I am curious about PCOS and large cystic ovaries as a pre-condition concurrent with fibroids and how that effects the likelihood that MRgFUS will be effective in eradicating fibroids in a perimenopausal aged woman. Will leaving the cystic ovaries intact continue to do something that grows fibroids. The goal is to stop heavy bleeding but leave ovaries in tact if possible. I also do not know what hormonal advantages there are to leaving the uterus intact in a family complete patient who would prefer to keep her uterus if possible.

I wish I saw it in 2019... it is the most informative video that I've seen on the subject although I am still shocked how underresearched fibroid causes are. Questions 1) Can UAE be done for a big 14-15cm cystic submucosal fibroid? And what is the chance of having pain for a long term after?
2) can MR HIFU be done for a big cystic fibroid? 3) what's the difference between loprum and fibristal? (I took 3 months course with it but it did not shrink the fibroid)
4) for the MR HIFU - it would be hard to lie on the tummy for 3 hours with a big fibroid or is there an opening in the table for that part? I had a severe pain unexpectedly during MRI for over 40min :(. It was unbearable, hard to describe. Not sure if the nurse should have given any painkillers which I normally don't use as the back is fine overall. Also I imagine wearing headphones is awkward lying on the tummy, not?

Is it mandatory to get Gadolinium ( contrast)? I am scheduled for an MRI next week. I had/ have a fibroid about 6- 7 years ago. I still wanted to conceive( did not conceive yet and may be too old now), so did not want hysterectomy. I got a focused ultrasound. The fibroid did not go away but after time did shrink some. But now, the same fibroid is bigger( started 10...went to 7..is at 12 now) than when started. The fact that it has already been
" altered" ...I have been to several doctors & most said to get Hysterectomy. Some did seem hesitant but spoke about a Myomectomy ( which I would like). I was told it would be harder to remove since I did the focused ultrasound, which woukd cause fibrosis( so I asked another medical person to understand that & she said fibrosis woukd occur from FUS, which makes it sticky).
I have now seen the danger of Gadolinium so want to know if enough info can be seen , usually, with ..just an MRI ..without contrast. Several doctors mentioned cancer from the fast recent growth. Recently read in science article statins (for high cholesterol) proven to shrink fibroids. Maybe your doctor would prescribe it off label? I’m going to ask doc next week about it I will let u know if they’ll do it.

My years of childlessness with uterine fibroid and how I was able to overcome this condition naturally. I was 26 when I married Marc, my best friend and the love of my life.
At our wedding, my family members were already asking us when we’d be expecting. My husband and I, the type-A people that we are, told them we had a five-year plan.
