  • Here's a mini-documentary about pelota in Teruel - a city outside of Valencia in Spain. It was a pleasure to be invited to this awesome event and try Teruel Pelota. Here they're trying to save the traditional version of the sport - played in towns on old buildings, by replicating the courts in modern facilities and inviting players from all across Spain and around the world. It was a cracking good time!
Thank you to Rafa Garcia for organising the event and being so helpful. Thank you to the CIJB for helping fund it. Well done to all the players, especially the Argentinians who won it (congrats Nico Comas and Santi) and thanks to government officials who recognise the importance of these traditional niche sports.

That was fascinating! Loved learning about the history of hand ball games.

@@BallSlaps Those four were what I meant, really! Perhaps Warminster Fives as well?

This seems somewhat similar to GAA hardball, which had its championship last weekend.

Very loosely similar. The ball is much bigger and heavier, the courts much shorter and a line to hit it over. Different techniques and skills required. I did a bit of hardball in the last vid. Would be really interesting to see some of the Spanish play hardball, I suspect they'd have some interesting approaches!
