I haven't seen any comments about it, but I adore how the plotline of Twilight being turned into a constellation/star and Sunny's main hobby being stargazing and knowing about the stars puts a /lot/ more emphasis on the 'Starscout' part of her name! Plus I feel like it draws more obvious parallels between her and Twilight with their naming schemes, which I don't think the current G5 has done.
Also as much as it saddens me to imagine Twilight as the antagonist, I feel like this story idea is very in character for her. It makes sense that over the course of thousands of years, Twilight's anxiety and overthinking would cause her to take extreme measures without her friends being around to calm her down and help her rethink her actions anymore
im thinking it would be awesome if it had an ending where somehow the main 5 found a hologram of Twilight’s friends and played it for her so that she’d snap back to her senses! like a “they wouldnt want this” “what have i done?” sort of deal.

I feel like instead of Midnight Sparkle, why not call her Midnight Eve?
I feel like my only tweak to this would be twilight not being evil per say, more just becoming obsessed with fixing all problems and making the world perfect and orderly, since her main character flaws are perfectionism and a sort of self centered martyr mentality. She could be a sort of redeemable villain like nightmare moon, brought to unhealthy extremes by her pathological need to be everyone’s savior. Also generally just tone down and soften the more grimdark elements (no death, not post apocalyptic, etc). Maybe her mishap with celestia is twilight accidentally knocking her unconscious and basically putting her into a Snow White style eternal sleep or stealing all her magic by accident.
I would hate it if Twilight became a villain I object to that
I think this would fit a lot better with mlp's main audience of children. As cool as a post apocalyptic Equestria would be I don't think Hasbro would risk it. Children can enjoy content with darker themes but go to dark and them toys won't sell.

Maybe Celestia was old to the point of her body not being able to handle all the magic it'd absorbed/made and it was slowly killing her. In an attempt to save her life Twilight tried to siphon off some of her magic, enough to give her time to get healthy and have a little breathing room with magic accumulation but not enough that she'd be hurt because too little could kill her the same as too much, it'd just be faster.
Since the was the first time she's trying this Twilight takes too much magic from Celestia and she falls into a deep coma, she won't die but she can't respond to outside stimuli. Twilight tries to reverse the process and give some magic back but oops! Turns out it's a one way only process.
Luna, Cadence, and Crystal (I'm renaming the baby sue me) are still below their magic overload threshhold and help Twilight care for Celestia for a few years. Then Luna gets close to overloading and lets Twilight siphon off her magic. It goes better, she's not in a coma but she its very weak and can't perform her duties so Twilight has to take over.
This cycle goes on for decades, maybe even a century or two with Cadence joining Celestia and Luna, before Twilight feels her magic threshhold approaching fast even though she's much younger than almost every other alicorn.
Twilight refuses to allow Crystal, the youngest and most stable alicorn, to perform the procidure as she doesn't want to speed up her clock like she did her own.
So the pair make a deal, Crystal will take over ruling Equestria while Twilight will become either the mare in the moon or a constelation only visible at twilight, this way Crystal can still call on her in desperate situations while putting Twilight in some sort of state of suspended animation and slowing her magic absorbsion.
@@ruthcload7727 I agree. If they revamped it as an adult series for audiences that grew up since gen 4, it's a maybe. But they clearly weren't going for that. It could really use to be softened around the edges. That doesn't mean it can't have dark elements but it doesn't need to have all the extra embellishments.
This video inspired my rewrite which includes Opaline as Twilight’s daughter who is trying to bring her mother back in order to fulfill Twilight’s grief filled goal of restricting magic to just alicorns as well as Opaline’s own goal of having her familiar mother by her side without worrying about having to say goodbye eventually like she would with Misty. Misty was taken in by Opaline as a child. Their relationship is not great but Opaline genuinely loves her but struggles to treat her correctly as she doesn’t want to get close to the pony who will eventually pass on, leaving the alicorn behind. I’m still working on it but it’s a ton of fun brainstorming none the less.

Or maybe instead of Twilight playing the villain per se, you could have her be more of an anti-hero where her solution to the problem makes sense and isn't entirely bad, but Sunny just happens to have a better one and wants to reject whatever destiny Twilight is putting on her shoulders by doing it her way.

I think this also serves as an interesting inversion of the way Twilight ascended- Celestia sang to her that it was “time for you to fulfill your destiny.” This wasn’t a choice that Twilight made all that willingly, and thus it would make sense that she would impose the same destiny on her chosen disciple, the same way her mentor had chosen for her all those moons ago- even if Sunny might not accept it the same way Twilight did.
I love the idea of one of the former main characters becoming a villain because they would watch their friends die but I wouldn’t have it be Twilight. Instead I’d have be Spike and make Twilight die of old age simply because I’m fairly certain it was confirmed that she wouldn’t outlive her friends. Plus I think it makes WAY more sense for Spike then it would for Twilight

Actually, she very well could Alicorns can live for thousands of years and being sealed away she could live even longer as before when we say luna when we came back she was only a kid instead of an adult as from before so it may have some age reversion properties.
Let's see...
- There are a few villains in G4 who just want power for power's sake, such as Tirek, Cozy Glow, and The Storm King (there's some mention of daddy issues for Tirek, but that's never really explored in the show).
- Opaline's deal is that she thinks she is supposed to rule Equestria because she's an alicorn, just like all the alicorns in G4 were automatically "princesses". So that's what her character is meant to discuss and deconstruct. But she also laughs maniacally all the time, so idk. Maybe it's just to lighten the mood, so her abusive behavior towards Misty flies under the radar.
- I feel like making Twilight the villain would upset a lot of people and divide the fandom. The mere suggestion that she was the one who created the crystals already rubs people the wrong way, especially after the context provided by the comics. And having her kill Celestia? Yeah, that would never fly, neither with Hasbro nor with most of the fans.
- The best solution I've seen for the Sun and Moon is the one by Sawtooth Waves, that Twilight took that amulet that Celestia and Luna gave her and built some kind of clockwork tower that handles that on autopilot. That definitely sounds like something she would do, maybe with some help from Starlight Glimmer and Sunburst. It could be a really cool location to see in the show too.

- Faaair, Twilight being an antagonist would definitely be a risky decision, but it’s always fun to think about on an unofficial video 👍👍. Also, she wouldn’t be a villain per se, mislead, unstable, lonely and all that (not that that would excuse her.)

I think pony society of G5 got they way it did because Twilight's teachings became corrupted and her advisors fell out of favor. Remember how G4 ponies regarded the "Friendship Journal". It became like a holy book and quickly enough had ponies misread it and treat certain bearers as perfect. The mane 6 even did a song about how the perfect thing stuff was wrong call "Works in progress" I think.
It explains how Sunny's dad and Sprout's mom views came into their societal niches. As for the video this could be a detail related to Twilight breaking villain even.

This takes twilighting to a whole new level… I love it! Twilight Sparkle somehow causing the isolation of the pony races in G5 just feels genuinely stupid with how it was done, but here it makes more sense and shows how losing friends can really be a scarring experience & the importance of seeking new friends to keep yourself afloat.

And TWO, the STORY?? ITS SO.. CAPTIVATING AND THE ARTWORK IS SO GOSH DARN SATISFYING?? I absolutely love these types of videos and they are worth the wait every time!! It amazes me how most of the time fan stories and AU’S are like 9000% better than any canon storyline

That sounds so much better imo, also, Twilight wanting to "reboot Equestria" reminds me of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Stone Ocean. And since it's a "darker" plot, I'm pretty sure Twilight did what she wanted, just like the villain of the show I mentioned.
Maybe Pip could have the Element of Charisma? To give her a specific trait to embody as a potential future ruler, and a member of her friend group who each have their own. (Hope, Justice, Curiosity, and Creativity)
The only issue this raises is the fact that Spike exists and he’d most likely still be alive since dragons live for a long time and if there’s anyone who could get through to twilight it would be him. And then there’s the non pony races like the dragons, changelings, hippographs, griffons, yaks and most importantly Discord who’d probably just snap his fingers and fix everything to honor fluttershy. This could easily be circumvented by having spike either leave twilight or have her kill him instead or he’s still alive as an old mentor figure
I LOVE THIS!!! Not only bc the amazing redesigns but the story is just *chef's kiss.* It's not a unique comparison to say our reality is a dystopian, but to have the center message of the show be hope? That the world is not just despair, that you're not too small to make a difference, that even if what you do isn't some grand action, but a small spark of good in a dark place? Perfect. I (as a gen z) struggle a lot with despair so I can't imagine what the newer generations will have to face and having a show that mirrors our world whose main message is hope would be amazing.
But I like the story as it is
I really like Pipp being a singer with a bird motif because sirens were originally birds not mermaids
People can have whatever criticisms they want about this but this plot idea is far better than "horse racism for literally no reason, and something about crystals". I also would have preferred if g5 had no connections to g4 and was just its own thing, it feels weird to try and figure out the timelines and I highly doubt the target audience (0-10 years olds) watched g4 anyway??

it's not fixing anything, it's someone redesigning the characters and making a story they *think* is better
your opinion is not objective, my opinion is not objective, i do not nor will i ever have a problem with people who hate g5, but i do have a problem with people who act like their opinion is the truth, and that anyone who likes g5 is objectively wrong and stupid for liking it
and this is coming from someone who, despite liking g5, has problems with it, i do have problems with the lore, but i make theories and headcanons that try to fix those problems, instead of complaining about it

Also if fans were losing their marbles at the sight of twilight with wings, I think this would've been the push to start WW3. Not to mention, people HATED SVTFOE for pulling the same thing with magic = evil
OH MY, I HAD AN AU WHERE THE VARIOUS CREATURES OF EQUESTRIA TOOK OVER (most especially, the dragons) and the Alicorns were hunted down bc Celestia, Luna, and Twilight weren't able to stop the invasion. Cadence and Shining Armor were murdered in a coup among the crystal ponies, and flurry went into hiding. Unfortunately, my au was poorly written, so I scrapped it. This reminds me of that.
i love the always-night dystopian atmosphere, i think it could make it much darker and cooler

Opaline dose kinda look a bit like a DeviantArt Oc. It's a style but looks a little out of place next to the other desines.
If it matched up in more than just being a fire alicorn and her coat being similar in color to the fire of friendship, it could've been a nice reference to that and explain the supremacy view in the alicorn being the sole holder of power and not a symbol of unity
I agree with you on G5 being dated with being social media, smartphone, and influencer-centric and all that. Honestly I think it’s all because of the success of LOL Surprise in 2017 that caused several toylines aimed at girls to become that way. No helping the kids’ imaginations and creativity, just… getting them addicted to social media. It’s kinda glorifying social media too given that it has a pretty nasty side.
I just miss when feminine toylines (that aren’t fashion dolls) were more natural, magical, and fantasy-themed. Serves as a form of escapism too. Now everything has gotten way too contemporary, and… “hip with the kids”.

i really wish this had been what we'd gotten. Kids these days are maturing faster than ever with their interests, the darker story would have been a hit. It also would have appealed to boys and girls at the same time

Perhaps she brings back the Wendigo’s to try and recreate how the three pony species originally came together
The best plot: Magic never disappeared and ponies never got separated, added in some more world building, future versions of places, background on what happend in those years, etc.
I really do enjoy your take on the G5 story, so I also thought it would be nice to have some new villain characters too and additional member of the Mane cast. Here's my take on some of them.
Emerald Gemstone/Jaded Obsidian: He's practically a foalhood friend to Trailblazer, but ended up missing one day. No one knew where he went or why he disappeared. One day, while Trailblazer was working on his alicorn powers, a stranger came in to Maretime Bay and attacks, going by the name of Jaded Obsidian. When Sunny was taken by Obsidian, he reveals to her that he was once a friend to Trailblazer, only to be taken away by an evil alicorn witch named Opaline Opress. He was eventually freed from Opaline's control by Trailblazer, and offers him to join them to protect Equestria, of which, he agrees to. (Side note: This is kinda like Tommy Oliver in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, but no dark weapon to keep Opaline's control over on Emerald.)
Opaline Opress: She was once a student of Twilight, but when she was discovered by the Princess of Friendship in learning powerful and restricted magic, she betrays her. Ultimately, she was defeated and was sent into exile, away from Equestria... but far away she was not. From within Everfree Forest, she created an underground tower, watching and waiting for her next move, to one day conquer Equestria.
And lastly, Copperhead: A lizard thrifter and a scumbag during Twilight’s reign, he was sent into exile for causing havoc and turmoil. Now, centuries later, he has now returned and is ready to cause for an unknown master. (Side note: Copperhead will be a side antagonist for in some of the Mane cast's adventures, but his intentions will sometimes be kept vague.)
Hope this gives you some ideas!
Okay, I love this rewrite! Equestria becoming like a dystopian world. The characters actually being more fleshed out (and changing their names a bit makes a lot of sense) and their designs are so unique. Making a male alicorn would be a great twist and really set them apart from the G4 cast.
Although I will admit, it probably wouldn’t fly by with Hasbro because the show is meant for the younger audience, and killing off a character through murder and making the setting a dystopia. But perhaps if you rework that to probably fit the studio’s wants (IE a dystopia-vibe world and why the princesses may not show themselves).
Though now I got a question, what would you do with Sprout’s character? To me, he feels like the most underutilized character who would have a chance of redemption arc (and more interesting than Misty’s), and I’m curious how you would implement him into the story. Like maybe after Trailblazer becomes an alicorn, Sprout becomes the new Sheriff of Maretime Bay and has to adjust and learn how to become a reliable leader to the city. Maybe one of his arcs is to learn that he doesn’t have to be like Trailblazer and just be his own pony.
This was a fun rewrite to listen through, the only part of G5 I watched so far was the movie. I like this take on Twi being a villian she in my mind would be a very epic tragic villian and prob would have a face heel turn at the end of her villiany cause at the end her actions stem from wanting to help ponies. Also I love all your redesigns here they are chef's kiss and so imaginative!

I have always enjoyed the idea of Twilight becoming a villain, it just fits her character in an odd way that I can't quite put my finger on. Without Spike and her friends, and her love (because I like to think she was foolish enough to marry despite being an alicorn), she's essentially a lonely immortal, and I don't know if it's the hopeless romantic in me, the part of me that loves using my favorites as punching bags, or what, but I'd imagine that would drive just about anyone insane.
I gotta say, this is much better than the G5 we actually got. Giving Twilight more emphasis on the lore. Great Job Gal! 👍

Yes, Hitch should have become the alicorn. He is responsible, he cares a lot, he is strong, he allows himself to be shown proof of unicorns and pegasi not being evil. He also has a thing for rules, which would be good in a powerful leader if used correctly.
Like.... he was set up to be so much... and then the series dumbed him down and just made him a dragon-dad.
I don't really like the whole idea of Twilight being bitter that her friends died (especially if she is meant to die, too.) but other than that, I REALLY like the idea of this plot! Like, this is really good, the story is captivating, the designs are SO pleasant to look at- it's just nice and I'd love to see how this kind of story would play out. (See what the conflicts are like, etc).

Amazing redesigns and revisions of concepts, especially in letting Hitch be an alicorn. I agree that many of the names had too similar of sounds- that's something I try to avoid when naming characters. It also keeps the random-human-naming of Izzy away.

People’s concept’s always find themselves interesting me more than the actual official material.
I really like this, but the only thing that doesn't sit right with me is the twilight thing, sure she can be a bit obsessive and paranoid but I don't think she'd ever do something like that, so I'd say just make it a whole new character and that'd be fixed, maybe make it flurry heart because she is the blankest slate and it puts a different spin on the "she's sPeCiAl" that was in her og character, and nothing really happened with her being the one to defeat twilight, so making it the other way round just makes if flow better, and could also be a twist on her element thingy, a mix of love and shield could be protection or something like that that could easily be pushed to work

Really Interesting concept, but I don’t like the idea of Twilight going rogue and causing all that choas. She deserves a more honorable ending in my opinion.
Genuinely one of my favourite videos on this entire site now, I would watch the heck out of a show like this

Wow, I really enjoyed watching all of that, and I recently watched your video on the Guardians as well. I have to say, I love your creativity and your art style. It's really beautiful!
Now, onto my thoughts of this particular direction they could've gone with G5;
I love it, but it's not a kid-friendly sort of show. If they killed off everyone, along with making Twilight the antagonist and murdering Princess Celestia, it wouldn't be as kid-friendly as G4 (which makes it an EXCELLENT sequel to G4 so that the show grows with its audience, but alas, it is not to be).
However, Twilight COULD still be an antagonist with this being kid-friendly.
Here's my own thoughts on how Twilight could be a villain and still not be a VILLAIN, you know?
After the Elements of Harmony died, the magic of the world became more unstable, hurting people, making villains more common, spouting chaos and destruction all across Equestria. Twilight Sparkle saw that her people were suffering, so she went to the other Alicorns to plead for their help in sealing away this chaotic power and restoring the balance.
The process would be extremely dangerous, syphoning magic through Twilight in order for her to then be able to seal it away. Eventually (after yet another brutal attack on the land) the other alicorns agreed.
They managed to seal the chaotic magic away, but some of it left a taint on Twilight Sparkle, corrupting her own magic so that she could no longer use her power predictably. The other alicorns started treating her with kid gloves, seeing her as unstable. Seeing as Twilight has always been paranoid and a bit over-the-top in her need for perfection, this treatment upsets her.
Feeling a desperate need to prove herself, she starts looking for problems that she can fix. As luck would have it, an Ursa Major is on a rampage after some foolish ponies disturbed it from its sleep. It has a magical power strong enough to raze entire cities to the ground.
Twilight goes after the Ursa Major without telling the other alicorns, and decides to use a spell to stop it. A simple shielding spell, it should repel magic to protect the city.
Unfortunately, it does the opposite.
The spell starts pulling magic not only from the Ursa Major, but from the entirety of Equestria, feeding it into Twilight, who never meant for any of this to happen. She tries to stop the spell, but that chaotic magic has taken hold of her power, and she no longer has any control.
The other alicorns see the destruction she is causing, and struggle to fight against her even as their own magic is slowly being stolen away. Finally, it's only Celestia left to face her pupil. Tears are pouring down Twilight's face as she struggles to fight against the power that isn't her own, and looks at Celestia. She utters one word.
"Please."
Celestia, stricken, nods once, feeling her heart break as she starts the spell she used to seal Luna away all those years ago. Celestia doesn't have the heart to, and starts to shake her head, but Luna jumps in and finishes the job, banishing Twilight to the stars.
With Twilight, all the magic from the world goes as well. The Ursa Major falls into a deep sleep, and the world is thrown into chaos as ponies struggle to figure out how to survive without the magic they'd come to depend on.
The evil/chaotic magic that they'd sealed away (and the magic that had accidentally corrupted Twilight) is trapped and hidden in a place where the alicorns are certain none will ever find it.
Until the day it is found.
The magic is released by one Opaline, purely by accident. She and Misty were actually friends in this scenario, the two of them went down to explore a neat little cavern where they hoped to find some pretty stones. They did indeed find the most beautiful stone they'd ever seen.
Misty was afraid of the way shadows seemed to shift around the bright rainbow garnet, but Opaline was entranced. She walked toward it, the chaotic magic pulling at her, whispering at her, promising power and success.
Opaline touches the garnet, and then breaks it.
The rainbow mist mixed with shadow enters her lungs, filling her with the horrible, chaotic power. It transforms her into an alicorn, but something's wrong.
The power can't escape like it once could through spells. The chaotic magic cannot exist in this world of no magic, Twilight took away the ability for any pony to do magic at all. The chaotic power could influence Opaline, but couldn't wreck the havoc it could when it was in the powerful alicorn of Twilight.
So, it's the goal of this power to free Twilight and return magic to Celestia, so that it can in turn take full control of Opaline and destroy the world. The magic isn't a person or a creature, it's just a force of chaos and evil. It is the balance to goodness and order. Then it makes sense why Opaline is the single-minded villain who wants to take over the world. That's exactly what this entity wants too.
Cut to the new main five. They want to restore magic in the world for whatever reason (honestly I only watched the first movie of G5 and didn't get into anything after that), and they search for the five keys to Twilight's prison. Each of them is able to unlock one of the keys through the element hidden within them (again, I have absolutely no idea how it works in the show as I haven't seen it).
The reason the prison was sealed with those five keys, was because Luna wanted to pay tribute to Twilight's loneliness. She can understand what it feels like to be sealed away, friendless and empty. She wanted Twilight to have that reminder of how she and her friends had saved Luna, as a way of saying "I hope you can be free again someday too".
Anyway, so they unlock the prison, not realising that they're playing right into Opaline's hands. When the magic comes back and Twilight comes back, there's a brief moment of "wow hi you're a legend omg magic" and all that stuff, before the darkness settles in.
"What have you done?" Twilight cries, flaring her wings, wanting to fly as far away from them as she could. (I LOVE THE DESIGN YOU DID FOR HER)
It was too late, however. Opaline appears, Misty at her side, the loyal friend despite the way Opaline has been behaving recently. Twilight and Opaline face off while Twilight screams at the five to run away.
With no other choice, they run. Sunny glances back, being tugged along by her friends, and sees Twilight get zapped by a blast of rainbow-and-black magic.
And that would be a great end-of-season cliffhanger.
Then they could go on to try and free Twilight, restore balance in magic by taking on the new elements, and bringing the other alicorns out of hiding to get their help (Flurryheart being the easiest to find). Misty could eventually go to the five for help, and end up being the sixth element, the element of Dedication or something like that.
Then they could defeat Twilight, then defeat Opaline, and boom, happily ever after. Or at least, for now, mwahahaha.

One time in the show, opaline said: “I should probably go check on her…. But I also DONT CARE 😒😒😒” and it was so funny because the voice actor was trying really hard to keep the accent going 😂
I especially love your re-plot of Twilight as the villain! Your ideas seem like they'd be more in character than random, mysterious "woopsie! Okay, fix it with more crystals!" I also love that you'd make Hitch the alicorn! I still prefer the character names and designs, and I'd hate to see Misty written out, but that's just my personal preferences. Still, I'd totally watch/read your fanfic if you wrote it that way!
I absolutely LOVE the idea of slightly different body types for the different regions/species of horses!

When I watched the G5 movie it had been my headcanon that the sun and moon move normally because Celestia and Luna were just, put back into them. So if that were true, I feel like destroying Celestia with magic would probably have pretty drastic effects on the world - although that only makes me like the idea more. What if the world was, ironically enough, stuck in perpetual twilight?? Night exists but the days are short and the whole day is dim. And until you create another alicorn that's willing to one day die and become the sun it never ends.
If we wanted the start of the G5 movie to be the same, the story could be that for some reason Twilight finally decided what she was doing was wrong and agreed to leave Equestria and become the sun, so that's the story of where Twilight and Luna went.

I guess I have a new stupid idea: after it seems like the sun and moon are normal, Twilight silently threatens to come back down from the sun
I love you art so much, it just looks so fluid and lovely. I also think this premise is far more interesting than the official G5 one but it does seem a little too out of character for Twilight to me.

P.S. Also while I haven't seen that much of Gen 5 yet, Hitch is warming up to be my favorite. So making him the alicorn of the group felt nice and organic in your rewrite.
Very late to see this video but your idea is amazing! I also wished that in G5 they would include the newer creatures they added in the later seasons of G4, I was really interested in the hippogriffs and kirins and the life of changelings (crystalys being reformed or died we dont know) ik an unpopular opinion bc everyone think they suck but I love the other creatures besides ponies. I wish they woukd include atleast one extra species

examples of villains who just wanted power that worked in mlp:
- Starlight Glimmer in her goth era
- Tirek (he ate power so it kinda makes sense)
- King Sombra (megalomania done right)
Chrysalis was just trying to feed her people and Nightmare Moon was a personification of hatred borne of neglect so I feel like they’re slightly outliers

This video is super interesting! I love what you did with the backstory, it’s certainly a fascinating direction for G5. Also your design for Midnight Sparkle is gorgeous.
I actually think that would be the right level of darkness -- it's not depressing and fully adult, but contemplative in an initially shocking way that can lead on into the new story with interesting new characters where it's palatable to children, and watchable for all ages

Even though the actual gen 5 in my opinion was not terrible, it just felt kinda…bland compared to gen 4 and in general. The rewrite actually seems pretty interesting and I think if this is what the writers and creators went with I would have been hooked.
Ok so I love what u did with twilight’s character in g5!! This is something she would definitely do since she’s an over thinker and always tries to solve a “problem” before it even started. Tbh if this was the plot I’d definitely watch the show.

For opaline id have her being someone who wants to be twilight's pupil for a long time. Opaline would sabotage her competition and try to make sure nothing gets traced back to her. Almost being the one twilight was going to pick but twilight picked sunny instead who was running late. She made it on time for twilight to choose. Opal then seeing sunny as competition and the 2 being frienemies.

Whilst I don’t like the inclusion of technology of that level, I have loads of cousins around the age who would be watching this and they’re obsessed with phones way more than we were when we were younger so I feel like the show is trying to attract them in that way.
Also your idea of the ponies getting sick of Alicorns is slightly similar to my own lore ideas for the change from Gen 4 to Gen 5! :3
