    Have you tried to dye your yarn with henna before? I feel like henna may be really beautiful - especially with Theo's white coat! Thanks for walking through all of these steps!!

      Not yet! I feel like I would want to give it a great wash once I handle it. I'd be so afraid the dye would rub off or something.

    Avocado skins make my favorite shade of pink.

      Same! I like the onion skins as well because of the yellow. So suprising!

    Thank you for the tutorial!! I recently started spinning my Sammy’s fur using your video and was waiting for your dye video as well!! I’m so excited to try this

      100% Like ARG oops. I got caught up in the video and had to save 283083 more avocados. In this economy!?

    That's awesome, I've been wanting to make something with my dog's fur for a while now. Seeing you explaining the process and showing that's it possible with just what's under your hand at home motivates me to do it soon!

    I really love your videos, but I sat and waited for the finished result, but it was only shown wet. Since the color changes in strength when drying, and most things knitted are nicest to wear in a dry state 😉,I would love to see the dry result.🤗

      @theothesammy  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll try and make another video showing some of the results! I've been working on a crochet sweater with my 2-ply yarn and I think that will be awesome!

    Idk if this would actually dye anything but, when I boil my purple potatoes the water turns teal colored. I poured that in a glass and set it outside-basically forgot about it for a few days. When I next looked at it - it was orange!

    Hey I have a question- have you tried using hibiscus to dye the yarn? Or would it wash out too easily… also is it safe to gently wash your blankets etc and would the color bleed out or not? Thanks! I love what you’re doing ❤️❤️ you are one in a million

    • @theothesammy
      @theothesammy  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I haven’t tried that yet! I’ll give it a go in the spring with the new vest I’m making!

    One time i had a drink from starbucks and i didn't want the fruit in it anymore just the drink so i strained it but for some reason i forgot to put something under it like a bowl and i ended up pouring the drink down the drain... i don't laugh at the "don't forget a bowl" comment because i've literally done it 😂 i also recently forgot the coffee cup when making coffee. Make sure y'all don't do things when you're super tired because you'll forget 😅😂

    This is so cool, id love to try this but unfortunately i have no dog I know:/
    Question: when you reuse the dye, do you still start by cooking and then simmering it before you put the yarn in or can you just soak it the second time without putting heat to it?

    • @theothesammy
      @theothesammy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'd add the heat to it, but you could certainly do a batch test either way and see which one took the dye more. You can also just use normal yarn! You don't have to spin your own fur😜 Also, I didn't put this in the video, but I dyed an old white shirt that I never wore cause it had a few stains I couldn't get out. Now it's pink and the stains blend in!💁‍♀️

    Such an interesting show! I’ve read people use samoyed fur for knitting etc. Have you ever tried using fruits such as blueberries for dye? I imagine it’d produce a beautiful color. Also, based on your other video of spinning yarn… does only fur collected from shedding season work? Or can you use fur from daily brushing?

    • @theothesammy
      @theothesammy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks so much! I haven't used any other fruits to dye the yarn, but I really should try! Maybe on the next project. tehee. I use shedding from all year round but only the high quality floor (from the chest, back, and ears). I find the rest is a little too short unless it's undercoat

    will this fade with time?? can you wash it after your project is done??

    • @theothesammy
      @theothesammy  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can wash it at any time! I find that I don't have to do so because it's quite water/stink repellent with it being samoyed fur and the colour doesn't fade. But give it a try!
