This wasn't selected by all the wonderful Patreons. This was selected by Paul and his cronies! The only difference is, this pick is great. This guitarist pays homage to the likes of James Taylor, BB King, Mark Knofler, David Gilmour, Eddie Van Halen, and Tom Morello. That's a fantastic eclectic bunch right there. Not only is Guthrie talented, buy he has class. Nice job Paul, more of this and Groundhogs would be nice.
Yeah, I remember this from nearly 20 years ago. It was a guitar tuition piece from the UK’s Guitar Techniques magazine. It was on a free CD with the mag. They did include videos on the disc later on but even then it would’ve probably been much shorter than this piece allowed and with a resolution of 240p! 😂😂😂
I thought this was from one of those plastic insert records that came in Guitar Techniques Magazine in England, before he was in a band. The written music would have been in the magazine, but this video might have come later. The "ov" in his last name is pronounced the same as in "governor".
As mentioned elsewhere in the comments, this was a lesson in Guitar Techniques magazine in the UK. The recording came on a CD and the magazine had the notation and tab. Someone may well correct me here, but I think there's a good possibility that this predates the existence of TH-cam so the idea of videoing things was pretty uncommon back then (plus you'd use up too much of the CD storage with a video file).
This guy is good! Wow!...this guy is the 'swiss army knife" of guitarists!...when you hire him you are gettin 20 guitar gods for the price of one!...soo sweet...I appreciate this share guys...I hope the both of you are doin well...
but of course we will start the inevitable list of players he left out: Zappa, Steve Morse, Alan Holdsworth, John McLaughtlin, Clapton, Jerry Garcia, Jorma Kaukonen, Chuck Berry, Chet Atkins, Les Paul, Bill Frisell,, Charlie Hunter, Stanley Jordan, Bill Harkleroad (Zoot Horn Rollo), Larry Coryell, Dimebag and all the metal guys and girls, Joe Pass and all the jazz guys, Segovia and all the classical guys, Dick Dale and all the surf guys... etc etc
Guthrie....G.O.A.T. Was my original request. This is Guthrie just having some fun. Love how effortlessly he moved between each style. I honestly think he wasn't even trying, he's just a natural. This was just a bit of youtube fun. Never released on an album and not making money out of other guitarists. Not sure but I think it was released like this for GT, with the tabs and everything for it's readers. Guthrie isn't bothered being seen. The first time I saw Guthrie was as a guest of ZPZ in Manchester. One bit in that was that Dweezil kept throwing musical styles at Guthrie and he just smiled and did everything thrown at him, with consummate ease.
I’m going to see Guthrie and the Aristocrats tonight!
Have fun! How cool!
Pronunciation guide:
Govan rhymes with 'oven'.
😎
It could be that he didn't do a video of his playing because he had to change guitars and gear set ups.

they weren't poll winners but everyone you mention he could cake walk it
To me Guthrie is the only person can sound like Jeff Beck, and I would guess he was an influence as well.
