Hey Tammy! I made this cake this evening for my wife who had ever heard of this cake before. OMG! I was transported to the fellowship hall of the church I grew up in!!! My wife squealed with delight. I can’t believe I stumbled across this video. My mom started making this cake about 1973! Got the recipe from a friend and it became a staple at all our family functions and holidays until she couldn’t cook anymore. Then I started making it. My mom usually made her icing a little runny more like a drizzle. Always beautiful! Prayers for your mom. Please be sure to take care of yourself during this time. I was in your shoes a few years ago. Caregiving is a labor of love. Lots of love to you.

I made you Strawberry Cake this morning, WOW!!!!! My entire kitchen smelled like Strawberries. The cake was so beautiful after mixing it together, then when it came out of the oven Oh my goodness.......I left the house just so I wouldn't be tempted to do anything until it cooled, when I got back and frosted this beauty, I felt like Betty Crocker only better. Looks so delicious! I took care of my mom for 3 1/2 years before she died (after my dad died) and I know what it's like to juggle so much. I always said between us both we had a different doctor for every body part! Praying for her. Rest some if you ever can. You are an amazing woman. Can't wait to try this!

I was trying to find a strawberry cake for my sister she loves them this looks like a good one. I live in Georgia too I make my Chicken and Dumplings just like you do. My whole family loves them my sweet Granny taught me how to make them. I sure miss her. Watching you cook reminds me of my Granny and my Mama. I learned to cook from them.

I made a mess of the icing about 5 times till I figured out to make it in the stand mixer. Makes it perfect every time. Substitute the water for the strawberry juice in the cake mix. Best cake ever. Going through the same with my mother. God bless us all, it's so, so hard.
Linda Hastings so I get this right, you measure out a half cup of the juice and use it? The berries are juicy too. Do you let the berries strain, kind of like when we use crushed pineapple? Thanks tons!
PS, am thinking if I get the icing too thin I could poke holes in the cake, not tons of them like with a poke cake, but a few and let some of that wonderful icing kind of soak into the cake just a tad. I must admit, I manage to mess things up sometimes. Am 70 years old so reckon I am kind of entitled. Haha xxx

After much experimenting, the best result I've gotten with this recipe is to use 2 (9oz) boxes of Jiffy white cake mix . Everything else is same as your recipe. You're the best cook on you tube!
I have your recipe for Strawberry cake in an old Recipe book that I bought many years ago at our church fundraiser. It's my favorite cake. You truly do cook like our morhers used to and I love watching your videos.

It's been a while since I've made it but will have to pick up some fresh strawberries tomorrow and cake mix whip up a treat for my crew. Absolutely delicious!! I added ¼ cup flour since I was making strawberry cupcakes. So doggone delicious😋. I wish I had added a drop of red food coloring but the taste is incredibly delicious. Thank you for sharing.
