just a quick FYI on the Jessica Haynes scenes (shes the one Shaun keeps bumping into & is leading a load of people just like Shauns to safety) the relevance of her showing up in this as an equal to Shaun is they both came up/broke out onto the scene in a show called spaced where they played room mates. It was created by her & Simon & directed by Edgar so it was a “full circle” moment. Especially as spaced was left on a hell of a cliff hanger because it suddenly got cancelled.
Subtlety and repetition are such big parts of this movie. But even though things are repeated every time it's a different context. Absolutely love it
This was the best bro movie to watch with my best friend during our middle school/high school years. We rented it twice from Tommy K's before I actually bought it on DVD at Walmart.
Never has a movie perfectly blended zombie-gore horror and everyday life-comedy intertwined in one film.
Love the little nod to 28 Days Later at the end when the news anchor mentioned "rage infected monkeys" lmao
Always cracks me up when Ed winds the camera on as Mary emerges from her impaling. Brilliant.
This one and Hot Fuzz are one of the few movies i can rewatch over and over and still find little details i missed.
I suggest the trainspotting movies.
The first one isnt all there with cinematography but the second is absolutely stunning!

I highly recommend the found footage style zombie movie 'Rec' the original one in Spanish is worth a watch not the American remake. Nice work!
Just a note about when Phillip turns the music off in the car and you said _'I know he wasn't trying to'_ I think he was, and I think we're meant to hold that in our minds... fast forward to end of the film where the zombies are integrated into normal life with the news anchors saying something like 'they've retained rudimentary skills' etc, and even Shaun is keeping Ed in his shed to play video games. Basically there was still a primitive or subconscious part of him that absolutely detested the music.

One of my favorite films ever. Such a tight, well-written script, and so many great easter eggs for zombie film fans, especially nods to the original 'Dawn of the Dead' by George Romero. I'm sure you probably have, but if you've never watched the TV show 'Spaced', you absolutely need to. Edgar directed every episode and you really see his style, and it's where he met Simon and Jessica Hynes, and she has 3 brief appearances in SotD as Yvonne that are little nods to 'Spaced'. A lot of fans of the series got to be zombie extras and there's also another character from the TV show that's a zombie in the foreground of the horde outside the Winchester. 'Spaced' was also Nick Frost's first acting gig that Simon got him because they were best friends. As far as favorite EW films, I have to pick this one because it was both my first one (a friend sent me an illegal copy before it came out in the US) and because I was a big fan of Romero's DotD. But I basically love them all. I had issues with 'The World's End' but they had nothing to do with the filmmaking or performances. I'm mostly proud of the fact that Edgar called me a mother fucker on Twitter a few years ago. In a playful way, but it was still awesome. I also ran into Simon Pegg in a toy store in Santa Monica really randomly about 10 years ago and almost cried in front of him I was so excited.
To all fans of this team and who want more, like a TV series version of their films...watch Spaced.
Channel 4 show that only had 2 short series so less than 20 episodes overall but it's Simon Pegg, Nick frost and Edgar Wright.
Same type of humour, editing, references and directing of the Cornetto Trilogy.
I cannot say enough good things about Spaced. I grew up on it.
Every episode is gold and series is very rewatchable.
Simon pegg shares a flat with Daisy (Jessica stevenson...his opposite in this film) pretending to be a couple to drunken landlady for cheap place to stay. Nick Frost is his bff (as usual) who is crazy and once stole a tank before trying to invade Paris. Legit his backstory.
Mark Heap is fantastic as their "Artist" neighbour.
It's great. You won't regret it. Maybe it's on prime where you are? Or internet? Go watch!

I spent most of my (work) day today watching first-time movie viewing reaction videos. I think yours are the best, because you understand the same things I do, PLUS things I don't understand like camera angles and framing. I watch a movie and just think, "that was awesome" or "that sucked", but you can actually explain why.
On one hand, I'm tempted to ask you to review some of my favorite movies, like Aliens, Tombstone, and The Princess Bride. On the other hand, I kind of want you to review why a movie like Taken works so well, but a similar movie like Cold Pursuit doesn't.
No way!! I just watched this yesterday... I've seen it about 20 times but I just thought it'd be such a great film for you to review, as Edgar Wright is soo good, and his comedy and subtle sprinkling of hints and plot clues throughout the film is flawless and unique.
I'd love to see your reaction to Paddington 2. Its style, direction and editing is fantastic, and it has real heart.
One of my top 10 movies of all time. Saw it when it came out in 2004 just as I was entering high school and it completely opened my eyes to different types of storytelling and comedy. Now I feel old though haha.

Its based off a comic and its no secret that its a vampire movie. They are my fav depiction of vampires and they are truly monstrous, highly recommend for the month.
Also has one of my favourite shot scenes. That scene in the street from above where they're shooting everything, it feels like a video game.
I love to see you break down films. First reactions are fun for the emotional reaction. You are explaining how the film creates those reactions with things I do not not notice on a first watch. I may be learning a bit about filmmaking.
I love the subplot of the other group with more famous actors and going on an adventure you would expect in a normal zombie movie

It's quite interesting because you can kinda see the early stages and evolution of Edgar Wrights work in that early tv show.
The is the first of the "weird" movies that I show my late father that he liked. With most of the others he just shook his head.

To be honest, The Winchester wasn't actually that bad of a plan. Thick walls, a lot of tables to block the windows, a whole bunch of food and drink if they're going to be stuck there for a while, and a lot to engineer into weaponry. If they didn't mess it up on every single step of the way, it would have worked splendidly.
This movie I've seen countless times and even now I will uncover new things. Like the last time I watched I noticed how the scene where they're playing video games and he's saying "top left" etc is also used later in the Winchester with the hoarde.
This movie is incredible in the way it can reference itself but with different context.
Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg discussed more just spitballing and having fun, the idea of doing a vampire sequel called From Dusk till Shaun.

Shaun of the Dead has to be one of the greatest films ever created.
This and Planet Terror are two films (both zombie action comedies, coincidentally) that are masters at reincorporation. Everything is repeated, everything reoccurs, and everything pays off in the end. Brilliant writing, especially for Shaun.
“Pete! I said leave him alone!” For some reason that scene always makes me emotional.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong. But this was the first in the trilogy ( SotD, Hot Fuzz, Worlds end) also Edgars directorial debut. And being his first movie, the Professional Film crew hired for the making of SotD, didn’t think Edgar had it in him to Direct a Major Motion Picture. So to show them he knew his stuff, and to show off a little, the scenes where Shaun walks through the streets before and after the Apocalypse starts were shot on the same day, and were the first scenes shot. After seeing him pull it off the crew didn’t question Him at all.

Edit: Even after all of these years, I would be hard pressed to name a movie or director that balances Comedy and Drama the way Edgar Wright does. The only other director that I'm aware of who has pulled off the horror/comedy combination as good as this is John Landis (American Werewolf In London) I've watched this film at least 100 times, and without fail 14:16 and 19:28 always leave me with my mouth hanging open. The scene where he watches his mom die, and is then forced to shoot her is still one of my favorite scenes of all time. One second you are watching a comedy fight where all the main characters are hitting zombies in tune to Queen, and the next you're watching a scene of the character realizing he is about to lose his mom to the point where it causes his to have a literal nervous breakdown. If anybody knows and Horror/Comedy movies that pulled it off as well as this, please let me know!

Edgar Wright is a genius! His movies are all so enjoyable & fun & so well made. I don't think there's a single thing he's made that I haven't enjoyed. Awesome to see you rewatching this for a further dive into it

Penelope Wilton who plays Shaun's mom and Bill Nigh,his stepfather Philip. Went on to play Husband and wife again in the movie The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Penelope is also a cast member of Downton Abbey her character is Isobel Crawley.
This has been a classic in my family. And has had a special place in my heart since age 5.

One thing to point out. The dad turning off the stereo in the car is the first hint that the zombies still have a semblance of who they were before inside. After its all done they talk about being able to use zombies for menial task as they still remember how to do thing and that they aren't completely gone. This was the first evidence
OMG!!! This is my 3rd favorite zombie flicks EVER!!! (Train to Busan, 28 Days Later) I've been a Simon Pegg and Nick Frost fan since "Spaced!" This movie has me crying every time I watch it. And the fact that YOU are reacting to it makes it even better. This is by far my favorite E.W. movie! But I died during "Hot Fuzz" too. That long-shot of him walking to the store and back the first time and then again during the zombie attack is one of my fave scenes in the movie. (The other is when his Mom's BF turned in the car and still had the wherewithal to turn the radio off lol...) Fun Fact: 4 of the cast members and Edgar Wright were all on the show "Spaced". Pegg and Frost, of course, Jessica Hynes (Shaun's ex), and Julia Deakin (Shaun's Mom)

One thing i find with edgars movies are the re-watchability. Like, there are tons of extra little details, which wouldnt really affect the viewer if they didn't pick up on them, but rewards eagle eyed viewers on a repeated viewing. He does it in a very good way. Some film makers, put really important plot points as a kinda hidden background thing and if you miss it, it will impact the viewing. But with edgar its all like an extra bonus. Like a cherry on top. I mean holy shit, take hot fuzz for example, iv watched that atleast 20+ times over the years and i swear i keep picking up on extra little things, for example a few of my favourite little bits are how the santa that stabs him in the hand in the intro bit is peter jackson, and the forensic lady that broke up with shaun was cate blanchett, like, there's no reason that you need to know that, and it dosen't make a difference to the overall story but its an extra little tidbit while reading the credits to see their names.
or for instance, i watched this fully the other week and only for the first time noticed that the kid who phoned edd at the start wanting to buy weed, was the same guy that phoned him when they where standing outside the pub, he says earlier to him "i'm all out at the moment sorry" and later on, on the second call outside the winchester says "sorry man, still all out"
and ofcourse that kid is the guy who works with shaun in the electrical shop too
