As always, so much meaning behind the song. Not sure if they perform this much live, can’t recall seeing a live version. I think “she” is his daughter.
Great reaction as always. This song has new emotion to it since i lost my grandpa earlier this year and was very thankful he still recognised me, despite his dementia, the last time i visited. In an interview tyler said: 'I mention in the lyrics: ‘I wish she knew you’. And I’m talking about my wife, because when she started coming around, he’d taken a turn for the worse. He used to be so witty and would light up a room and change the social dynamic of any situation, and there are hundreds and hundreds of classic stories but by the time she came around, he was going downhill fast. He was unpredictable, didn’t remember people’s names, which was a new type of pain.'
I believe the line "I wish she new you" was referring to Tyler's niece who had just been born around the time of his grandfather's passing. Since then Tyler has had two daughters of his own so the line takes on new meaning. His first daughter's middle name is Robert after her great grandfather.
I don't think they've played this one live many times. I believe it was the last Trench song to make its live debut, because they wanted to make sure it would fit and get the treatment it deserved
There is not a pro-shot of this song live :( they didnt record it and played it on a festival neither. But here is a "good" version of the live debut of the song. He took his time to play this song live because he wasn't prepared yet, and you can almost hear him tearing up at the end: th-cam.com/video/jR1aFIadnLQ/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=AdrianaF.

Ah, that would make sense that it is his daughter. Thank you for commenting. 🙂

Thank you! I am sorry that you lost your grandpa this year. That is difficult. All best wishes. 🙂
