Are you using real hardware to make these songs? I keep hearing more than 1 pcm channel and I know it is posible to use the Z80 to make a software mix and have 2/4 channels, but that was not used on music, it was used for sound effects. I think Sega Genesis uses only 1 pcm channel for music. I love your music but it always sounds unrealistic when I keep hearing so many samples at the same time.
Nope these are just mockups bro. I use FL Studio as my DAW, and various VSTs (Chipsynth MD, FMDrive, and SPSG)
When it comes to FM channels and PSG I try and limit myself to the maximum amount of instruments, but with percussion/samples I don't
AFAIK it's possible to have multiple PCM channels in software and can be used in music. Mega Turrican and Ristar used software mixing to have 2 PCM channels at once, MT is more notable because you can hear the drums and cymbals at once. The only thing that I think is impossible with, for example, XGM driver is you can't change the pitch. There's another new sound driver that allows 2 PCM samples and I think is possible to change pitch. I'm not an expert but from what I read it might be possible.
@@danmakuman The problem is that I feel cheated, I have been following this channel for a long time and after discovering that these are not made for real hardware I don't enjoy them anymore... I frickin love this channel but it's not the same now... I have been researching and it is possible to have 2 or 4 samples at the same time but almost nobody used it. Turrican I'm not sure... It really sounds like 2 channels. I'll keep investigating because it seems that there where a very large amount of limitations
@@danmakuman yeah after further investigation the sega genesis can use natively 1 sample channel, no volume control, no notes... you can repeat the sample and change the frequency, but you have only 5 frequencies to choose and the pitch changes a full octave, so it's very very limited and it can get really heavy in data size. To use more than that you need the z80 or even the 68000, but that has limitations too. I'll keep reading..
@@MartinAlejandroLiguori I understand how you feel, I also feel the same but still enjoy the music, after all I'm a sucker of FM synth. I still think is possible to do something very similar to this in real hardware. Probably the samples can't be as crisp and clear but still you can do it. I mean, even creating some melodies in one sample to keep higher quality. I think even Konami did that, for example in Hyperstone Heist and Lethal Enforcers, percussions and orchestra hits play on the same sample in some of the notes and to enhance the quality of the percussion they used the FM bass at the right time.

I never really thought much of all the OSTs to the three versions of _Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters_ , but I will say that I think this particular track sounds a lot better to me in the YM2612 sound than the SPC700 sound. It also makes me wonder how a much better version for the Genesis/Mega Drive game would have turned out. Seriously, I dislike the Genesis/MD version out of all three the most. Keep up the good work!
