@@nathancraft6654 Oh, well you might wanna do a bit of catch up because ALOT has changed in the past few years. Some things for the better, but most things for the worse.
Randall is what happens when a dorky nerdy outcast lets there low self-esteem sadness and of course there jealousy consume them and turn them into the thing that always bullied a bully but worse.
he is the example of where the choice of the wrong models (the arrogant ROR) and choosing the wrong means (the Scream Extractor) to gain respect and success, lead, not caring anyone else but himself
Its beem recently revaled with a screenshot that he will returns at the end of Monsters at Work's second season, most likely as the guy who is sabatoging Monsters Inc. It seems were getting a ruion with him, Johnny, and his assistant here.
Randall's probably not working alone, he's probably needed henchmonsters to assist. Fungus is too obvious and it's clear he's a better monster now. If i were to select monsters wh0'd be in on it, i'd go for the monsters who heckled Tylor in season 2 episode 2, thus goading him into scaring and getting Johnny's attention, maybe Sunny the leaky leak investigator, Declan from fear co., and maybe even Rodger Rodgers. there could be more. i wouldn't even be surprised if it turned out that Randall actually pickpocketed Johnny's scare card of his dad to get Tylor to come to Fear Co. to get him hooked and so he'd look more suspicious
It's still amazing me how Randall was formerly Mike's roommate and even his closest friend during their first semester on MU, while Sully was actually Mike's rival the first time that they met. Until Randall abanboned Mike when he needed him the most, so he could join the ROR fraternity. Not only that, but Randall helped the ROR fraternity to humiliate Mike and the OK fraternity during the ROR party, and the next day when Mike confronted the ROR fraternity, Randall was also there, presuming towards Mike that he and the ROR are the scariest fraternity in MU. Showing Randall at that point that he didn't care of what he did to Mike and the OK fraternity, he didn't even show any expression of remorse for what he did to his former roommate. But honestly, if you look Randall's actions before he joined the ROR fraternity, we can see that he was already a selfish and oportunist guy who only wanted to get to the top and popularity at any cost. For intance, when Mike and Sully broke Hardscrabble's scream tank, although Randall adviced Mike to ignore Sully and he wasn't reaponsable for Mike and Sully's accident, instead of being present to defend Mike and explain things to Hardscrabble, like an actual good would do in a hard circumstance, he just got invincible like a coward, to save himself only. Even after Mike was kicked out, Randall wasn't there either to comfort Mike for what happened. With all that said, it explains why despite that Mike and Randall were friends in some point of their lives, they hate each other now in Monster Inc as main rivals. Not to mention that Randall also tried to use the scream vacum with Mike.

I always saw Randall as an example of how jealousy can lead one down a dark path. Had his plan succeeded and he dose kidnapped children to use as eternal batteries, once they grow up Randall would probably use them like cattle and breed more children out of them.
@@erinmccutcheon3751 Quite true. Randall is as Egotistical as Darkwing Duck, often negative like NegaDuck (who could also be Darkwing from a certain point of view), and likely twisted enough to try to change himself into someone else out of fear, like Anakin/Vader. Might even allow himself to be seen as a villain as cruel as Cruella/Estella.............all adjustable characters, depending on what they go through and what could possibly happen with them. There's extra-spaces in-between events we fanatics can always make up that leads 50% chances between good and evil. And he might remain evil as long as fear consumes him, unless he puts on his glasses to see anyone someone brave enough to stand up and face his fears. Especially if that someone has also been overlooked, seen not to be taken-seriously, invents things, and was originally banished from his homeland. (A clue to another Pixar character from another movie.)
I consider Randall a mentally ill individual who lost the last bit of his sanity at the end of Monsters University. I know it's just a film, but from analyzing his personality in the first film, I think he's definitely mentally disturbed due to his lack of empathy for others, even children.
Randall’s character arc on his downfall to villainy in Monsters’ University is actually executed very well just like Anakin Skywalker’s descent to darkness in Revenge of the Sith, and Gru’s character arc to villainy in Minions: The Rise of Gru and nothing compared to the Once-Ler’s downfall to villainy in The Lorax which feels rushed because one minute he is caring about the forest and the animals living there and wants to do his business without harming the environment and its animals and actually listened to The Lorax’s warnings regarding environmental destruction but becomes a power-hungry environmental destructive egomaniac who couldn’t care less about the forest and the animals living there only because his greedy lazy family forced him to do so.
I always hoped that Randall would return, but I had hoped that he be rescued by Sully and Mike. I am hoping that Randall will be reformed and redeemed soon. I could think of many ways he could be reformed, being friendly, smart, and shy again, like back in Monsters University. He wasn't always a bad guy in the beginning. I want him to be the way he used to be before Monsters Inc., to be one of those villains turned into good types. And possibly find love as well too.

Randall is perfect as a villain and what happen in MU is all in the past. Waternoose deserves more chances of redemption since he only wants to save MI and stop the energy crisis which makes him well-intended and less evil than Randall.
Even tho it was never mentioned if the monster world didn't like reptile monsters much, but Randall was the only lizard monster we saw in both movies. Lizards may not be the cuddlliest creatures in the world but they're almost always the villain when they're in a movie. Randall will always be my favorite character from these movies. Wish they showed more of him or give him his own movie. They gave Maleficent and Cruella movies. Mike and Sulley were rather boring characters. I like Sully in the Inc one versus University. Mike has one heck of an ego that makes him annoying. But he is a good coach.
