    Top lacing tip: when tying the top two open eyelets, skip the lower one and tie the top one first with a single knot, then go back down to the lower eyelets and tie your usual double bow there. This way, you get a much more secure and comfortable fit... it avoids the tendency to over-tighten. Hope that makes sense.
    And btw, you didn't show the sole, and you didn't fit your waders to the gaiter ring on the tongue of the boot - the latter is a neat feature.

    I have been wearing a pair of Simms Freestone with rubber sole since 2018. I’ve hiked and waded hundreds of miles in them and they look practically new. Simms makes great wading gear for $$$$$

      Absolutely!! I got 6 years out of mine and still going but definitely wanted a little comfort upgrade. Got to love having stuff that lasts

    i have a pair of the simms g3 for a while now. one of the best investments for me besides the pole of course. are used to use old crappy, hiking boots, but if you hike a lot or even wade a lot of streams on big rocks you won’t roll an ankle as easily and with good support your feet will thank you at the end of the day

    I like a felt bottom with cleats screwed in. I like those Simms so I'm going to watch for a sale on the felt version.

      If I saw it right the felt is on sale too! Thanks for watching and the support

    Simms, very nice. I want to get a pair of Simms for sure. My current waders are fine. But the next waders will definitely be Simms. I'm tired of removable boots though. I intend to get a wader with the boot built in. I love the water proof front zipper I currently have ( makes it easier to pee and less overheating when on a death march. I don't do much stream fishing but waders are so important when surf fishing. By the way we're getting closer to springer fishing 🎣 😄. Oh I can't wait. Have a great day 🌤.

      @Holy Moly Outdoors I'll give you a shout when they start to show up in good numbers. I'm just really hoping we can fish the Cowlitz this spring and they keep the limit at two per day. 🙏

    I still use my dads old wading boots from the 80s 😂

      Got to do what you can! Nothing wrong with that as long as it keeps you fishing

    Did you purchase directly from Simms? Can’t find the Basalt color at the $100 price point. Amazon has them $150.

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors
      @HolyMolyOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes directly off of Simms with the sale they going. I put the link in the video description

    I might go with these…. My old simms boots are really heavy and worn out. These are much lighter.

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors
      @HolyMolyOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Super light on these! I’ve been really happy so far how they feel

  • @motionsickness4088

    How to they actually compare to the felt as far as the slipping goes?

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors
      @HolyMolyOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      So far so good but I am pretty sure the felt does do a little better on the algae. But I am going to get studs on these and should make all the difference

    • @motionsickness4088
      @motionsickness4088 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for all the questions…but how do you get studs on them?

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors
      @HolyMolyOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@motionsickness4088 no need to apologize! There are special studs from simms and other brands that are designed to be screwed into the specific sole patterns of the boot to be used. Works well for better grab

    My first and only experience with a rubber-soled wading boot (Simms G3 Vibram Idrogrip sole) almost cost me my life. If I hadn't been wearing an inflatable life vest, I would have drowned. Rubber soles of any kind are NO WHERE NEAR as slip resistant as a felt sole. What a waste of $450 ... I put my life ahead of concerns about transferring invasive species.

    So many gear reviews, and tips / technics. But, no where to steelhead fish around our part of the state 🤔. Head for the border, or peninsula I guess.

      Yeah truly a sucky deal right now. And been extra challenging for me to get water time this year with the kiddos and work. But 2023 is going to be fun

    I had these for 3 years. They have held up well. But my god. Dangerous as hell. You need to stud them (i didnt) or they will cause an accident 🤣 trust me on this i got the scars to prove it.

    Nice video but pretty worthless as there can be no indication of quality after ONE use... Those boots probably wouldn't last me half a season but they sure look lightweight and comfortable.

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors
      @HolyMolyOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Appreciate your input. This was intended as a first look take on the boot, and I agree no way to know exactly how over time it will do but Ill be updating as I go. Definitely a very lightweight and comfortable shoe. Thanks again
