In this lesson, you will learn how to solve multiple step (multi-step) equations in algebra. First, we explain how to isolate the variable to be solved for on one side of the equal sign by performing the opposite operation.
Next, the constant terms are moved to the other side of the equal sign. The result is that we have solved for the unknown value of the variable. In these equations, there is only one solution, but finding the solution requires multiple steps (operations).

I am in collage and usually teachers skip some of the important steps assuming students know. Thank you again I am going to pass with flying colours this time you make it look really easy . Big UP.

Hi sir how did you get answer 16 instead of 1.situation was 12÷3.4
    It should be 12÷12
    =1 and what you done
    12÷3.4
    =4.4
    =16
We should multipley first then divide.may be i am wrong.could you explain me please thanks

Pedmas or Bedmas cancels it out. Pedmas = Parenthysies, exponents, division, multiplication, addition, subtraction. Bedmas= Brackets, exponents, division, multiplication, addition, subtraction. Division first.

Order of Operation tells us that whenever we have multiplication and division together, we must do the operation left to right and not the other way.
