Full Crossplay for KoF XV across all systems is coming, and some people may have given up hope, but Samurai Shodown is indeed finally after all these years getting Rollback Netcode! Plus awakened Orochi stuff, plus Season 2 of KoF XV, plus they got even more stuff coming Sunday. SNK has come out swinging.

Wow such an old game got rollback netcode retrofitted back into it after all these years. I guess thats what happens when you have a company that actually cares about its fans. Hell its not even the only announcement of old game rollback today. Devs going the extra mile in moves that are sure to not make any money at all, just for the fans. Really goes to show you how little concern bandai namco has for their fans while they let DBFZ rot.
Two games getting Rollback: Persona 4 Arena Ultimax (which we knew already, but it is launching today), and SamSho. We are at a point where Rollback has not only proven itself, but now (mostly) everyone is jumping onto that bandwagon. But yeah... it does seem as though we only have one other pillar of fighting games that needs to step it up. It might not be easy to implement it, but we're seeing plenty of companies now going out of their way to not only make it happen, but also (as what Roofie said) to go into games several years old to actually put it in. Edit: I don’t know why I thought KoF didn’t have it already, but I guess since I had just woken up, it slipped the mind and I combined SamSho with KoF for a moment there. Apologies.
Something especially revealing on that topic is the time delta between this snk announcement and the (planned) date of the update. We all know by now that retrofitting rollback into old game isn't impossible, and now we're to the point where projects with not exactly huge budgets (samsho) can feasibly execute it in a year or less. Everyone else can apparently make the finances work to do it in games running on the same hardware (and frequently the same or technically related engines) as the larger bamco games that have been out for years with multiple times the sales (not to mention dlc money). Really makes you think.
And smash. And Tekken. And soul Calibur. And all the fighting games that they have made using Shonen Jump's IPs. And every other fighting game in between that came out under their watch. Games not working online has become their calling card at this part.
@@Zevox87 KOF 15 very nearly didn't have rollback. The person leading the team actively disliked it. He only buckled because people kept asking for it. It was the same with Guilty Gear strive. Both times, the people in charge buckled and put rollback in after committing to not doing so at first. That still means that they had it at release, sure, but that is after going back and spending the money to add it in where it was going to have it at first. The developer of Fightnig EX Layer added rollback to their game a mere four months after their game came out. Bandai could do it at any point in development.
Crossplay is gonna help with the matchmaking, assuming it isnt fixed by then. Season 2 needs more ASH saga characters, Orochi Team next week is great too. Might try out samSho
I feel like SNK has been following through with the "Shatter all expectations" slogan with KoF for the most part. The way they went about the gameplay, roster and other stuff SNK has been up to, they are doing a pretty damn good job of keeping things interesting.
As everyone who has been doing SNK reactions, plays the game and does content for it, noone and I mean noone has ever once said SNK and KOF15 has lived up to its slogan. People have been saying they should give that slogan to SF6, DNF Duel or anime fighting games. I'm a big SNK fan too but 15 hasn't done anything worth its slogan at all. It just added recycled characters, mode wise the only good mode is the boss fight with omega rugal but only after the game came out. Its been lackluster compared to all the past KOF titles and the secrets and all they have. Your expectations have been lowered if you think they have been doing things so well to shatter any KOF fans expectations. They are doing whats expected, not anything new.

Wow, I had given up that Samsho would get any kind of update, I'm definitely going back to it once Rollback is implemented. And KoF XV getting crossplay will definitely help with the game's longevity. All around great stuff.

The deal with Yashiro not having a special track for fighting himself is likely because Shermie and Chris's special BGM's are their 98 themes (Fanatic Waltz and Mad Fantasy respectively). Yashiro's theme in 98 was Rhythmic Hallucination, so it'd be redundant with their main theme.
This is great news sir, NOT only for KOF but for the continued support of Sam Sho I too want to get Rugal's secretaries to return (hopefully all trucked out in their Orochi gear) I really want to track down digital versions of those posters so that I can change my desktop (Kneels and prays for CvS/SvC to continue) Really excited for Sunday's announcements. As well as Team Korea of course, but a new one consisting of Kim, his master Gang-Li from 14 and his student May-Lee Jinjo as a line of "students and masters." As for an individual character I'd really want, it would definitely be Duck King.(also, if they TRULY wanted to shatter all expectations, they'd do a Team Maximum Impact.)
a matchmaking fix would skyrocket XV's player count to one of the biggest in the genre. so happy to see KOF still chugging along, because it's probably become my second favorite fighting game (behind granblue)

Crossplay is nice and all but unless I'm mistaken the matchmaking for KOF is still broken so it doesn't matter all that much because it can't properly match you with the larger pool of opponents.
They need to drop the base price of samsho on steam, you can only buy the full game with season 1 dlc for like 49$, if it drops to 19.99 w/out dlc I will give it a try.
SamSho getting rollback is such a great surprise. I thought this game was doomed to rot but it’s great to see SNK trying to redeem it because it is a good game that was weighed down by its poor netcode. But now that we’re getting rollback people will get to realise what makes this game so good to begin with.
For the DLC Team 4, if the leaks are still to be trusted (it's been correct, so far) we'll be having the SamSho Team of Haohmaru, Nakoruru & Darli. Not really hyped for that.

Finally samsho is one of my fav fighting games in a long time
Crossplay is nice and all but unless I'm mistaken the matchmaking for KOF is still broken so it doesn't matter all that much because it can't properly match you with the larger pool of opponents.
Looking forward to playing samsho again but wont be playing at day sooner until the roll back comes out.

They need to drop the base price of samsho on steam, you can only buy the full game with season 1 dlc for like 49$, if it drops to 19.99 w/out dlc I will give it a try.
Bought KOFXV after hearing about cross play. I wanted to get it for a while but I heard matchmaking was rough but cross play should fix that I'd think

SamSho getting rollback is such a great surprise. I thought this game was doomed to rot but it’s great to see SNK trying to redeem it because it is a good game that was weighed down by its poor netcode. But now that we’re getting rollback people will get to realise what makes this game so good to begin with.

For the DLC Team 4, if the leaks are still to be trusted (it's been correct, so far) we'll be having the SamSho Team of Haohmaru, Nakoruru & Darli. Not really hyped for that.
