We showed this to my 2.5yo son last month, because with Covid, we can’t get back to the U.K. to see family. He loves this video, asks for it almost daily now, and it’s been lovely to show him something of London that’s right up his street.

I absolutely love the colour scheme of the tube trains and believe they make them gorgeous. I can't believe they went a different route for the crossrail trains.

I’ve been on the London Underground! I have been on almost every single line (except the London Overground if that counts). My favourite line is the Jubilee Line, because it reminds me of my favourite Underground Ernie character: Jubilee. Because he reminds me of myself.
the London overground isn't a part of the London Underground however it is still part of TFl(Transport for London) so it still only runs through London.

Oh man I used to always take the underground station at Embankment...Damn, I really miss London. It always felt strangely familiar to me since I was little.
Finsbury Park station has been improved - and the 1973 Piccadilly stock soldiers on despite current "wheel repair" problem, the second such episode in 18 months!
You know that things can get broken? Even your car that don't drive the whole day will have that problem? Besides that, the M5-serie in Amsterdam... since day one a lot of technical problems on that train so it doesn't matter how long they're in service.

Northern Line uses 1995 stock with IGBT-VVVF traction, whereas the Jubilee uses 1996 stock with GTO-VVVF traction. That's why the Jubilee trains sound very different to the Northern ones. There are a few other minor differences.
They are planning to replace the current Bakerloo line stock in the late 2020s after they do so on the Piccadilly, followed by the Central in the early 2030s. The Waterloo & City is likely to get new stock first as a trial run of them including the new Platform Edge Doors as well
In a sense yes, most lines are deep level but thr Circle, District, Hammersmith and City and Metropolitan lines are subsurface i.e. just below street level. Thanks for watching.
Sort of! The original line was cut and cover like most of New York, which eventually allowed for larger stock. Many reasons lead to the later system of deep level (up to 200 feet below street) tubes that followed, which are smaller diameter. The system is totally integrated meaning seamless travel for passengers across the network ect but tubes are distinctly different to sub surface stock and obviously sub surface stock cant fit deep level tube track while the reverse isnt true and tubes can roll anywhere if required on the system (now watch some tube buff correct me!)

@Bhavi Senthitselvan I used to live on a metro station with jubilee as well, Wembley Park, but tbh Neasden was somewhat closer. The bakerloo line in Wembley Central and Golders Green/ Brent Cross in Northern Line was also pretty close. Never really go into Central London except from Oxford Circus, Kings Cross and Euston on Victoria Line. But I never really liked the Metro, just seemed slow and doesn't sound that nice. The Jubilee was always much better.

It's really confusing because in NYC and Glasgow it's a subway and in Newcastle, Paris, (insert more here) it's a metro. But in london it's a tube or underground
@@ZLDSmogless if u would know then the Newcastle subway is in England but does not fall under the TFL branding and is its own. In London its called the tube and/or underground because 1. it is an underground rapid transit service (mostly) and it was named that in 1864 so it would not've been called a subway and its called tube because of the shape of the tunnels.
Nope. Some are sub level underground trains. I.e. they don’t necessarily travel through a tunnel throughout the journey, and there are trains dedicated for “deep level underground” such as picadilly and Bakerloo line. Deep level lines tend to much older and these trains are ‘made to fit’ for these tunnels. If you were to get a sub underground train it would not fit at all, so no trains cannot be used across different lines. The only exception is the latest stocks for: District, Circle, H’smith and City lines, they use the same trains and even inside the trains they have all 3 maps.
Many NYC subway stations are so dirty. However NYC subway operates 24/7, charges $1 for a metro card, and charges $2.75 to go anywhere on the subway. London Underground runs about 5am-midnight Sunday-Thursday & some lines runs 24 hours on Friday & Saturday. It charges £5 for a Oyster Card and charges about £3.30 - £5.10 depending on how far you travel. Maybe that explains why the Undergeound is clean, they arent always open, and they pay for it!

In a sense yes, most lines are deep level but thr Circle, District, Hammersmith and City and Metropolitan lines are subsurface i.e. just below street level. Thanks for watching.
Sort of! The original line was cut and cover like most of New York, which eventually allowed for larger stock. Many reasons lead to the later system of deep level (up to 200 feet below street) tubes that followed, which are smaller diameter. The system is totally integrated meaning seamless travel for passengers across the network ect but tubes are distinctly different to sub surface stock and obviously sub surface stock cant fit deep level tube track while the reverse isnt true and tubes can roll anywhere if required on the system (now watch some tube buff correct me!)

They have different electronic gubbins. Jubilee line has GTO thyristors, while the Northern has Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors .

The circle district metropolitan and Hammersmith and city have all lost there spark there's nothing to it anymore as there all the same train

@Bhavi Senthitselvan I used to live on a metro station with jubilee as well, Wembley Park, but tbh Neasden was somewhat closer. The bakerloo line in Wembley Central and Golders Green/ Brent Cross in Northern Line was also pretty close. Never really go into Central London except from Oxford Circus, Kings Cross and Euston on Victoria Line. But I never really liked the Metro, just seemed slow and doesn't sound that nice. The Jubilee was always much better.
Metropolitan line uses different trains called the S8 while the rest use the S7

It's really confusing because in NYC and Glasgow it's a subway and in Newcastle, Paris, (insert more here) it's a metro. But in london it's a tube or underground
@@ZLDSmogless if u would know then the Newcastle subway is in England but does not fall under the TFL branding and is its own. In London its called the tube and/or underground because 1. it is an underground rapid transit service (mostly) and it was named that in 1864 so it would not've been called a subway and its called tube because of the shape of the tunnels.

Nope. Some are sub level underground trains. I.e. they don’t necessarily travel through a tunnel throughout the journey, and there are trains dedicated for “deep level underground” such as picadilly and Bakerloo line. Deep level lines tend to much older and these trains are ‘made to fit’ for these tunnels. If you were to get a sub underground train it would not fit at all, so no trains cannot be used across different lines.
The only exception is the latest stocks for: District, Circle, H’smith and City lines, they use the same trains and even inside the trains they have all 3 maps.

Many NYC subway stations are so dirty. However NYC subway operates 24/7, charges $1 for a metro card, and charges $2.75 to go anywhere on the subway.
London Underground runs about 5am-midnight Sunday-Thursday & some lines runs 24 hours on Friday & Saturday. It charges £5 for a Oyster Card and charges about £3.30 - £5.10 depending on how far you travel.
Maybe that explains why the Undergeound is clean, they arent always open, and they pay for it!
