Fantastic review, uncle clipper! Great to see you once again making a video, always appreciated your analysis and honesty. I got this coming my way soon and I worry about the proportions but, this breakdown alleviated many of my concerns. Take care!
Spot on review. I received this figure yesterday and I was feeling kind of down on it, but after playing around with it more last night and a bit this morning, I’m with you. Your reviews are a great asset to the community.
Enjoyed the review Rik. Two accessories I thought of that would have been great would be, a diecast adjustable Mic stand with microphone, and a 1/6 scale guitar stand. Overall thought a solid first release
Great review, good to see you back Clipper. I just met a new collector and referred him to your old videos for info on figures. Your reviews are that good, man.
Clipper that leg was same with mine, put knee up and pull it inwards, whats happened is the ball/joint is just coming into contact with something if you know what I mean, mess about with the knee up and it will bring it back round and then will come in like the other.
Excellent review as always, great to see the top-notch posing back on TH-cam! That said, when it comes to this figure, I'm surprised by a couple of things: 1) Everyone seems to be glossing over the oddly proportioned body. I'm not talking about the skin tone, or the look of the body without clothing. Standing straight, in clothes, the proportions between the neck, torso, and arms, are clearly off. With excellent posing, it can be hidden, but no one is mentioning it. 2) The magnetic stand is only a good idea, if the joints in the ankles, knees, and hips remain tight. If any of them get loose, sure the feet will stay planted, but the figure will collapse. 3) Lucky for Molecule 8, their company isn't called "Sideshow", 'cause if it was, and had these minor? flaws (long neck, the HUGE gap between the neck and the headsculpt, body proportions, sticker patches, etc,.) at this price level, people would ROAST the figure. Personally, I'm looking forward to it!
I have it and the joints are very tight you can do anything with it look at mine here lol www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/general-collectibles-action-figures/178711-molecule8-1-6th-scale-john-lennon-691.html#post9841852
Oh I'm sure they are very tight now... but it is a very heavy piece, and the weight is not just in the legs, it's in the upper body as well. It's not a criticism, it's more of a concern. I've one on order, and I'm concerned that over time, after various posing (sitting/standing/etc.) that one of those areas gets a little loose. If so, the magnetic base becomes useless which is a shame. Nice pics!
If the company were called Sideshow the figure would have been roasted? LOL. Where have you been hiding, dude? The flak that Molecule 8 and their maiden figure have taken since day one, and continue to take, is nothing short of an absolute disgrace. As for the "oddly proportioned body"; maybe no-one is mentioning it because no-one is seeing what you're seeing? Rick already touched on how to pose the figure to look "natural" and it's got nothing to do with hiding anything; the human body is not straight up and down and can get itself into all kinds of "un-natural" shapes. However, If you're thinking the proportions are off based on a comparison to other 1:6 figures, then you're right... because there isn't a single 1:6 body out there that is proportioned correctly. Edit: I almost forgot to mention; great review!
Clipper, I think the apple logo on the black shirt is now under copyright by the beatles estate as apple music publishing, so while they have John's copyright.. They don't have any beatles rights. Also will you be getting the new kumik headsculpt to compare? Amazing review as always
Very few Hot Toys figures are late being released. Most are on time with some earlier. Saying most is inaccurate. You’d know this if you researched it.
Lithey I would disagree I have many hot toys that I preorder and very often they are delayed. Before I responded here I looked at my past emails and over half of what I ordered also had a delay notice, so maybe it depends on what you're ordering but I personally think that what he is saying is accurate generally speaking
Terry Light it depends where you’re ordering from. If you look at the releases in HK then most are on time. Very few are late. When you’re buying from UK sellers or Sideshow then things can be heavily delayed. Spider-Man Homecoming tech suit for example. However in HK it actually released AHEAD of time.
Lithey sorry mate that my research is not up to date but thats down to having a life ....... it was often the case when i was collecting.... drax , hulkbuster , Michael jackson smooth criminal, green lantern to name a few , but thanks for watching anyway
I didn’t have a problem with the delay. That crap happens all the time. It was the constant lying by the company. Saying the figure was only waiting for licensor approval then nothing for months. Then creating an actual Facebook event for the release then not meeting that. If they were just honest from the get go and explained why there were delays, they wouldn’t have gotten half the hate they did. They got what they deserved as far as that is concerned. For a first figure, it’s not as bad as reported, but not that great either. Just average.
The head is underscale. It's supposed to be bigger than that. That's my biggest nitpick. Secondly, there's too much gap between hair sculpt & head itself. Lastly, the hair sculpt looks sloppy. Otherwise, it's a quite good looking figure.
Alexander Valentino I agree about the hair sculpt. I don't understand how more people haven't noticed how poor the hair is compared to other 1/6 figures these days. looks very dated
I think that some are going easy on it because of sentiment, this is a debut figure from a new company, and there is an element of 'the emperors new clothes', a kind of confirmation bias that they have spent their money well. In addition to the flaws that you mentioned, I would also add that the neck itself looks very cheap with its lack of detail, and that some of the clothes (tailoring, fit, and quality) look substandard. It's a respectable first effort, though given the time that it's spent in incubation and the high price point, I would not disagree with those who were expecting a little bit more.
Dan Giambrone I think your spot on with your comment mate. also I honestly don't think it does any real good for the company that these flaws aren't getting mentioned in reviews as they won't improve without good constructive criticism.
Likewise Reuben, I think that you've made a very solid point. It's such a shame that many people out there would most likely conflate our comments with trolling, allowing their emotions to affect their objectivity.
F***! This is horrible, especially the hair sculpt. I have very little hopes for the Wonka figure. I've also noticed on the Wonka figure they don't advertise the 1:1 golden ticket and Oompa Loompa like they did when they first announced it. *sigh* very low hopes for this company. Wonka will be the only figure I pick up from them possibly. I'll stick with hot toys for a long time!

Lee Its there first figure, sideshow has had loads of figures out and continue to fuck up. I say as this is the first they done quite well myself.
Its tight as fuck mate its going nowhere and is actually quite hard to move the joints.
How strange I was messing around with my GK Ada and thought about you. Then boom you put up a review.
Good to see youre back.

Only they need to put natural hair , it can be more realistic. I loved how the John's lennon hair looked 😰💔
Good review

Well I guess that's the difference between casual & serious collectors...
