@@jacquelineperry5873 You're right. His parents should have been there, but from what I remember reading they took issue with him marrying Vanessa because she wasn't black like them which shouldn't matter but I guess to them it did. Anyway, I think that was the big divide that drove them to move back to Philadelphia and cut Kobe out of their lives which is kind of sad, but he managed fine as they clearly taught him everything (survival skills, etc) he needed to know to figure out what to do to establish himself (drive, work, manage money, navigate) so I'd say he turned out okay despite all the bumps and bruises he suffered along the way. But yes, it would have been cool for Pam and Joe to be there for his jersey retirement so they could be proud of what their son achieved as a result of their nurturing and guidance.

I am from Brazil, started to love Lakers and NBA during the end of 80's watching the rivalry between Johnson and Bird. Since then I watch every single season. I remember when I traveled to USA on 1997 and brought a number 8 jersey from a young boy called Kobe Bryant, who won the Dunk Contest in this year. I am proud to say that I followed his complete career, our titles and finally that last 60 points game vs Utah. Has been 2 years since our lost, and I still watch every movie from him. I have one wish: to one day watch a game in our Arena and when it's happen (and it will), I hope to see a Kobe statue on there. Miss you Kobe.
"If you can understand that, then what you see happens is that: you won't accomplish your dreams, your dreams won't come true. Something greater will" ( Kobe Bryant). Greetings from Brazil to the Lakers Nation and to all NBA fans.

Same here. I've been trying to figure how these deaths, still have many of our hearts sad, and I thought how this must be what a Shakespeare tragedy is like. Not a buff, of his, so I pulled it up, and that's pretty much how they described it, having the whole world showing empathy. I somehow wonder with so much narcissism in the world, was this some wake up call, to learn how to love again. And besides God, Kobe sure knew how to love. I just love his family. Yes, this is a tragedy. All we can do now is keep his kids, Vanessa, and his parents, in prayer,

Seeing videos of kobe while he was still alive just brings me to tears. This man was a juggernaut of his time. His impact was surreal. I had just lost my dog yesterday and oddly enough as a weird comparison, but I love to think that even when death takes the most important people in our lives, the impact they’ve done and created stays for eternity. Nothing will ever change that. RIP KOBE and RIP BRUNO

Just when he decided to focus only in his family, to be a good father and husband, the tragedy broke them. 💔 😭
