Just as a reference for anyone having trouble getting it working, I'm on Java 1.19.3 on a realm, and it works for me. I was really struggling getting it to work, until I stood on the left, and broke the string on the right. If I break the string on the right with the shears and flip the lever as soon as it clicks, it starts working

For anyone having trouble on a Fabric server, I switched the stone brick and lever on the left side trap door instead of the right. Go on the right side and break the left trip and switch the lever like in the video. I essentially just mirrored the build. Not sure if it was human error but I got it working right away.

I have been trying for two (real life) days and it worked. If u having problem where's what i did:
Disabled mods (i was using forge 1,19,3 and it didn't worked, u need vanilla)
F3 and both strings must have west and east as true
Flip lever once u shear right string.
(u shear by normally clicking left button, the same to destroy blocks. f3 to see if its already disarmed)

I've had no problems setting it up on fabric, so if you can, then port your mods to fabric version. if you need fps boost use iris/sodium.

Just a reminder that this farm works on a 1.20 but unforcunetly it's not working on paper, in my case i am playing on server with my friend and the server is paper ( spigot and buckit ) and it's not working there, I am able to duplicate 2 strings at a time but it's not going full afk, I joined singleplayer world and I got the afk part 10 times in a row and I realy think that is is due to server not my techniqe ^-^ gl to everyone and greate farm btw

If you build it to the north or west you don't have to restart it all the time using the shears, activating the lever is enough

It doesn’t work. When I flip the trap doors to stop the water the water just flows through it like nothing
For those who are trying on forge there is a problem. The shear will destroy the string instead of activating the string (or whatever). And for me i had to buld the farm facing west (south didnt work for me). So i did the dupilcating part in normal version without any mods (1.19.3) becuz only then the shear will do whats its supposed to do. Then after the farm started working i exited minecraft then entered using forge and it still worked.

@@Lecriminio 1.19.3 version is not the problem bro. Its the forge mod. And only if you change from forge to vanilla it will work ,also i have no idea how to do those things in server bro, sorry.
That's fucking bullshit. I don't care how easy it is to boot it up in vanilla then forge again. That makes me so fucking mad I can't describe it. This dupe is just plain old dead to me now.

This has to be the weirdest farm ever, but it works perfectly. With farms like this I always wonder who came up with this, and how? How do you get into this oddly specific scenario to discover such a bug? More power to whoever discovered it though. Love it.

If you have problem you need to time start right. after breaking string you have around 1s. And great way to count secound is to say number in head and and Missispi (yes that city) at end. This way you should have ability to start that more easly

also, when i build the second floor (im on java 1.19.2) the water just flows down and i didnt do anything wrong like the first floor works but not the second one
I'm not sure, I'd have to compare yours and mine to see the issue, but I remember I had to set the top string Farm off first and then work my way down.

I got mine working just by sheer will. The timing has to be perfect. (I tried 200+ times 💀)

found the thing thats bugging:
first of all you need to stay on the top left then just break the right string and click the lever.
if it dosent work try slowing a bit down and try again
if the water first become straight then out again you were to fast. slow down

I'm on 1.19.4 on a server with no plugins and its not working at all! I am only getting 2 string after 50+ try's. Anyone have any advise?

Well, yes and no. On Paper or Forge servers (I don't know about the others, but I know it works with Fabric. I'll have to test it out), this doesn't work, I know this works on Vanilla servers with no plug-ins, since this is a Vanilla Minecraft bug, and Paper, Forge fixes this bug unintentionally, the best way to know if it works on your server is breaking the right string with shears then breaking it with your hand, if it doesn't break with your hand, then it should work. But if it does break when mined with your hand, then it doesn't work like this, but it does duplicate

So, i spent 2 hours downloading alot of version of minecraft to test this. Works from 1.13 all the way to 1.20. So who wonders whats the range of version, there it is. (If you found any other version that work, please say about it.)
Does 1.15.2 work ? And also does it work if I have mods on a server ?
All version from 1.13 to 1.20. Like 1.16.5 or 1.14.1 (just an example). With mods, i think it might work actually, byt i didnt check.

Out of curiosity, what server type was your world? (Forge, Paper, etc.) I'm trying it in my dedicated forge 1.20 world and struggling to get this to work, (might still be my timing) I don't get click noises when breaking the string either. Don't imagine my mods would be a problem, but I have JEI, Journeymap, and Traveler's Packs.
@@GrassyManifesto the problem you have is that you are using your fist to break the string, you must use shears as the temporarily break the tripwire connection and then replace it. YOU MUST BREAK THE STRING BY CLICKING WITH SHEARS. Also, it doesn't work on paper, so the server has to be spigot or vanilla. Also, make sure you made the farm while you ,the player, were facing south.
@@redpandaman3625 I made sure to copy the video closely, facing south for the build (journey map makes that extra easy) and I was using shears to break the string. I get the bowstring twang noise when breaking the string, no clicks from the tripwire hooks. After a failed attempt, the spaces below the string have water out by one block, and I've retried with water there and with that water removed, both ways result the same so far, with no dupe. If I flick the lever without having broken a string it breaks the two strings and and drops a third duped one, but so far no auto afk action from it. And my world is a Forge one, if it works in forge 1.20, it might just be my timing but ill check my build orientation again too.

@@ReytGood ok well, it DID work in 1.20.1, but it doesn't now... when i left click on the string it breaks and drops on the floor, when it used to bug out and not break...

Doing this on Infuse SMP right now and it just works for a few seconds, duplicates the string like two or three times, then stops working. I also can't keep the water contained the way you have it, it always flows out, even though I have the exact same identical build.
yeah... do the build on a singleplayer server try it out if it works it's your server edition (edition= spigot,paper,forge.. etc.)

For some reason it works but not automatically, the water just breaks the string and duplicates it. I am on 1.20.1 server btw, if anyone knows a solution please let me know

On laggy servers, this doesn't work. I used it in a single-player world and it worked really well I even scaled it up, but on my schools server I tried for an hour, but the longest it lasted was 30 seconds.
It also doesn't work on paper servers
imagine people firing it up on server set up on some celeron, or e8400 xD
it works great but allot of the string ends up stacking in the little cracks of water every block what do i do to fix it?

whenever i break the string it doesnt trigger the 2 clicks, it just makes a springing sound and completely just deactivates, using shears and on 1.19.4 java

trust me it works, I'm also on 1.19.4, you should wait around .2-.4 seconds
if it dupes 1 string meaning you start with 2 and end up with 3, wait a tad bit longer
IMPORTANT: u have to keep trying and do it fast and it will work

It isn't working on my server. It is paper 1.19.3, I have 16 ping which is normal for me in a single world and it works.
i have been trying this for 45minutes and it simpely doesnt work
100% worked for me on 1.19.4, kinda funny I first tried this while standing left to cut right string and failed like 20 times, then I stood right to cut left and it instanly worked

sharing my experience:
i left it alone for a couple of hours while gathering materials and building another farm far away from the chunk i build the duplication string farm. more than 36k strings was just dropped on the ground and made my game glitchy. Had to use mcselector to delete all the entities on the chunk!

its nit working because you cant place the trapdoors on a block and when you distroy this block the trapdoor desrois it also
this is INSANE i ran like 3 of them for 10 min and converted the string to emeralds and got 2 stacks of emerald blocks

Servers will deliberately work to patch and prevent duplication glitches + the ones that don't have different lag than a singleplayer world, which changes your timing.

Does being on Optifine or a lower end pc matter? Because I feel like I’ve tried dozens of times and it duplicates fine for a couple pieces of string but stops? I’m also on 1.19.2 version of Optifine so idk if there’s anything there that’s been patched or something

yesterday I tried this in my old world that I have been playing for a month or two on 1.20.4 . Worked GREAT on first try and through out the day several times. 1 day later I started a new world and now I can't get it to work due to the water coming out to high like you showed just before you placed the holes down. copied your build to the tee. but when I flick the switch after cutting the string just like I did 2 days ago now the water comes out to far and knocks the string off the tripwires. is there something I can do to make it flow straight down like yours did after you placed the holes. note I too placed the holes. EDIT: Kept messing with it and it finally started to work . So confirm still working in 1.20.4 java

I may be stupid by why do when i shear my string it doesnt make the secondary noice and it doesnt connect back to the tripwire 😅

so, i tried like 100 times on my smp (with my friends), and couldn't get it to work (it's a paper server), i went into a singleplayer world with creative game myself the items made the farm went into survival faced south and it worked, so if you are on paper, the dupe should work but you have to put the string back on everytime you do it cause it brakes you get multiple string but its not infinite (i dont know this about spigot or forge so you'll have to find out for yourselfs)

All server mod hosts like that have some sort of combat against duplication glitches. Paper especially patches them with a burning hatred
