I just tried this video with me banjolele and my wife, practicing in the other room, came rushing in saying "ayup cheeky bugger, you're doing split strokes." I have been playing for a month. LOL. She was pleasantly surprised. Ta muchly.
OMG I have to start off with I love your smile and enthusiasm! Thank you for breaking this down. I actually have just discovered George Formby. I'm from the US and did not grow up knowing about him and being a beginner on the ukulele I just stumbled across him. Amazing talent. Thanks again for sharing! Keep smiling!
I’ve been trying to get the hang of this for ages and this is by far and away the clearest explanation I’ve seen (for me, the notation at the side really helped too!). Thank you so much! 👍
Thanks for your George Formby strum been looking for a simple song to practice with This is exactly what I needed truly appreciated it Form USA Scappoose Oregon Blessings to you
This started out great and seemed accessible and gave me something to practice, but then you go from level 0 to 10000 in a second and it seems way over my head and like there's no hope I'll ever get it.
Brilliant. I’ve been playing for nearly forty years but because I am left handed and can only play right handed I have always found this difficult. The way you have shown it is much more understandable . Thanks for the video
Ralph this is great stuff but it would be really helpful if you showed the fingering for the chord sequences at the beginning and end of this presentation
I've watched you literally dozens of times and I still can't identify the chords you use at the end of the initial burst of strumming - Please help Ralph
Thanks! I bought a banjolele which 20's jazz sounds great on. Hopefully I can get this down...

Thanks for this Ralph. Very clear explanation and you've given me a new direction for strumming. Lots of hard practice ahead, I think.
Thank you so much, Ralph, for letting us in on this oh-so-awesome secret ;) Short, sweet, and to the point!
Great lesson loved the way you played the song at the end . Keep them coming .

Thank you, this is made so simple and I got it first time round and I've only been playing for two weeks! Thank you
Thanks. Clearly explained - now to upset the 'other 'arf' by practicing!

Excellent - Thanks!!!
Very clear. How is it that the very best teachers make everything look so easy when, in reality, it isn't???
Oh - maybe I just explained it!
Brilliant !
Great video

Glad it helped!
Woo ¡!! Excelent friend
Nicely explained. May Singhi Breen calls it the "Beach Boy" rhythm in her :New Ukulele Method" book.

Офигенный ты мужик!
You make it look so easy . I am finding it very hard 😡
Split stroke is easy, it's just rhythm. But it's that fast fluttering strum I haven't figured out how to do 🤔
turn your camera round! Good lesson though
I didn’t know bill nye could play ukulele
