The towers are the dark watch, warning the people, if the orcs try to get into their lands
@@TauriReacts may I add to this that "Rondra" who they are calling in the choir part is the goddess of battle and thunderstorm in The Dark Eye (there are twelve "main" gods which are real within the world and may support their votaries and people praying to them) and so they are sort of praying to her/Calling for her support in this darkest hour to give them strength for this last battle. Hi, Nice to hear, that you will react to the new song “Finsterwacht” (“Dark Watch”) by the medieval rock band "Saltatio Mortis" from Karlsruhe, Germany. The music video isn’t a music VIDEO. It’s a music MOVIE - and the best example so far for me knowing why I am a fan of this group from the very beginning! To make it easier for you to understand the message of the song, I have translated the original German lyrics into English: Intro: Darkness weighs heavily on the land, the looming peaks of the mountains rise ominously into the sky. After all these years it's back, that eerie whisper in the night. What is hidden there in the dark forests? A storm is coming, it is getting cold on the Dark Ridge. But there is hope, because in the midst of all this gloom the guardians of the watch stand high up on the towers - day after day, night after night, ready to defend our families and our country with their lives. When they light their fires, the Goddess have mercy on us. It is the fires of fear that burn there. May the heroism of the guard shine brighter than the light of the flames, because they are our last bastion from what lurks for us in the shadows. And our only hope there on the Dark Watch… Verse 1: The flames burn high up to the sky black and distant. A memorial in the dark, every fire is a star. Say goodbye, friends, sing one last song. Sign after sign together into the night on the Dark Watch. Verse 2: Silent heroes without rest, the eyes sharp as steel. United, inspired by the courage to die, let's stand here one last time. Be vigilant friends, the shadows have awakened. Sign after sign together into the night. Chorus: And when the world is on fire I want to go through the fire with you, until our ashes unite. For eternity. And when the world is on fire, then we will see each other again, beyond here, beyond time. (Interludium) Chorus: And when the world is on fire I want to go through the fire with you, until our ashes unite. For eternity. And when the world is on fire, then we will see each other again, beyond here, beyond time. For eternity. Bridge: Fires flare up. We are the light in the night. Rondra, hear our choir. Come and stand by us, for we are the Watch. Friends, be careful (Fires flare up.) on the Dark Watch! Be the shield wall at the end of the world. (We are the light in the night.) Hold the tower (Rondra, hear our choir.) also in the Orcs’ attack! Stand together, for we are the Watch. (Come and stand by us, for we are the Watch.) Chorus: And when the world is on fire I want to go through the fire with you, until our ashes unite. For eternity. And when the world is on fire, then we will see each other again, beyond here, beyond time. For eternity. Have fun. Can’t wait to watch your reaction. Best regards form Germany. 😉

the looming peaks of the mountains rise ominously into the sky.
After all these years it's back, that eerie whisper in the night.
What is hidden there in the dark forests?
A storm is coming, it is getting cold on the Dark Ridge.
But there is hope, because in the midst of all this gloom

When they light their fires, the Goddess have mercy on us.
It is the fires of fear that burn there.
May the heroism of the guard shine brighter than the light of the flames,
because they are our last bastion from what lurks for us in the shadows.
And our only hope there on the Dark Watch…
Verse 1:
The flames burn high up
to the sky black and distant.
A memorial in the dark,
every fire is a star.
Say goodbye, friends,
sing one last song.
Sign after sign together into the night
on the Dark Watch.
Verse 2:
Silent heroes without rest,
the eyes sharp as steel.
United, inspired by the courage to die,
let's stand here one last time.
Be vigilant friends,
the shadows have awakened.
Sign after sign together into the night.
Chorus:
And when the world is on fire
I want to go through the fire with you,
until our ashes unite.
For eternity.
And when the world is on fire,
then we will see each other again,
beyond here, beyond time.

Come and stand by us, for we are the Watch.
