Absolutely loving the light heartedness in this video! Seeing you deliberately destroy that trace totally helps me staying calm. I‘ll think about it the next time i screw something up again.
backofficeshow fair enough. I’m not the biggest fan of leds in everything myself. Although ports would’ve been cool it’s your machine and your call. :)
Would it be possible to put the battery holder on the back of the board and sticking the contacts through the correct hole? So i dont need to drill a hole intro the board.
loved this video is there any solder brand you can recommend? i cant seem to find any recommendation for leaded and lead-free solders for use with the gamecube.. thanks a bunch in advance. (gamecubes after 2003 supposedly use lead-free, but idk what to buy, what brand)
@@backofficeshow thanks for the reply! but is it okay to use leaded solder on lead-free gamecubes? i've been told not to do that... and im just confused LMAO.
Realistically, not much 🤔 I would like to change a lot of LEDs to zero LEDs because my bedroom is like a disco at night 😂 Maybe I could use IR LEDs so I can still check if stuff is on via my phone camera 🤔
Wonder why the battery is located there. Ease of access, just free spot on the PCB design? Makes me wonder, how easy it would be to plop a little 3-legged multicolor LED there, to change color according to... mood, planets, temperature,... or a potentiometer. :) Is there a source with variable voltage inside, maybe in the drive... Pondering aloud in comments. :)
@@backofficeshow That jogs a memory, I think Big Clive did something with such not long ago. Those might have been the sort of, candle-like, undulating, flickering types... Which would be damn cool in any console! :D
The GameCube used an internal, unchargable CR2032 instead of a rechargable ML2032 like the Dreamcast and Mega CD had? That's mad in the pants... But typical Nintendo.
Maybe it was rechargable and I should have used an ML2032 🤔 I probably ought to check before something blows up 😂 The Dreamcast is more annoying because it insists on setting the pointless time that only SeaMan uses
Just put me a battery holder in and didn’t need to drill at all. Sweet! 😎

Only can we be truly comfortable when we have so much experience screwing stuff up fixing it is no concern 😂
Do you remember what gauge wire you used? I have 28 AWG. Will that work?
I don't recall, but really any wire you can work with will be ok
Thanks for giving me something to do during lockdown
Which bit are you going to do first?
@@backofficeshow zeno and sd ordered. Your paint job was fantastic, dont have that air compressor though, rattle can maybe.
What LEDs are you using? I have a bunch of green LEDs and all seem to be extremely dull or wont work.
they're the lowest voltage I could find
Are you going to put LEDs behind the controller ports themselves too?
Probably not, I don't feel the need to overdo it. Less is more 😂

This is something I have to do on my cubes one of these days.
Let's focus on that leg first! 💪
@@backofficeshow Yep, I have to be able to climb the stairs first!

You can mount it any way you like as long as it's electrically correct. Even on flyleads
I know your comment is two years old but if someone else has the same question. Just get a differently shaped battery holder.
@@HoveringAboveMyself thats what I actually did at the end. 😬

Just grab any leaded solder you can find 🤣
No bigger than 0.5mm

@@ZonkedOutTCM it's absolutely fine, and will make your life a lot easier 👍
I just want to change all LEDs on ALL my household electrical gear now. What can go wrong??

I might mod my 3 GC's to RGB LED's
Great idea. With a remote control to adjust?
You can get slow rotating RGB LEDs for buttons from Ebay. I replaced all my PC power lights with them.
Literally a packet of 20 just turned up! I am very excited to try them, I can't believe they look like regular LEDs!!
earned my sub after u started the LED lifted pad issue..XD I just did the same thing -.-
Always stressful!

I read your can buy colour cycling LEDs!

I think the one you replaced said CR on it, but it wasn't quite in focus when it was close enough to the camera to read.
