Yes we need minerals, but we also need food, we need water, we need clean air - why do we sacrifice the environment or put at risk the future of our farmers, our fishermen - for the profits a few businessmen and foreigners make. Its not correct at all. Look at reality. They can brag all they ant . The reality is that the poorest areas in our country are mining areas. The Igorots who have been mining gold for almost a hundred years are still in G Strings. So who is making the money here? In a country so blessed by God, the destruction of the environment is just not a viable option.

Mining will never be good in the Philippines. We have a fragile ecosystem. The only advantage that we have over other countries is our nature. We have a great tropical climate, 7100 islands, diverse culture and a plethora of diverse flora and fauna. We should take care of our environment and natural resources. We're not as big as China or US where there will be an opportunity for mining industries. We should look for other ways and there are other ways to move the country forward.

The fact is the Philippines is scientifically in a geo hazard zone. We have typhoons, storm surge,or earthquakes every year! Any kind of mining near rivers, strreams, agricultural land is putting the community at risk. Padcal? Months after MVP bragged about Padcal, they had the WORST MINING DISASTER IN HISTORY!! San Roque Dam used to provide 380 mega wtts of power, now only 50 because of the spillage from the mine. Ricefields, rivers have been affected. So for whatever scholarships and schools are given, if one calculates the cost-- what does the balance sheet look like? And who suffers while the mining company makes all the profit. Is this fair? Shuld we even continue to allow this kind of rape to go on?
Promises of responsible mining? it's just like promising heaven and earth to a beautiful lady and once you have gained from her and broken her virginity you leave that girl miserable! That's what happen to our mother earth on this so "called responsible mining"! All the housing education etc accommodations provided to people are nothing to the overall damages brought by this so called "responsible mining" to our mother earth to the earthlings in general and the future generations! Greed of money is really what makes big businessmen evil destroying gradually this beautfiul planet!

Haha what a funny conclusion. First of all, how can it decrease viewership when the community they're planning to put up a mining industry doesn't even have television in the first place.
