Worked behind the bar there for 2 years, 2003-2005 and loved every minute of it. Met some great people both staff and customers. The club may have died but the memories will live forever
You would have served me many times on a Friday night 🥰. What a place. 2 years every Friday,a minibus full of us from Rhyl ,I get chills watching this. The whole world was in love for 3 years and we were part of it. Thankyou for serving me 🙏✌️
I get chills down my spine watching this and i cry ,so happy to hsve been a part of this amazing club for 2 years, every friday night ,a mini bus full of us from rhyl ,the whole club was in love. I so miss those days. Im so happy to have bern a part of it and i may have met many of you that are commenting ,thankyou fir being part of my life for a few beautiful years. I wish you all happiness and peace forever 🥰♥️✌️🥺🥺🥺. X
Watching this back makes me so sad, even 10 years later. It was a fantastic club and it's so missed just like Maximes. Both clubs gone. Kids these days don't know what they missed. Best night out ever especially at the Pier.
I met my hubby there. I used to go to under 18's every Thursday & Sunday then started going every Friday & Saturday , we have been together since 1991 & married for 14yrs. We made some great friends. Some fantastic nights & memories..... Phil & big Dave on the door, terry (owner), Malcolm, nipper (rip) , bar staff & cleaners and too many to mention. The best days of our lives spent there! BEST MEMORIES 1990-1993/4
Oh my god..... this just completely broke my heart. It's gone, all gone and it'll never come back.. all the bullshit about change being progress. Don't let anyone fool you. It isn't progress. Those days were the pinnacle of life. It will never be that good again. To see the Pier looking like that is just awful. The ghosts of all those memories....... Oh my god.... all those happy people, meeting, growing, loving, resisting being controlled and celebrating life together. Gone. Scattered. Awful, just awful. They took the spirit of a generation and trashed it when they shut the pier. Life will never be the same....
Brought back some great memories watching that , spent every friday night there and can picture myself and my mates in every clip ;) R.i.P wigan pier you were the best...
Aw thanks this is so sad i went past wigan pier yesterday and it was so sad because it was all gone and there was just a building there saying wigan pier 2 and 3 and there's only the canal that's left there 💔💔💔💔💔😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Had amazing nights back in the early and mid 90's. Now in my late 40's and would give anything for one more mad night at the Pier. Loved going in them Loo's to come up on my pill and the little old woman banging on the door if you where in there to long lol.
I'm only 28 and would love to have grown up during this place's heyday. Genuinely gutted that this sort of music and nightlife is so rare these days. Drum and bass raves are fun and all but they will never be on a level of euphoria that bounce and donk music can provide...
Top club had many a good night there had many good yrs walking in through the double doors and getting a rush hitting the dance floor even though I couldn't dance but that didn't matter there......If I had the money id love to have bought it and re-opened it all dreams though...........they may be knocking it down but they will never take our memories........
Was there in 1983. Had the best time❤ I live in Australia and was visiting the rellies. My cousin took me there, it was the place to be, in wigan, on the weekend ❤❤
top club memories of 92 buzzin from glowing infront of the mirrors and the lasers bouncing of my high vis, which i also saw a photo of the moment in afflecks.Oh and who can forget sitting in the speakers!
Absolutely gutted its getting demolished I spent most my teen year in this place and didn't go for tears after that until the last ever night and what a night it was !! Got some of my best memories in here and met some quality people !! So for one last time "Goodbye Wigan Pier" !!!
I'm surprised it's not a listed building. Wigan Pier is pretty legendary and known across the country. Wigan council should be doing everything they can to keep it up, never mind demolishing it...smh
Don’t know if I’ve already commented on this, cba scrolling back. I only ever managed to go here once, absolutely criminal looking back. Summer 92, not even sure who was on, Malc definitely, possibly Lee Garry. It was a great night and I wish I’d have followed it up with more nights, sadly it wasn’t to be. The music went really bad, all that Donk nonsense and Scouse House, not my bag that shite. I remember stumbling across the chill out room up in the gods and the hi-viz clad lads that turned out to be the go to folk for your Gary’s! It’s true what they say- you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone!
That's how I gave myself my name on here, I was on that dancefloor and my foot went through it while dancing, I just pulled my foot back in line and carried on, hence according to me I killed that very dancefloor, good times
Definitely mate. I asked Wigan Council to take there pictures i still have the original email with the photos attached and then i msde this video... I said to them there are not many photos of the casino and the pier will be iconic in time so please could you take some photos 👍
Its so sad to think of what a mark this made on all ouir lives, Long live my memories of a great club, great punters and great staff, and of course, D.A.D, RIP Wigan Pier
I never got to go but I used to listen to the bounce donk and mc back in the day and my relatives used to go here and be into the scene. Nothing lasts it's a shame. Watching these makes me nostalgic in a way cause they never be another Wigan pier
Last went 15 years ago...when 1 1/2 little fellas and a few bottles of water was all that was required. Trackies, shorts or work gear nobody gave a fuck...quality night every time

Used to be 800 people in there easily queuing way back over the bridge. The clubs in King Street were just fkin shit compared. Very sad it is going to be demolished. :(
