I wonder if they would actually turn off the lights were this a real veteran of war. Surely when a guy describes how fucking tense that situation was back then, then surely turning off the lights at the old battlefield would bring up some BAAAD memories especially if the guy has PTSD.
i love how he paused before saying "ok" to turning the lights off. the delay really adds to the "emotional" state he would be in. i love halo, call me a fanboy all you want.
If they had this traumatic side to the war, halo would be uplifted to a new level in story telling entirely. I felt as though marines were just there to fight, and make jokes. If Bungie added this element of desperation and fear, halo 3 would've been greater
Remember in halo CE when introduced to the food they were scared. Really really scared. Their helmet cams show them just being devoured by the flood. Only 1 marine made it then freaks out. I know he would start shooting at you, but I also want to say he killed himself if you just left him.
They were depicted well quite often, especially in Halo 3. The jokes were more in part of them being in the presence of Master Chief, literally where a lot of marines held their hope in.
All these live-action ads were just fucking brilliant. Some of the greatest advertisement I've ever seen, showing that Halo's got a solid story to back up it's 'shoot stuff real good' aspect.
I don't know if anyone noticed this but at starting at 0:47 when the interviewer asks if he minds if they turn the lights off, between when that is said and when the camera backs away, the expression on his face shifts just slightly but has a complete change in tone.
It does damage trees. You have to turn bulletholes/blood splatter effects on. If you melee a dead person with those effects on, blood will keep coming out and it'll make a huge blood spot on the ground.
You guys also have to remember its the military, you are either called by your last name or your rank... or both, in rare cases. I won't even be in uniform and people still call me by my rank (which happens to be Senior Chief)or last name. Just thought I'd put my 2 cents in

It reminds me of the guerrilla warfare tactics I had to use playing Halo PC on Legendary. There were points when an Elite would walk towards you and turn around without noticing, if you show just a little bit of yourself while hiding by the rock you're pretty much fucked.
These commercials were really good. I was hoping the last stage would just be a massive battle on Earth with the Chief and the marines finally eliminating the Convenant from earth.
The reason they didn't use these commercial in the US is because we demonstrate so much ADD with television that If a commercial isn't loud, actiony or funny we don't wait or get it. All the best commercial never air in the US because of this.

That's why he made these, so that he could try to get a major someone to pick him up and help with the cost it would take. :) Lets hope eh? That's all we can do right now.

People are saying that if District 9 goes good they may make the movie but I'm not 100% sure if this is true or not or just a joke.

You just have to think or how heavy that armer of his is, like in Halo3 when he crash lands and they have to get a heavy lifter to hall his ass untill me get up and walks it off like its nothen

Also note that I said "you" to mean the character you play as, who happens to be a fully armoured fully shielded Master Chief, who could take on 30 grunts and walk away without a scratch.
I guess the plot for all these type of commercials is to make the game feel real. To make Halo look like a legendary war fought long ago. much like WWII. Makes the Master Chief look like Patton.

Actually the Spartans were trained pre Convent war. There were rebels on the outter colonies and Spartans were trained to suppress these without massive loss of life.
it feels like im listening to my grandfather, cuz they sat and waited for masterchief, my grandfather had to wait for reinforcements forhours while they sat in a trench and had the panzers drive over them.
You know this all seems so intense and dark..But i'm trying to imagine a little iddy bitty grunt running around screaming "DEMON!" and what not...hehe it's not working!
very brilliant advertising, bringing the Halo franchise out and dramatizing it into something bigger than a videogame would definitely get more people to buy it since the ad is practically saying that you'll make history by playing it.

And when they did get augmented no soldiers could beat them. even when the soldiers and had power armor and the Spartans didn't. There are also more Spartans out there he isn't the last. Also the MC won at almost everything. He said i think it was Fred may have been his only rival at being best.

im 15 and want to be in the video editing world of advertisement. i love making TV ads and other things for local business in after effects, and what you said is really true. innovative ads work unbelievable better than normal one. just a good laugh, even if its at the company advertising work amazingly.

They did add it. Compare the Halo 1-3 to Halo 4. It certainly is better in storytelling

theres still a halo movie in production, as soon as odst and halo chronicles and reach come out they will have more then enough money

ODST stands for Orbital Drop Shock Troopers they are nicknamed Helljumpers bacily they are marines but with a nicer uniform.

Halo 3 had amazing Marketing. AMAZING. Shame the actual game wasn't that great. I hope Reach will be better.

well they can be usefull sometimes... especially as distractions, but otherwise too... sometimes.
