DIY Blacksmithing Forge

- Now that I made this Forge I can move to some blacksmithing projects I always wanted to try! All the steel for this build came from a local metal scrapyard apart from the brake drum that came from a vehicle recycling site. I spent exactly 10€ in each place. I didn't had a real plan in mind so I just went there and layed on the ground the good pieces I was finding, untill I had an idea on how to make it an all the stuff needed.
If you enjoy this content consider sharing it to friends who might be interested, that would be awesome! :)
For the blower housing I got inspired from "Made in Poland" , check out the channel for great videos:

Very well done.
Thank you a lot mate :) Really appreciated!
I have no idea how I got here! Bloody hell! I am a woman, but I am absolutely mesmerized by your skills and I enjoy watching your videos! People can learn a lot of thing from you! I am amazed that besides blacksmithery you know a lot of things about wood as well! Respect!
Love the DIY blower!!! beats the hell out of the usual hairdryer and duct tape =)
Haha! :) Thanks man! :)
Hey man, this looks cool! Grate reuse staff! I can't wait to se this in action :)
Ouu I saw description right now, thanks for support and I'm super happy that my idea helped you :)

Complimenti davvero!
Come al solito lavori semplici ma funzionali, e che cura ai dettagli!
Continua così!
Grazie mille :)
I've been working on my own BD-forge for a while when I have the time and this is impressive. Wish I'd seen your video a while back, but gives me something to work off of for the next one.
Very nice! Loved how you remounted the vac in a new housing. I'll store that trick for another time.
Thank you mate! You made me realyze I forgot to add where I got inspired for that in the description :)
been watching videos like this for 4 years , made 5-6 of my own forges including 3 gas ones and 1 full proper blacksmith forge , and of all the utter shit that is is on you tube it is nice to find a gem , this is a really great video on how to make a forge ! i would and will recommend it well done sir !
Thank you a lot mate, I really appreciate that :) :)
Can't wait to see some blacksmithing! Forge looks great
Thank you my friend! :)
Excellent production and execution of a forge project.
I love the reuse of the vacuum motor. Gives me Ideas.

Thank you my friend :D
Nice I have just picked up an old coal forge that needs some real refurbishment... forge bowl itself might not be salvageable but I do have some old wheel hubs handy.. cant wait to get onto it.
Look forward to all your projects, thanks as always for sharing. Great video.
Thanks a lot for watching!!
fantastic display of creativity with the fan set up. that's a slick little forge. i literally have the same design of one in the garage I was just thinking of putting a can fan on it instead, but your fan is slick. very nice
Thanks a lot Michael! :)
Another brilliant project...
Very nicely made video - enjoyable to watch - keep on keeping on!!

I don't know what you did but is a great job. LIKE!!
Ha! Thanks mate :)
bloody hell that's awesome
Thanks!
Good looking forge, you made it seem easy to do - will be referring back to this vid. Also, loving Silent Partner doing their best impersonation of Carcass! Have used silent partner on my vids.. Great video, helpful to many i think.
Thank you my friend! :D
Great vid! Now you should make a vid on how to make a Furnace for casting. Great vid, keep up the awesome work! :D
Thanks for the suggestion mate! :D
Thank you 👍👍👍
Awesome project!!!
Thank you! :D
That was Awesome..
Thanks Mark! :)
Kicking ass brother 👍

Oh great :) thanks a lot, I really appreciate that!
Great job , hope it works well for you.
Thanks! It does :)
Complimenti!!! Bravissimo!!!
Graziee! :)
Super video !! =)
Idea for a future project : a welding table
Thank you for the suggestion mate :)
You probably know this already but be careful with that galvanized pipe if it gets too hot it will release toxic fumes! Good work cool design!
Nice looking forge , you made it look easy bet for a novice it would be a big task
Thanks mate! Yeah might be hard for a first time welding project
Nice work!
Thanks!!! :)
nice work!
Thanks! :)
excelente mi amigo impresionante
Thank you! :)
Molto bella complimenti !!
Grazie mille :)
Hello! Great video, You should make a tutorial on how to make an Anvil, that would be really cool!
Thank you! :) :) But I already have an anvil and I can't find that much steel for free :'D
Sweet!!
Thank you! :)
Are you welding galvanized steel? Wear a respirator, those fumes are really nasty.
i dont get it galvaized steal doesnt smell that bad i weild on it all the time
@@mlyes1783 no, they can be TOXIC
He is outside, so let the neighbors smell it. Should have a California Prop 65 sticker on it to make it legal.
Why go straight to galvanize metal anyways? The zinc will burn off after a single heat snowflake. Jeez, you are going to need a user name & password to get 3 sheets of toilet paper someday soon, out of your WiFi TP dispenser. Wait until the voice tells you “You have used your allowed amount for this 24 hr period”, “Please wait 6 hours and 38 seconds for new allotment of toilet paper”, “Sorry for any government rules to keep you in compliance”.
great idea
Very cool. I still use the Hair Dryer, would surely like to upgrade to your type of system!
Thanks man! :)
PERFECT!
Thank you!! :)
really cool!
Thanks :)
I woldn't give the coals that much air supplie unless you want to forge-weld. Less air should work just fine and your coals last longer.
But still a great project!
Thanks mate! :) The coal I used wasn't really working well, I'm getting some real coke soon so that there should be much less sparks and will (hopefully) last longer. We'll see pretty soon!
I love that
You can get a cheap PWM on eBay to control the fan speed.
Or even just a dimmer switch for a light.
Well, this vacuum cleaner motor already had his own speed control :)
nicely done and very informative videos. I like that your videos don't have any more or less than they need. ^Upvote^.
Thank you a lot mate :) I really appreciate that :)
Shouldn't there be some kind of guard to protect against sparks and help concentrate the heat?
I don't know, I saw many skilled blacksmither have open forge setup like this one :) Also the coke that I have now doesn't brust any spark at all unlike the normal charcoal I used in this video for demostration!
i love it
Thank you! :) :)
um aspirador de pó usado pra fazer uma Forja? muito bom. parabéns.
Vacuum was fucking genius man. What's up with the variable speed though? Damn, it's great to see someone build with what they have instead of making excuses for the things they don't have. Just like his wife, I bet she sweeps the carpets and don't complain one bit. Lol
11/10 👌
Thank you sir :D
Backyard Arsenal
Very Nice
but the pipe you used was definitely galvanised
Yep zinc coated! But I was outside and I had the respirator all the time so nothing too bad :)
Nice!
Thanks!
Can we also melt metal in a blacksmithing forge?I mean can we use it as a smelter for foundry
Nice! I like the fact you don't even need fancy tools to build fancy stuff, who needs a plasma cutter right?
Right! We must to use what we have :)
Decent vid how much was the chop saw look good
Ha yeah band saw €300 sound great what make is it .. Thanks for replying
passt doch. gute Arbeit!
very nice ;-)
Thank you! :)
Upside down lawnmower deck works well
Awesome forge. I like the design. Very functional and the way you included the blower is pretty neat. Curious though, how hot does the blower pipe get?
Thanks mate! :) As long as the blower runs it doesn't get hot at all! Even after a good hr of use :)
the male republic just gets more skilled every day.
Chorcal forge really well it's good but the propane forge is more fastest
Yeah! But not as easy to build ;)
Hello sir, can you please explain from what did you make that housing for vacuum cleaner motor? I am not able to really comprehend what did you do there. Amazing forge by the way, keep up the good work my friend!
Hey there! Great job man. I appreciate the finishing touch you give to your gears like the uniform colour and similar.
I have just an open question to make. If you push the air from down to up through the coal the result is that you end up covering with ash everything. On the other side sucking the air from up to down will probably melt the blower in no time since it’s built entirely out of plastic.
The solution might be to use the Venturi effect using a T connection. Have you already improved this great tool?
I am just wondering because I would like to build one myself and I have to decide which geometry works best.
Thank you and again, great channel!
Thank you!! This forge is still the same, now I use coke and it does not produce any ash. If you use it for many hrs at a time it will form clinker that it's solid so you just need to clean it up before another use. Very fast to do anyway :)
great video it is something i am seriously considering replicating. that being said what type of pipe did you use for the blower?
Great! The plastic housing of the blower was water drain pipe and the steel part was a "T" joint for farm grade water irrigation system :)
By the way have you checked my instructables article for this build? You should find it in the video description :)
I really want to make one
Go ahead! :)
Did your blower melt if left on the forge while the blower off
Do you have a list of what you need to do? it would be just a bit harder following by pausing the video after each step... Great video though
Thank you mate! :) I'm going to make an instructables article about this as soon as I have the time, If you are not in a hurry I will leave you a link here as I make it!
Black Beard Projects OK thanks! :)
Here you go my friend, if you are still looking for it: www.instructables.com/id/Blacksmithing-Forge/
See you :)
Exelente
Dude! Awesome video! That little arc welder.... is that just a 110 welder? I’m looking to buy a small and I was surprised that small welder welded that thick of metal. Thanks for sharing!
the steel you use for the outer edges isnt galvanised is it? all ive got is galvanised right now
Yeah I don't think those two pieces where galvanised. If you weld just a couple of pieces in a well ventilated area outdoor and you wear a respirator nothing bad will happen! be safe brother :)
Black Beard Projects thanks dude! Always :)
do you wear a respirator mask for this galvanized tube ?
I'm just getting into blacksmithing, I want a flatter tools add up in cost, is it possible to weld a steel plate on a hammer and clinch it?
I don't really know my friend, I've seen some flattener made here on youtube but always forged, If you have a tool steel plate and you heat treat it after you've welded it I think it should work :) But I never tryed so don't quote me on this xD
Can you make that using a cheap welder? My welder tends to blow through pop steel.
If you can't tweak the power of the welder, just get thicker steel. :)
@@meatsmell8639 will do. I'm using a skid plate from my dads old truck as the base.
way cool
Apparently Facebook can't load your video. But. WELL DONE!
Thanks mate!! :D You mean from my fb page?
how do you keep the coals from falling into the pipe?
I palced a small roud shadep plate in the bottom of the drum brake hole with many small holes drilled in it :)
Hi, what kind of coal did you use ? It looks like charcoal gril :-) Just for testing the forge ? Anyway very good job ! Looking forward to see your blacksmith projects.
Thank you! Yep you're right, that charcoal sucks for blacksmithing xD I'm getting some real coke right now :)
Good nice video
Hi, I bought a knife book,
(the encyclopedia of the knife)in Italian(La grande enciclopedia dei coltelli)The knife that appears on the cover is yours?thanks.
