I made a "little" model of a home I designed while in college, and then later decided to build a model, so that I could visualize my design. As time went on, I kept on tearing things apart, adding new areas (indoor as well as "outdoor"), and just made changes to the model, without changing plans I had drawn up. I always had an interest in architectural design, ever since I was a "little kid", and at one point was considering going to Architectural school, ... but things changed, and I got an IT degree instead. But that didn't change my love for architecture. I still have the model after all these years, ... collecting dust in my basement right now. It is one of my "prized possesions", ... as I put years / tons of hours into it (full-time hobby, it seemed like at times), ... and it will always be a "work in progress", as I just haven't spent much time on it over the last decade and more, ... and still has a lot of things for me to complete on it. One of my "hold backs", was finding a material that I could use to create curved walls, as I have a few of them. One fellow suggested using "concrete post forms", so I picked up one of those a few months ago, ... but haven't done anything with it yet. Just waiting for "inspiration" I guess.
You could consider using hyperadobe or cob for the curved walls. Both materials handle curved walls extremely well and provide excellent temperature control in the form of being a heatsink. Primary downside is that unless you live in a drier area, you'll need to extend your roof overhang to keep the bases from getting too wet and destabilizing the structure of the wall. IIRC, the recommended overhang is 2 feet. Big plus: only framing needed is to define where you want your windows.
José Manuel Soto Pepen Hi Guys! Although video is very video informative, especially advice on model houses kits. But resource I found useful for o gauge buildings was Elumpa Railroad Buildings Alchemist. Why not have a google search for it!
I love seeing these and any architectural model. You nailed it! Me, I don't have special equipment, or the space for such models so I use CAD at school or Sketchup at home to play with proportions.
Steve where do you get your materials to build the model? Are you making them by hand or purchasing them? I'd love to see some videos on how to from start to finish. Love your channel!

+Werner Sievers Hello Werner! Thanks for your kind words about my work. I cut the pieces of wood I needed on a tablesaw. Knot-free pieces of pine work best. Drop by my website stevemaxwell.ca for a visit sometime. You'll find lots of stuff there, including tool giveaways, articles and the chance to ask me questions. Bye for now and thanks for watching! Steve
+Werner Sievers I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else trying to find out model railroad track plan try Panlarko Amazing Railroad Planner (just google it ) ? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my m8 got cool success with it.
Okay, this was awesome. Now I want to know how to do the entire thing myself. Is there a place I can go to for that? Great video though. You've got yourself another subscriber here.
Hi Perry! Go for it. A scale model would be a great way to get the details right ahead of time. Do you have some good photos of the old place? Bye and thanks for watching. Steve
+Steve Maxwell I'd have to ask my mum for the pictures but we do have an old family video that shows some of the cottage it was owned by the railway people and one of my relatives worked there so we were able to rent it. I could do that one as practise and move on to design my very own home
no offence, but these house models are not really meant to be played, there more for understanding house construction and what it takes to build a house.
