That was an interesting piece of information regarding the relationship between the National Security Community and the Presidency moving from one administration to the next.

Kissinger's book Nuclear Weapons and Foreign Policy was his Harvard dissertation. It posited that use of battlefield nuclear weapons would quickly spiral out of control to a full-scale nuclear holocaust.

Interesting for sure. The US completely underestimated the Vietnamese will to survive whatever Rolling Thunder. It must have been quite frustrating for the number one militairy power in the world to see all their efforts were fruitless, whatever million dollar militairy hardware they were using. A bit like the SS not being able to stamp out the resistance in Yugoslavia, and the Russians getting embushed time after time in Afghanistan. It also shows that A weapons are not an option in such conflicts. Israel might use them if they would come under threat again like in 1967, but even they know this would only be diplomatically "acceptable" if really no other option was possible. Strange in fact Nixon got irritated about the leaking of documents that didn't involve his presidency, since they dealt with the period 1945-1967. Before he became president.

I recommend another moderator, her accent is very sharpish and quite an assault on my ears. And also sack the sound engineer, gosh so amateuristic at times !
