The past two weeks I have been playing with a small venturi air setup. I had a small 1200L/H spare pump, and now I use it as a venturi pump. Also watched your video about the venturi, but there is one guy who does all these experiments with different types of venturi nozzles which create micro bubbles. I am really happy about the result. Despite the fact that the capacity doesn't seem like much with my 1200 L/H pump the micro bubbles that it creates are much better for the entire system than a traditional air pump, no matter how much capacity a traditional air pump has. I can pump 95 L/H with my air pump, but it still can't beat the venturi style air input. My fish are far more active since I am using the venturi air pump. The oxygen input from the venturi style pump gets carried through the entire system. Which is really noticeable.
I also bought some mineral clay. And I am amazed to see what a difference that makes. I had bought some poppy seeds, and they had included some clay so that you could make seed balls. As an experiment I used some of that clay as an additive for my grow beds, and the results were amazing. Green leafs, and the hair algae started to vanish. Now I bought a small bucket of mineral clay dedicated for ponds. And again the results are very good. The leafs from my strawberry plants started to turn yellow again, but each time when I ad the clay minerals they turn green again. So now I keep using that as an additive. And day by day I can see the plants recover. And I must say that I have never ever seen that much growth in my pond and looking that healthy.
I just bought the cheapest version. It isn't exactly cheap. And the fancy Japanese sounding brand names are ridiculously expensive. Luckily a small bucket goes a long way. I can do several years with it. I watched your video about mineral nutrient additives. Excellent video.
I also bought 2 digital water temperature gauges. I've put one in the pond, and one in my radial flow filter. They were really cheap, but now I can immediately see the water temperature. Right now we have some hot weather in the Netherlands, and the water was around 22,5 Celsius in no time at all. So I made some adjustments to bring down the temperature a bit. And that worked great. Now the temperature is around 19,8 Celsius in the morning. And during the day it goes up about 1 degree Celsius or so. But we still have relative cold nights, so that helps a lot as well.
I also bought 3 pond filter brushes for the radial flow filter. I suppose that some extra surface area never hurts. Because I have a figure 8 setup with my pond and sump tank and the grow beds, with the sump tank in the middle, I still use a regular pond filter and a radial flow filter that is situated in front of the pond filter for the pond side of my setup. And that works like a charm.
But the venturi air and the clay minerals made a really noticeable positive difference for my setup and the fish. So I can recommend that for every pond or aquaponics owner.

@@RobsAquaponics His name s Bisa Aja. There are many videos about micro and nano bubbles. And it is true that they float in the water instead of rising to the surface. When you squeeze of the air supply to the venturi you get much smaller bubbles.
It is an interesting subject. That's for sure.

Im a fisherman I consider myself an expert when it comes to fish edibility. I catch and eat red snapper on a monthly basis out of the gulf of Mexico. It's one of the best tasting fish in the ocean. I also frequently catch southern flounder. Again, one of the best. I've caught and eaten a boat load of fish over my lifetime. MahiMahi, wahoo, white marlin, swordfish, speckled trout, red fish, grouper, amber jack, parrot fish, spadefish, blue runner, largemouth bass, catfish, trigger fish. I've caught and eaten all of these...
I raised 14 tilapia last year using this method and I'm doing it again this year. It's totally worth it. The meat was white and neutral. No pond taste. No fish taste. I fed them koi food and the went from 1" fingerlings to 2lb dinner plate sized fish in 7 months.
