I love how this was the first time Catra was *genuinely* sorry for her actions. She has said the word “sorry” to people before, but she never truly apologized for her actions until now. We’re so proud of this kitten🥲😌

It's so sad when Catra says Horde Prime won't have Adora because Glimmer is gone... Catra was practically saying that any member of the Rebellion was more important than her and that Adora would not waste time with her ex-friend who has now turned into an enemy :/
I never realized this. . .
As would be evidenced in a scene in episode 6, Catra genuinely believed Adora and everyone in her group hated her, and while that may have been true for some of them, it was NEVER true as far as Adora was concerned.
In Catra’s mind, throughout the entire series up until the finale of season 4, Catra felt like Adora was the one who betrayed HER, and out of fear and anger, she lashed out, only succeeding in driving Adora away. Adora never hated her for any of it though. Anger, frustration, disappointment, certainly these are some emotions that I believe Adora felt towards Catra, but never hatred.
Then in season 4 we see Catra rise to the height of her power, everything should be perfect now right, she should be happy now (fun fact, this is Zuko’s line in Avatar the Last Airbender book 3). But she wasn’t happy, quite the contrary, she was more depressed and miserable than ever and she had no idea why (also a Zuko line, but his is, “I’m angrier than ever and I don’t know why!?”)
Unlike Zuko though, Catra by this point had no one to ask her the question “Who are you angry at?” Forced to confront the issue on her own, her conscious and subconscious minds clashed, leading to the mental breakdown we witness in season 4. Then, Double Trouble steps in to deliver the final nail to the coffin, and forces Catra to confront the truth, Adora never betrayed her, instead, Catra drove her away.
The first three episodes of season 5 are her processing these revelations, and coming to terms with everything she’s done (I also personally believe that she sees some of herself in Horde Prime, and was repulsed by the idea that she could have ended up like him), and after this reflection and a bit of intel gathering, decides to do that one good thing in her life, believing that, because of what she did, she would never regain what she had with Adora, and didn’t deserve to, so it was better, seeing as everyone hated her anyway, for her to stay behind, and face Horde Prime’s wrath.
At least Glimmer would be saved, and in Catra’s mind at least, there would be no need for Adora to walk into an obvious trap.
Fortunately for Catra, Adora never hated her, and upon learning that Catra was sorry, that she did the one thing she said she would NEVER do, Adora knew she couldn’t leave Catra behind.
I think it's funny how little catra just casually jumps on Adora with complete disregard.

I think this is mainly his reaction to Adora’s reaction, as well as the fact that Glimmer is involved, though at the same time, even if all they have to go on is Catra’s voice, she is clearly in distress, and that would be enough to trigger a reaction in anyone.

Catra didn't say sorry when she was younger it was because she fought off anyone that might take away adora as that was what she feared most. Everyone she fought when adora left was because she didn't want to get too close to her incase she got hurt again. Eg. The rebellion.
When she says sorry when she's older its because she overcame her fear and wanted adoras friendship. However when there was a chance she would be chosen over shadow weaver instead she ran away for fear of rejection again but came back when adora was in trouble.

@@wolfgirl2156 I know. Do you think I'm not aware that this happens in real life? I can relate to catra, I have experienced some of her struggles too. I've also looked just as much into her character and thought about her as you have. I do too think it's important to say that what I'm saying is not meant as a challenge in any way, and I'm not trying to start an argument. But you should also be aware of what you're saying so you don't sound like you think you're the only one aware of abuse in reality.

Look....I rewatched the entire series just to prove that wrong and i was right, she does apologize before that episode. Example: Season 1, EPISODE 1, when she tazes Adora becuase she wasnt going back with her. She apologized then. ✋😶✋ sorry to ruin the moment lol
That was more condescending, she also apologized to Shadow Weaver in the first episode of S1, but never meant it. I don't think they count because they weren't sincere, but you have a point!
