Just got my 2024 Mustang GT with a manual on Saturday, 7/13. Haven't driven a stick in over 14 years, learned on an '88 four-banger. The 2024 GT does it smooth as butter...
Man I stoped driving manual for over 10 years (Camry) … and now after I decided to buy the new GT I tried both auto and manual…. Brooo my heart couldn’t accept V8 auto..hahaha
W vid, learned years ago on a 99 civic. Obviously different vehicles have different clutches and different everything. Civics are so easy to learn on and imo the easiest to learn on if your brand new
I would prefer to use the foxbody every time but I’m not the best at driving manual and I got my car a few days ago so I use the normal so I can see what gear I’m in 😂😂. Once I get used to it I will be using the fox body.
Nice tutorial. Should help many of us to learn manual with this car and others. Would have liked to seen a reverse shift. Is gas not needed when doing reverse, like 1st gear, with this car? Thanks for posting!
It depends on the car. Typically you put it in reverse and slowly let out the clutch and once the car starts to move you hold the clutch there (in some cases a little bit of gas is needed)
Does blipping the throttle help with taking off at stops? Sometimes it feels like I’m taking off in slow motion because I don’t want to miss the bite point and stall 😂
One thing i thought i heard or saw somewhere is that for first gear(in older cars that dont have a complex computer) you add throttle as you release the clutch. Is that still fine to do? Or is it actually a blip for 1st gear?
Could you explain what we need to do if say the car pulls back vs pulls forward when downshifting. I think i saw it somewhere just cant recall if it was too much or too little throttle when the car pulls forward or behind..
@s2kaidan thank you sir, daily a single cab truck 5 speed. Never had to rev match downshift, its a 2.2 that's slow enough I can just let off clutch slowly. I do rev match downshift my 12' boss 302, can clean downshift from 4-3 bur struggling with 3-2
@@skellingtonmusic170 of course bro, i used to have a similar problem, id always hit 4th instead of 2nd i fixed the issue by kinda going a little extra to the left and down instead of going diagonally

Probably the best video on how to learn, I will be getting myself a gt 5.0 manual by this year so this helped 🔥
Glad it helped!

Add light throttle as you release the clutch

i daily my s2000 (manual) if you give it too much rpm it will pull you backwards, if you don’t give it enough it will pull you foward

@s2kaidan not messing the shift from 3-2 I meant it either pulls forward or back when I downshift from 3-2. I have no problems going down the gears
