I am a Canadian mining financier. I have also spent a month in the Palawan Islands. Gina Lopez is 100%correct. From what I have seen the islands cannot withstand current mining methods without irreparable damage to eco-systems. Stick with agrarian economy.....please. congrats to Gina for her voice.

The small scale miners are getting away with it( environmental and tax issues) because they are too many and too small to be taken noticed. To go after the small scale miners would require huge manpower from the government to regulate its operation which the latter could not adequately supply. Suffice it to say, the small scale miners are smarter entrepreneur.
