Custom firmwares take time, 35xx didn't become what it is immediately, neither did Miyoo Mini Plus. The plus will crush the other 2 within couple of months, and in the meanwhile with stock is already performing better anyway, so I wouldn't speak of a downgrade, it's just newer.
I got the plus on release. I couldn’t be happier. I am playing games i wanted to for a long time. I just finished snatcher in bed. Amazing game and the plus made it a great experience.
Total upgrade for me coming from a RG300, to anyone looking to buy this get it. Unless you have tons of these and can compare a bunch then you'll only see Upgrades and will definitely be wowed.
Right now I just have MinUI installed on mine so not making use of the extra features, but it's nice knowing that they're there for future CFW's to make use of. I only got it because I missed my GBA and when looking to buy one they were hellish expensive. This was the cheapest option shipped to my country (Half the price of the mini and 1/4 the price of a GBA). By the time I'm done playing the GBA games I want to play, I'm sure the custom options will be more mature. The main feature I want is a media player for tv shows and movies, with the hdmi port it would be great.
@@AltPlus30 I play with the correct aspect ratio and 3x resolution. I don't mind having the black bars above and below because the screen is still bigger and looks waaaay better than my SP screen ever did. It helps to not be pretentious.
@@AltPlus30 I just do what looks better and 3x looked better than 2x so that's how I keep it. Younger me would have swapped my SP for the 35xx in a heartbeat. Wouldn't even need to think about it. The experience is just so much better.
For someone who didn't have a RG35XX, idc really. Retroarch has a steep learning curve and separating settings for games or content directories is a pain to learn. But it is great for power users and I'm enjoying the extra power this handheld provides compared to other similarly priced handhelds. Especially the ability to render PSX with enhanced resolution at full frames.
Seems like a sensationalist title and shortsighted conclusion to me. Isn't obvious that year old devices are going to have more polished custom OS's than a device that just released? And even just a couple months after release, there's several viable custom OS's already available (muOS, Batocera, MinUI). Plus has a faster CPU/GPU, more RAM, improved dpad, longer battery life, removable battery, slightly smaller screen bezels, improved triggers, wifi, and bluetooth. I think a prospective buyer would be much, much happier with the 35xx+ in the long run.
Getting an RG 35xx (currently have an RG 300) 128 gb(I'll wait 3 years for an RG that has analog sticks, bluetooth, wifi,GOOD D pad, 5 inch vertical by 3.5 inch horizontal screen & NOT pay over $200.00+ 12.50 shipping for a 2 week wait!)soon...
Once batocera gets polished its going to be epic, ive just got my device today and been testing stock OS, the updated stock OS, also muOS thats basically only retroarch, and batocera, and batocera is the best by far even at alpha stage. havent tried garlic OS but thats also on alpha, hope it doesnt take to long to get stable releases.
@@ScatteredBrainThat's great! I ordered mine last week and when i searched if it supported, most of the places (reddit/youtube) were people trying to get it to work with alpha images of some firmware. I'm so glad to know it runs natively!
RG405M owner here. This model seems like more of a miss than a hit since a comparatively priced Android can do SNES/MegaDrive and PlayStation and even N64, Dreamcast and PSP with relative ease and a cheap controller addon from Amazon costs less than an extra handheld. I get the appeal of something cheaper, but this one falls short in terms of its price range and alternatives. As for standalone options Dreamcast and N64 do have them, many infact(unless you meant for this device specifically). 64oid, Mupen64, Redream, Flycast, Reicast. Honestly as an owner of original hardware, I would rather build my own emulator than use RetroArch since lately, I can't even download any cores in-app for some reason, and it's not my device(RG405M) since even my phone, PC(Windows 10 and Linux Mint virtual machine) can't do it either.
I would like to add that Dreamcast wouldn't be viable on this one since many games require the thumbstick to even move(Like Sonic Adventure1+2, Tomb Raider needs it to run or walk depending on your settings, Shenmue needs it for the camera, etc.) Most of the games on the system would be unplayable without at least a left stick; same for PSP. So if that's what you want, this model isn't for you.
Idk the d-pad has been same or better than an nes controller to me. I love mine so far. Cant wait for future custom firmware but thats hardly a dealbreaker.
Mine's screen looks worse and blurrier than the original RG35XX with Garlic. If this is not software related, I probably got a bad screen. Anyone with the same issue?
I don’t notice any clarity issues comparing the two. If this happens in games maybe your game is scaling strangely? If it’s happening even navigating menus, could be a defect but sounds like quite a strange one!
I didn’t even bother since PSP is really not well optimized. I’m sure for 2d games it’ll work decently enough - but yea without remapping controls it probably won’t work at all since it relies on the analog stick for movement

Hey there, i noticed at 7:40 that you mention Pico-8 has a game preloaded. Does this model support Pico-8 ?
Nice video, i'm now subscribed.
It does have pico8 support! The microSD Card from Anbernic also includes a handful of games!

What game are you playing at 7:10?
It’s called Old Towers. Tons of fun - not an official release, it’s a newer game you can get on Itch.io. Thank for watching!
Anbernic needs to improve their os badly before they release another 15 different models/variations
agreed that the colors are better on rg35xx

It does - it’s just sketchy that these companies include ROMs

Just go to setting In the game and change the setting from analog to D pad. You’ll be able to play vice city stories without a problem.
