Town Hall was a TV show that fixed up a couple back street buildings and a hair cutting shop. Then built a park with playground equipment call Little River Park. The court house it is being restored not related to the TV show that was in 2009.
Hi Timothy! What an enjoyable walk and talk video about Lauren, SC's beautiful town center, with that historic courthouse being the centerpiece of everything around it. FYI- The construction work at the courthouse (which was originally built in the 1830s) entails a preservation/restoration project that is exclusively focused on accurately returning the facade, exterior doors, windows and roof back to the courthouse 1911 architectural appearance and glory.
HA!!! Your "Road rage here in Laurens South Carolina" line had me cracking up. That was funny. Classic! Nice quiet stroll and somebody drives by and leans on the horn. Good video brother.
Thanks for the video. This is where my dad and his mom and dad are from. Interesting doesn't look like much is going on. Also checked out your grey court sc video. Cool stuff.
Man I remember the record shop towards the end then the gas station that use to sit on the corner man seeing it in video takes you back thru time remembering what was there what has came and gone what’s here to stay etc
I was raised in laurens County I haven't lived there in almost 10 years some of the places I don't remember shame laurens shut down another movie theater if it was shut down
@TimothyFrench I agree guess not many families want to spend money on a family night at the theaters anymore and just stay in nowadays I get not all families can afford it but still it's disappointing it happens
The town is clearly trying to attract new business with the well maintained buildings and public square. I hope they succeed. I wonder what the housing situation is like. I'll have to research. You are doing a great service by showcasing these little known places.
A few years ago the theater was perched by the college in Clinton. Last time I was in there it was a cafe up front and a small screening room in the back.
A lot of town centers are losing their business to the big chains and franchises that surround them. That’s why I’m doing this video series, hoping to encourage people and independent businesses to return. Thanks for watching and asking the question.👍
@@TimothyFrench thanks for your efforts. As you’ve said, we need to support local businesses. I live in Greenville which has a vibrant downtown, as you may know. The town of Greer has also done a lot to improve commerce and downtown activity. That’s all good to see. The insurance companies and city councils have not helped when it comes to covering inordinate insurance premiums for restaurants and clubs serving alcohol. Something should be done about that.
I grew up in Laurens. I have friends and family who love it there, but I felt like I was born in the wrong place. I found it limited and limiting. Moving to California was the best thing I ever did.
This place is where my dad was born, brings back memories😂😂

Thanks for the info. Thomas. 👍

I love what they are doing to preserve the look of the old courthouse.
Thanks for the info👍
Thanks for showing a map with the location :)
You’re welcome. I should’ve being doing that in my videos from the beginning
Thank you for this delightful tour. I think that this will be my next home. Blessings
Blessings to you as well. I’m glad you found a new town to love.

Thank you, Steve. I’m glad you appreciate my humor. It can be dry at times.😀

Thanks, I believe these towns are growing due to people moving into the area.
@@TimothyFrench I think you are right with the rising cost of living near a city seems to be really out of control.
Definitely.

Walking through these towns takes me back as well, to a time when everything and everybody went downtown.
Thanks for watching and posting.👍
@@TimothyFrench yes sir absolutely
Another quality tour. Thanks Timothy.
Thank you.
i live here
Thanks. What a cute downtown.
You’re welcome 👍

I miss the old theaters too. Big screen TV’s and streaming services hurt their businesses I’m sure.

Thank you. And I agree, they are clearly headed in the right direction.👍
They do show movies
That’s awesome. 👍

@theshortschanal2723 Thanks for the information. And thanks for watching 👍
If SC was to get an enema........Laurens would be the place where the tube goes.
Echo has a lot of history behind it, watch the movie Burden it tells a darker side of Laurens sad history.
Thanks, I will do that. 👍
Nobody on the streets. What’s up with that?
