The narrator in the Beginning is a famous voiceactor in Germany and great in dubbing movies. In the Pirates of the Caribbean he speaks the lines of Joshamee Gibbs when he spins his tales! And in Babylon 5 the character Londo Molari. Love the voice

It is about the region Finsterkamm (something like dark mountains) in Aventuria (Das Schwarze Auge RPG, The Dark Eye) where the lands of humans and orcs collide. The towers are the dark watch, warning the people, if the orcs try to get into their lands

@@TauriReacts may I add to this that "Rondra" who they are calling in the choir part is the goddess of battle and thunderstorm in The Dark Eye (there are twelve "main" gods which are real within the world and may support their votaries and people praying to them) and so they are sort of praying to her/Calling for her support in this darkest hour to give them strength for this last battle. Prayers in The Dark Eye become stronger the more people participate. Shivers all over my body! I loved your reaction, so heartfelt!

I’ve read (and heard) a lot about the awesome music and fighting scenes and whatnot, and how badass these guys were.
And, well, yes, it is, and yes, they were indeed.
But there is so much more in the video than that.
There really is, it's so well done!
the 3 people you see at the end that you dont see the faces of is thought to be the next band to be in the next song/video.
At 2:11 in the video you see Bernhard Hennen (in his role as a dying knight). He is the best-known german author of fantasy novels and also wrote stories for the german role-playing game system "The Dark Eye". 😉
Two of the most influentail TheDarkEye Campaigns were also written by him (PhileassonSaga and Jahr des Greifen). :D
Wow! Oh Jesus! I transported myself to the Middle Ages, just listening to the music and focusing on Tauri and his reactions! Man, like I left my body and came back! Jesus! What a show of production, scenery… clothing… people… rehearsals to use swords and other instruments of the time… Caraca… Visigoth Tribes x Barbarians? Man! I'm biting my nails here! The music involves us so much along with the scenes that we forget to list the instruments, the background choir! Bright! And what music!! The arrangement/lyrics/vocals/instruments are sensational! And yes, Tauri, countless people died like this! And we were there in the middle of that battle, of other battles, and how many gave their lives, because the action is so fast that there is no time to think, just act. Wow, that's why my soul went in projection to the place! Back to the past! And the feeling is that I'm there in the film! Jesus! I remembered the movie Braveheart with Mel Gibson! Barbarian invasion, destruction, woohoo! How these bands manage to show this show! Congratulations to the scenic team! And Tauri is worth an interview with everyone here. Curious to know how they built all this? Thank you Tauri for this show! Thank you for bringing this adventure of diving into history and experiencing it! It is related to the German roleplaying game The Dark Eye - so those guys would be the garrison of the Finsterwacht watch towers trying to warn the rest of countdom Weiden of the coming Orc invasion. Weiden and the rest of the Mittelreich are basically the Holy Roman Empire during its heyday - so no classical babarians and visigoths I fear.

Blind Guardian is legend! They are around since the 80s and are one of the founders of the genre "Powermetal". Especially their early works have a strong connection to JRR Tolkien and other fantasy themes. Check them out!

What a great reaction. I am such a sucker for bravery in the face of impossible odds and last stands, this song gives me goosebumps and shivers even after listening it for easily more than fifty times by now..
The prayer to Rondra is the strongest part of the song, IMO, and I am consistently attacked by the memetic onion-cutting ninjas when the song reaches that point.

The 'folk rock' would be medieval metal, a genre of its own. Corvus corax, In Extremo, Feuerschwantz, and of course Saltatio Mortis. Great reaction, great video, and great song.

I am just posting this here (indeed I am bit lazy, more or less copy pasting my comment from elsewhere... )
Saltatio Mortis have just announced that the release of their album "Finsterwacht" will unfortunately be delayed by one week, to June 7th. Because of that, they will, on the original release date, which is May 31st, publish a "director's cut" of the Finsterwacht video. Which will be even _longer_ than the original.
Once more, I suppose that even if you might not want to do a video on that one again, you might want to watch it. All the best! :)

Nice to hear, that you will react to the new song “Finsterwacht” (“Dark Watch”) by the medieval rock band "Saltatio Mortis" from Karlsruhe, Germany. The music video isn’t a music VIDEO. It’s a music MOVIE - and the best example so far for me knowing why I am a fan of this group from the very beginning!
To make it easier for you to understand the message of the song, I have translated the original German lyrics into English:

@@TauriReactsthe subtitles were a little bit off, sometimes. The lyrics above seems to be better. For example in the narration, the subtitles said "gods" ("Götter" in german). But the german narration was "Göttin" (which means Goddess).
