    Is it possible that the gospel can be summarized in just two words? For Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, the answer is an emphatic “yes.” Given the context of Paul’s transition from sin to salvation in Ephesians 2:1-10, great hope shines forth with just two words: “But God.” These two words suggest hope for the sinner and is the only message that holds out hope for the individual and a world that is dead in trespasses and sins. As Dr. Lloyd-Jones contends in this sermon, these two great words tell that salvation is entirely a divine action and in contrast to the sin of humanity. “But God” shows He is unlike men, slow to anger and abounding with grace towards those who deserve wrath. In a world full of anxiety, stress, and difficulty, humanity’s great hope and joy is summarized in this brief statement. Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones reminds the listener that God has entered into this state of death by offering hope through Christ. The human condition is not hopeless but can be changed through the intervention of a merciful God.

    What a great sermon I came here from John MacArthur's book The Gospel According to Paul

    • @greglaprade7507
      @greglaprade7507 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Dan Sutton Everything I hear MacArthur preach and teach is spot on, except for that one glaring, MASSIVE hiccup about taking the mark of the beast. I nearly fell out when I heard him say that.
      Please elaborate on Macarthur's background. Do you have more on that?

    • @greglaprade7507
      @greglaprade7507 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Dan Sutton I will definitely listen to that MLJ sermon that you sent in that last link soon. I hope you're not implying that I am willfully ignorant just because I didn't know about MacArthur's ancestry. We are in the age of information, yes, but I had not heard anything about this before- kinda difficult to absorb all the information that's out there, don't ya think?
      I just know that apostacy in the "churches" of Western culture abounds and the Holy Bible warns of many, many false teachers in the last days. I find it incredibly difficult to find a real church congregation anywhere because the greed, bad teaching, and apathy is so prevalent in collapsing Western culture.
      I do appreciate the information that you sent. Idk if I agree with your stance on cessationism, but I look forward to listening to what MLJ said about the topic.

    • @greglaprade7507
      @greglaprade7507 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Dan Sutton Yes I heard you quote what I said the first time. I thanked you and said that I would investigate what MLJ said in the sermon that you sent at my first opportunity. I am a work in progress. I am most grateful to God that He won't send me to hell if I get some things wrong.
      I simply seek the truth. I don't follow MacArthur or any man. I follow Christ. Like I said, I agree with much that he has said, but not all. I disagree with MacArthur about baptism, for example. Show me one preacher or teacher today that has never made a false comment. I do my best to compare everything I hear to scripture to see if it lines up.
