    I would not forgive them, they abused her, her entire life and spoiled her brother. The parents deserve no mercy at all. I just wish the grandparents would have found out about OP's abuse long ago. No child should have to go through anything like this.

      I was abused as a child and I can tell you that unforgiveness messes you up. Forgiveness isn't that same as forgetting. Forgiveness is not holding anything against someone and it goes a long way toward healing the wounds no one can see. I forgave my parents but never forgot what they did to me. I did cut them out of my life as I feared what they would do to me and my children.

    I was abused as a child. My mother always told me if I ever accused her of child abuse, she would beat me like I had never been beaten before. Fear of what parents will do to you if you talk can keep a child quiet.

    OP's parents were INSANE. Not only did they threaten OP, fail to feed her, and never loved her, but, once they got caught, OP's parents failed to grasp exactly how severe the damage was. They almost ENDED SOMEONE, their OWN DAUGHTER at that.
    I think that's the key reason why Grandpa fired OP's parents: If they can't take care of their own daughter, how does anyone expect them to treat a coworker who's unrelated to them properly? As for demanding $20,000? Also reasonable, as that was likely a FRACTION of the cash sent to take care of OP, and can be seen as cash that'd been flushed down the TOILET. And settling out of court? It was in OP's best interest that she stayed with people who'd care for her. The priority in situations like this is helping the victims first, and justice second. While I wish OP's parents would've gone to jail, I'd rather OP's parents live free and OP be treated well rather than OP's parents being in jail and OP be sent to someone who doesn't care about her.
    With regards to OP... That anger had to go somewhere. Taking out your anger on others is never okay, but releasing that anger out to her parents would've been like poking a bear. I also like how OP asked her parents why they didn't send her out for adoption. That's a REALLY good question, the only answer I can think of being that they wanted to keep their image in front of OP's grandparents, although what happened shattered their image more than if they had done so. Sending out a child for adoption just because you wanted a different gender is cruel, but keeping a child you didn't want and treating them harshly is criminal.

    I actually saw another story similar to this, but in reverse. The OP was a boy, first born. Daughter was born with difficulty and almost didn't make it. As a result, they spoiled her rotten to the point where his birthdays were more like her second birthday. He lost it on his 18th birthday when they brought in the family, picked a place she liked and even had a pink birthday cake. He left the restaurant and burst out crying. Exposing everything to the rest of the family. In the meantime, the sister was eating cake and opening his presents. The rest of the family made another party and the sister threw a tantrum. She wasn't used to not being the center of attention. Went so far as to break the car the family got together to get him because she couldn't have one. The girl had to go to a reform school to deal with her behaviour.

      I don't disagree with you, but I think OP's well-being is more important than her parents facing justice. Just get her out of that situation ASAP without wasting a SINGLE second more than needed.
      Don't get me wrong. It's not that I don't think OP's parents deserve jail time. They DO. It's just that it should be helping the victim first, justice second. And, while justice is good... It's painfully slow to happen, unfortunately, and if I were OP, I'd be more concerned about my own well-being than my parents facing justice, even though I wouldn't care or lose a second of sleep if they got life in prison.

There are people like OP's parents all over the world. As for the servants OP's grandparents had, she likely didn't know their names, and even if she did, they aren't relevant to the story.
      As for the parents getting down on their knees... People do that when they're desperate, which OP's parents were. So... I don't think all that means it happened in South Asia.

    One thing that bothers me is how the hospital didn't recognize signs of abuse. Just with malnourishment and bruises. These doctors are pretty much trained to look for these signs, right? I wonder how did the parents explained that away. I would figure that they would have a therapist slyly talk to the kid to make sure. Have I watched too many hospital dramas? 😂😂😂

    • @Felix24148
      @Felix24148 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      Yeah that was an immediate red flag in this story. Cops should have been called as soon as the doctors threatened abuse. And OP's grandparents somehow didn't suspect anything from the time the OP was 6 to 17. Come on! The only way I can see this as possibly being true is if it happened in the US in some place that's far more lax about abuse.

    • @AutismTakesOn
      @AutismTakesOn 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      The hospital likely DID recognize, but OP's parents likely gave a convincing story, like that she was bullied at school and then refused to eat due to stress, because after all, that IS possible. Doctors can identify injuries, but they're almost never there when the injury is caused, so they had no way of knowing WHO hurt OP.
      As for the therapist.... Even if they HAD done that, OP's fear could've been too much for her to confess everything her parents did even all alone. All OP knew was fear and consequences of not staying in line. In situations like this, even a therapist might not be enough to coax the victim into speaking out.

    It is easy for an adult to read this story and say, "Why didn’t OP tell her grandparents?" We have to remember that first OP is a child. For the furst 6byears of her life she was hidden away at home making the world she knew the size of her house. She was abused emotionally, physically, tortured, and starved. Worst is tgat these things were being done to her by the peoole who are supposed to lo e her unconditionally. Her parent probably drilled the fear of God into her if she ever spoke of what was happening at home. Self-confidence, self-esteem, and strength are all things a parents love is supposed to help build. But, if your parenst are constantly tearing you down, then instead you suffer with self-hate, low self-esteem, and you become a storm of anxiety ridden fear. So, no it is not as simple as just go tell grandme.
    I had a school friend that had the same condition. They area of her head from about the temples and up erre probably 3 time larger than the rest of her head. I still remember the incident I am about to share vety clearly, and it happened 45 years agi.
    Ronnie and went to tbe same Catholic school and were great friends from kindergarten until her family moved away the summer of 1989. Anyway, It was the spring of 1979, all the 2nd grade student were excited, and we practiced all year for this very day. Our first holy communion. All the young boys wore their white suits with their white shirts and ties, and all the little girls were dressed ups as, well all the little girls were dressed like brides in our white dress and white veil. After the big event we all went to the fellowship hall for lunch. Well, at one point there was a group of about 9 mothers. They were all standing around and not so quietly making fun of Ronnies head. Making stupid comments about how did her mom find a tierra to fit her head. Even at 8 years old I understood the vile and disgusting things they were saying. So, I grabbed my moms hand, because well I needed a body guard, and I walked up to the group of women. They all stopped and looked at me and started telling me how beautiful I looks until I said, "Mommy and Jesus please forgive me." Then I went on to say, "Shut up all of you! You are all mean women and mean Catholics! You are all adults and you all stand here and are making fun of a little girl for something she couldn't help. God made her that way and she is God's daughter. You all need to go to confession and ask God to forgive you!" Then I turned around and stormed away. My mom said the ladies all then looked at her with and expression of, "Well, are you going to scold her?" But instead mom said she looked at them all and said, "You all just got scolded and put in your place by an 8 year old. Do better." Then mom went after me. The priest and the nuns weren't in ear shot, but they were told that one of the little girls yelled at some moms. So, they came to mom and was about to tell her that she needed to scold me, but once my mom told them exactly what happened, they left me alone. And zi swear one of the nuns smiled and winked and eye at me as she walked away

    I am not sure when this story took place, but where I live there is a state service known as DYFS (Department of Youth and Family Services). If she would have been able to use a computer at school, she could anonymously report her situation to them and they would have removed her from her terrible situation. In a way I know why she didn't tell her grandparents all of what was going on until the last moment, as a frightened child she knew that if she let her grandparents know everything that was going on she may think that when appropriate action was taken she may not live through it at the hands of her mother. In reality, her exparents should have put her up for adoption instead of treating her like Cinderella.

    OMG that's Karama OP you did the right thing . Take from an aunt whose nephew lives with his grandparents . My sister that I didn't know that I had until 9 years ago had my nephew when she was 14/15 , he has been living with them since 2021. I am the oldest out of 5 .

    That was my life like OP. My grandmother raised me from a baby until I was grown. I cried as OP was telling her situation. It hurts more than you will ever know. I am grateful for my grandmother raising me.

    The perfect revenge. OP deserves to have the love she was lacking. Her grandparents were the GOATs. Seeing her parents and brother humiliating themselves by being on their knees begging had to have been a great sight for OP to enjoy watching.
