While the EU writers at Del-Rey collaborated with the writers of the Clone Wars to develop a bigger mythology which had long been missing, neither of their story arc really match up with what Lucas talked about when describing the philosophies of the Force in a way where they are otherwise relevant,.. without bending things a little. So, we really should just stick with the basics. They occasionally test a Chosen One to see if they can be up to the task of keeping galactic civilization from falling to chaos or extinction, by manifesting as their different aspects to directly interact with. They seem to have little impact beyond that. And we saw how Anakin’s role would play out with their own family’s “deaths”. While he demonstrated had the ability to find balance within himself and the potential to change the course of the galaxy (metaphorically) he ultimately chose the path, lost friends and mentor, partially responsible for loosing his wife and nearly his own son before he finally snapped out of it and did the right thing for the right reasons, but it cost him his own life. While he did balance the equation. He did leaving it to the living to fix things as his role was completed. Hence the reason why the Skywalker line was so important to Lucas’ movie saga.

why i really think its extremely unfortunate that they never really delved to much into the ancient sith prior to the arrival of the exiles and their corrupted view of the darkside also why i often end up making up my own ideas of how they were but also what they could've been if they didn't get corrupted and die out. for example current project is making up various weapons and schools of combat they may have had or developed instead of just copy pasting jedi fighting form onto them like most do
