90s chopper craze and Custom harley parts in the 90s put billet on the map, most people had never heard of it, unfortunately most still didnt understand what billet meant and thought it was a special type of aluminum not the process. I would explain it and would get a look of confusion and skepticism at that point you go nevermind your right billet is great type of aluminum.
