All the great punk or small venues are gone. There was one in south Cincinnat(Newport Ky.) Called the jockey club. All the great punk bands came there in the 80's. You could stage dive then go get a shot. It's long gone, just like all the cool punk venues of that era.
+Chris Turnblom Then they went to shit in late 90's I guess they wanted to be the family music channel that only talked about fake pop stars and rappers who all they had to do was rap about money. Sorry world need talent and a vision of want you want your world to be.

I saw Social D at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, Oregon back in 2008 (give or take a year). That venue is unique in that it has a spring supported dance floor. As people start moving with the beat, the floor gets moving. It's an odd feeling that mimics a very small earthquake. Anyhow, these guys were rocking the hell out of that place. I'd never seen or even heard of them before. I was there as an invite from a hardcore fan who insisted I see them. WOW! What a kickass show. I'm so glad I went. What "sealed the deal" for me was their rendition of "Ring of Fire." I was blown away. They stayed close enough to the original they didn't butcher the song, which doesn't always happen. Social D covered that song with total taste and it's now the only version I listen to.
Greatest American punk rock band there is, STOP!!! Orange County forever! I saw these guys the first time at 14, then i saw them 53 more times, and counting!

Social D & Steel Pulse are hands down the 2 bands I’ve seen the most…and many times not even intentionally. I’ve seen both probably 10-12 times and at least half were times I attended this festival or that festival and, lo and behold, who just happens to be rocking a set (one that I’ll be sure not to miss) that day. This is by no means a complaint, I honestly don’t know if I’ve seen all too many better live bands…both of those bands are absolute iron men of touring and have been hard charging for 30+ years now. It’s truly impressive stuff. Love me some Social D…rock on boys!
Hour of Darkness and Let it be me were my favorite songs by them along with Telling Them and Like an outlaw . such awesome songs. Then through these eyes became my favorite years later
Anna Morales I saw them at that semi-infamous show at that big old abandoned church called the Temple, down Town Phx. that was a great place and time to be young , 👍cheers 👍to all the old Scenesters.. Mad Gardens et al..TSOL @ Calderon Ballroom.. DKs @ Party Gardens ..
Love it. Favorite band ever. I've seen them dozens of times and every show rocks. Their sound, their micing, everything is just so dead on. In 92 we were even escorted in the back door of a local club by the opening band and I made my way right across the stage next to Mike during the show. Awesome times.
Punk or not punk - doens't matter to me. They're just great! One of the few bands that actually sounds as good onstage as on a record. With autotune and shit, any can do this nowadays, but SxDx did it 20 years ago and still does it without autotune!

Saw them at the 9:30 Club in D.C. 1990 I think. They were the Headline act with Flock of Sea Gulls. What's his name was cool at THAT time for having tattoo 'sleeves' which was radical..
I'm glad you have the opportunity to see them but they are nothing like they were back then. Mike's voice was better, Maurer on bass, Dannell on rhythm, and still that danger element of going to punk shows. They were so bad ass

Zebediah Roberts i remember mike and mh riding bikes over oc, well mostly me mike was afraid of the rifles, pcp, machines and such in the hills of corona and western riverside.
the landlord raised the rent to 70 grand per month. That's why it's gone. I used to play there all the time
The Bowery use to be CBGB and homeless people. I heard it's been gentrified now. The old neighborhood was part of the whole experience.
All the great punk or small venues are gone. There was one in south Cincinnat(Newport Ky.) Called the jockey club. All the great punk bands came there in the 80's. You could stage dive then go get a shot.
It's long gone, just like all the cool punk venues of that era.
ha I remember seeing Bad Luck on MTV. I was goin "holy shit! social D got on mtv ...the times they are a changin."
+Chris Turnblom Then they went to shit in late 90's I guess they wanted to be the family music channel that only talked about fake pop stars and rappers who all they had to do was rap about money. Sorry world need talent and a vision of want you want your world to be.
Great band that's all I can say
Mike Ness we need more of this great music and sound where are you
I remember the first time I saw the real world on mtv... I thought holy shit, times r changing, and not in a good way 🙄
Thank you Mike and friends for so many good years and shows, the old way. Social Distortion forever.
Social d in my favorite years! What a show! Love their sound
I miss CBGB's.
r.i.p cbgb homeless
krazimuffin minus the 👃smell one year later...
🇩🇪💋
krazimuffin no shit hombre
I seen and hit the fattest line I ever witnessed in my life there.Took the beast into my right nasal passage, and my right eye was half shut the rest of the night.Nobody was a stranger there, and even my underwear was soaked.Must of killed 7,000 cals that night and morning.
Me to brother
I think this holds up well over time. I was in to punk/rockabilly and they mixed it up with honest soulful rock power.
I can’t believe my fave band/singer turned out to be an electric scooter EV vegan woke clown fckwit after singing about prison, hot rods, Harley’s, and drug life for 25 plus years. 🤡👋later Ness.. go refill your double hot chocolate latte at Starbucks bozo😂
He's got it tuned down a half-step and hammering the low end. Classic SD.
Man, with you tube, so much music is available, it's great : )
As someone who never saw them until the late 90’s, this is a REAL TREAT. W O W. Lovin this!
If you've never been to CBGB's, it was about the size of a Subway sandwich restaurant.
and using the bathroom was quite an experience.
This is my favourite Gig of Social Distortion ever! Great Concert, Best Band
i have been a Social D fan forever, and this concert rocks hard!
so you're a punker eh? LMFAO
“You can run all your life, but not go anywhere”…..I can relate to this lyric.
This band is so underrated. To this day they have yet to sell out. Thank you for sharing.
Mike is now a total, complete sellout. Sad.
@spungar patar wtf does that supposed to mean (pretty sure Mike's a millionaire) He was referring to the band butchering their own songs being a bunch of hacks
Mike owns a bunch of real estate in Orange County.
@@marcatkinson5187 Because he cleaned/grew up? He's always stayed true to his music - nothing wrong with making a few dimes after living in the gutter trying to make it for many years. And who the fuck are you displaying all this knowledge - mate of his?
@@marcatkinson5187 So he doesn't subscribed to conservative beliefs he's a sellout?
I'm so glad that I saw them in 1990. This is one awesome video available on TH-cam. Thank you to whoever posted it.
Greatest American punk rock band there is, STOP!!! Orange County forever! I saw these guys the first time at 14, then i saw them 53 more times, and counting!

u want a cookie?
@@iggypopisgod9 No cookie needed . Thanks for asking f@cktard.
SD remind me of being in London in the early 1980’s as a college student and the bands I would hear in the clubs - excellent content boys!
Only hardcore folks had sleeve tats in 1992. Respect from Fullerton, CA.
wow... Prison Bound... love all of this. I need my time machine to go back... Social D, the best.
Damn, to be in the room for this one...lucky dogs. Thx for the post
Watching in 2020 quarantine!

SD in their PRIME ! All 4 cylinders (Ness & crew) firing in perfect time. Hell yes ! Thanx 4 sharing !!!
I was there, front row. Crazy to see this 30 years later.
Another time traveler
Lol there were no rows in CBGBS a floor in front if the stage an upstairs like lift a bar lol
I was born 93 so I would have NEVER seen this without the tube. Thank you tube for giving me company with late night beer drinking nights.
and now I can buy a full outfit at CBGB instead of seeing Social Distortion. Thanks world
lol
Yeah what's that all about. I already have clothes.
No! CBGB is still alive......in Vegas, lol. F*ckin ridiculous like The Ramones ranch in Nevada
My favorite band in the whole world
Watch in 2019 yeahhh...
@Suffer In Silence Mike ness doesnt like alt right people like ben shapiro
@@TheLegoboy225 nobody cares. Its all about the music.
Almost 2020
2020✨
This is the best. So happy to see it again and thanks for posting it. Good God Almight, never ever a man.... Mike Ness in 1992. Wow.
Here, still got Social Distortion in my ear and its 2020. 92 was long ago, this is nice to see, brings back some memories
28 years. Man time fucking flies.
Never been lucky enough to see SD in concert, this was awesome!
Same. Not yet
Only band I would stand in line for, great live band, saw them a number of times. SD por vida
you must. do it b4 u die. make it happen
this set includes the best version of 'ring of fire' i've heard SD perform. great upload - these guys were on fire.
Social D. has crossed my mind many times since the whole social d. thing started
So Rock'N'Roll it hurts.
For the best of course ^x^
I was there for this show....awesome.
Hour of Darkness and Let it be me were my favorite songs by them along with Telling Them and Like an outlaw . such awesome songs. Then through these eyes became my favorite years later
Wtf mine too! Plus cold feelings
Like an Outlaw is my fav track on Prison Bound
Badass gig! I was in the AirForce stationed in Turkey when this concert happened.
i was in 7th grade when i saw them at the metro in phx in '86.still keeping it real today
DKs @ Party Gardens ..
your amazing Mike Ness please come back to Redding, Chico area i love every single song you do!
My favourite show sad that I wasn't born yet
I see the back of my head in third row. Glad to find this video - Thanks so much for sharing!
Love it. Favorite band ever. I've seen them dozens of times and every show rocks. Their sound, their micing, everything is just so dead on. In 92 we were even escorted in the back door of a local club by the opening band and I made my way right across the stage next to Mike during the show. Awesome times.
2020 and I’m finally seeing and hearing this!
RIP Dennis Dannell. Great grinder
Best video on TH-cam
Punk or not punk - doens't matter to me. They're just great!
One of the few bands that actually sounds as good onstage as on a record.
With autotune and shit, any can do this nowadays, but SxDx did it 20 years ago and still does it without autotune!
God i miss those days and cbgbs. Best times of my life
Love this band so much❤
So much of the Ramones in Social D. Bridging the gap between Rock and Roll and early Punk. Damn, Ring of Fire @ CBGB's 1992 by Social D! Damn, just DAMN!
There are no words to describe how awesome this is. Thanks man.
I was in a dive bar in SF. some people associated with the band came in and put some of us on the guest list. Just got out of jail.living in the basement of a video store. The bar was where I shaved and brushed my teeth, perfect!THANKS!
Saw them on this tour at the old Asbury Lanes!!! One of the best bands live, I've seen soo many times over the years....Ness just keeps getting better with age!!!
Saw them at the 9:30 Club in D.C. 1990 I think. They were the Headline act with Flock of Sea Gulls. What's his name was cool at THAT time for having tattoo 'sleeves' which was radical..
Radical ... if you’d never seen Rose Tattoo I guess 😂
I just bought tickets to see them
What show?
SixdropD I am seeing them in Paso Robles on September 11 at the Vina Robles Amphitheater!
+Jaclyn Locascio I was there as well, good show. Opener was good as well. cheers
nice!!
I'm glad you have the opportunity to see them but they are nothing like they were back then. Mike's voice was better, Maurer on bass, Dannell on rhythm, and still that danger element of going to punk shows. They were so bad ass
