WMF CNC Plasma Rotary Tube Cutter w/ Sheetcam Rotary Plugin

- A demonstration of my shop built CNC Plasma/Scribe table with the Rotary Tube Cutter Atachment.
The entire CNC table and Rotary axis was designed, engineered and built by Brian Wolfe at Wolfes Metal Fabrication. All working parts of the table are in the gantry, so table size can be easily extended by welding up a larger table and installing longer rails.
The Rotary Cutting chuck was designed to be installed on the backside of the table completely out of the way when not in use and only the installation of the tube to be cut and a sliding support slipped on the support rail with a thumbscrew to secure it is all that is required to cut tube. No extra bolt ons, moving the torch etc. is required.
It is driven via a Nema 23 Stepper motor and a G203V Geckodrive on a 50Volt powersupply.
I promised Les from Sheetcam that I would make a video demonstrating it and showing some drawing and setup after he finished helping me fine tune the post processor to work as I wanted for my table with the scribe. - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี

Wow, I have got to say that is one of the best shop built ideas I have seen yet. I have been trying to figure out how to do this and you have it all figured out. Once I get my table up and running I will re-watch this so I can make my own. Please keep up the great work and projects.
Thanks, I greatly appreciate it. I have actually had more interest/response with this (including phone calls) than i expected. I will probably be trying to get atleast a couple units or a small production run of them made in nema 23 and nema 34 when i get a chance,

Hi, good machine !! Do you use THC for the square tubes?
+Tornería Roman Yes the THC is also active during all tubes, but probably wouldn't have to be, it just a little added insurance to get proper cut height. The THC is not what controls the z height for the corners though, it is programmed in.
THC is programmed in? It has special inputs to connect Plasmacutter? Or I have to have THC controller separately?
wonder how one would do that , is there a square tube option in the program that you tell the side size of the square tube and it adapts the g code to match , the 4 jaw chuck makes it clear where those corners are offcourse
never mind you explaned it in the video you fold the tube out on the program and make the one axis rotateable , still makes ajusting the height a bit of a dark art
i think if someone was to make a add on g code program made for cutting square tube it be a lot eazier to do
What software do you use to control this? And what software to create G code?

This is awesome! Now I am confused if I want breakboard with direct mach 3 support and work from PC or use this thing. This looks like an elegant solution. You create your code on a PC in clean office. You do not need a PC in your workhouse. Then you just bring SSD there and run the machine. Also it looks like with this controller my CNC would look more industrial like.
On the other hand Mach 3 has more features and someday I might be sorry I did not use it and PC directly to CNC.

They are the last thing on my to do list, and i actually need to modify it abit to be a good bottle opener, but i could possibly cut you 1 (pricey per piece) or a handful if you had use for multiples (less costly per piece), if you are not in an extreme rush to get it/them.

Sorry, it was not meant to, i was just messing around, and never figured anyone would want any of these, but they have actually brought more interest than i thought. That was the reason for the LOL.
Wolfesmetalfab It's a quirky, useful and rare object. Produced in a brutal, yet cunning way. I like it. I assume the bottle opener part is tested and works well? :)
dmak2 :) it will be tested and adjusted before any are made for sale. It was actually just a coincidence, as it was just an opening in the back of the chair at first until the thought came across..."Hey, thats a cool bottle opener"
