I'm gujrati - I saw Vash movie and i watched Shaitan - I found both Hitesh Kanodia and Ajay Devgan 's performances. Ajay Devgan is not a commercial may be, Salman Khan , akshay kumar and other old stars are like that. Who choose movie over story.
The issue is not a certain genre works and whether his films are versatile. It's the craft of akshay kumar that is missing. Comedy works if there's a decent story, cast, and director. Films are collaborative effort from everyone, and akshay's approach to work is only his way, and others have to adapt to his style. Sarfira is a good film, but it's a remake and audience have already seen the Tamil film, which is way better. Instead of remaking films that people won't likely come to theaters because they've already seen or work in 10 bad films, make just 1 or 2 good movies that do have the potential to become hits.

The issue is not a certain genre works and whether his films are versatile. It's the craft of akshay kumar that is missing. Comedy works if there's a decent story, cast, and director. Films are collaborative effort from everyone, and akshay's approach to work is only his way, and others have to adapt to his style. Sarfira is a good film, but it's a remake and audience have already seen the Tamil film, which is way better. Instead of remaking films that people won't likely come to theaters because they've already seen or work in 10 bad films, make just 1 or 2 good movies that do have the potential to become hits.
