As a 500k Heimer otp, I have to say it's very hard to go back. I feel naked playing without my turrets. Everything said in the video is very accurate.

As a 1 mil Heimer otp, this precisely. I think that this harkens back to the fact that Heim can do any of the three mage archetypes fairly well. If I try to play an artillery mage, I find myself wanting to get up close and zone the enemy in particular ways or if I play a burst mage, I tend to find myself wanting to draw fights out too long etc.

He's the anti gank, can't tell you how many times the jungler dives into the bowels of my turret nest.
If I recall it was countered by an Darius under Ubercharge... I mean Taric ult.

@@ihate9777 all you need is one stun and the jungler is basically dead. Stun, R+Q, W and if needed Zonya's. Heimer relies a lot on his stun plus turret burst combo but he can literally burst down anyone and 1v5. I have gotten triple and quadra kills so many times.

@@VarsVerum How his turrets aggro works defiantly plays a part they are as frustrating as minions and make last hitting a nightmare. In a addition his Grenade is deceptively hard to land (the stun part) as the time it takes to stun scales exponentially the farther you though it making it an unattractive ability. (I hope i didn't miss something you said and just ended up repeating it here).

Only Hard part About heimer is hitting the smallest stun in the game
Heimer has a big problem: he automatically pushes the wave. We need to put down turrets to basically to anything, and turret autopush the wave till we r forced to get ganked. Fortunately that heimer is pretty good on antiganking but losing such opportunities like controlling the waves making him harder to play and play against.

I find that my main role in most games is to get an early kill, back to buy, and soak up ganks the rest of the laning phase to let my team scale with me. Early game jgs tend to be too weak to gank me, so if I play it right, I can burst them down and get a bigger lead while continuing to draw him/her into my lane
I love heimerdinger but he's very buggy, sometimes his big turret will just randomly stop attacking enemies despite being immune to crowd control.

I love Heimer so much, although his community is small they are loyal af, idk which characters have one trick youtubers but we definitely do.. Also never count out the passive! Dodging skill shots and running away becomes much easier
I didn't even play Heimer and I 100% have noticed how loyal his playerbase is. Its crazy and awesome.

Honestly I think that Jayce would be a pretty interesting pick for a video like this . Used to be really popular in the earlier days, and nowadays never seen. Not 100% poke nor 100% all in.
Jayce doesn't quite match my criteria since his popularity has been conspicuous in both solo queue and pro play for a large portion of the game's history. He's only weak recently because the meta isn't burst/poke friendly right now.
Vars I see. In general though, I think the concept of old champions falling from immense popularity to dumpster-tier is another cool topic that’s worth a look, especially in regards to the direction riot is trying to take league’s design to. Don’t you think champions who have simply never been truly popular to begin with share characteristics with those?
To me it seems like the issue with Jayce stretches a bit further than simple meta shifts - nowadays, You truly don’t see any new champion/rework resemble a kit such as his or actually, any other shape shifter.
Either way, I hope you don’t mind the rambling, as I truly find your analysis of the game incredibly engaging.🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

I use heimer for supp, when I first picked him up I went on a losing streak cause I had no idea what he was doing, but once you got a hang of him I think the satisfaction of killing enemy who’s chasing you under turret is amazing
With Heimerdinger, your weakness is your biggest strenght actually. You really have to be ready to die in every teamfight in order to master this champion. Your outplay potential is over 9000! Not super flashy plays like Vars said, just the right setup and predictions.
XD You make it sound like ulting your turret in the middle of the fight and burning targets for over 1100 AP damage with Liandry's actually takes skill.
@@Agdem_ people might underestimate your damage, but they know that if they hit you you're dead. With heim you have to hit your spells while kiting, it's not that easy in various situations. Once you're fed sure it's kinda dumb.

i have 497k mastery points on my level 7 heimer, i love him. he can be good or he can be bad but he's fun to me
I used to play him as my main when his rockets were homing. Ever since they changed that, I don't know who to play anymore. His passive doesn't repair his turrets and towers anymore either. It makes me miss the old Heimer.
Vars lists the three types of mages
Controll mages: are we a joke to you?
Heimers biggest weakness is that his kit has to be strung together in a very specific way to make him work, and that way changes depening on the situation hes in. His turrets are most of his damage, but *only* the lasers, and the lasers only fire if you land a grenade or all 5 of the missiles. And since the turrets lasers take a moment to fire and they cant get any more charge until they do, that also means you cant do what other burst mages do and just fire off all your skills together and kill your opponent in 0.13 seconds, you have to wait a short time after the grenade hits to fire the missiles which gives your opponent time to leave the stun and react to either the missiles or the second set of lasers. So the second set of lasers rarely actually hit, but he has to be balanced around the fact that they *can* hit. You also have to be able to decide when someone engages on you if you should throw your grenade right away and then set up a turret (making them able to dodge the followup rockets and wasting that turrets first beam) or tank the damage with Heimers tiny HP pool to set up the turret first for more damage. Even when fishing for damage in lane or during sieges, you have to weigh the risk of trying to get a grenade to land to do damage to someone harassing your turrets with the chance that they could take that opportunity to rush over to you, making your only defense *AND* most reliable offense on cooldown, which almost surely means your doom.
He also has difficulty securing kills if the opponent realizes theyre going to lose and just leaves. He has to use his entire kit to bring anyone close to dying, because technically he only has 2 abilities. The turrets are more like passive zones he sets up to enhance his 2 abilities, and even his ult uses the CD of his normal abilities (except Ult Turret, which cant be used to chase). Which means if someone just walks away, Heimers only options are to try and chase them away from his turrets in which case most enemies can easily turn on him and kill him even with 10% HP.
This is also why I laugh every time salty opponents tell me Heimer takes no skill because "you just run around and let your turrets do all the damage". Yeah dude, but my turrets only do damage if I hit every skill shot perfectly, and if I miss one grenade Im already dead.
I feel that last part, most of the people i fight say "heimer is a braindead champ, he so easy compared to my champ" and im just sitting there confused or amused at the incorrect assumption. I do say that if you stack enough ap his regular turrets shots can do way more dmg than anyone would think, i had about 700-800 ap late game and was doing 200 dmg per shot without beams.
My biggest issue that I haven't found a fix for yet is the constant pushing of the lane if you set up all 3 turrets. If someone tries to freeze the lane while it usually doesn't work out for them but is still annoying and irritating. If you have a solution for this do tell. Also although his abilities have a large range, the projectiles move very slowly, alot of prediction have to go into actually hitting an ability if you are trying to hit them from afar. Also any dashes or interuption of movement or burst of it can easily kill you because his e doesn't get any cd reduction, you can only reduce it with ability haste which makes early game a struggle to hit your e or die.
@@Deleted_userad Set up your turrets behind you so that you can retreat to them if you need to and farm with autos, harass with rockets. Then you can freeze and if your opponent starts hard pushing you have the turrets to reset it back to middle.
I have 301k points on heimer , I have been through a lot of hate for just using my q properly and outsmarting opponents.

Ever since, I have loved playing him and this video made me realize different perspectives and qualities of him. Somehow it was easier for me to get from mastery 6 to 7 this time compared to last preseason when the mythic items were straight up OP. But I went with the same liandry's+demonic build and still dealt tons of damage and I was wondering how it was so easy to get a S+ with just a 7/1 score because if I did the same thing on Teemo, I wouldn't even get an S lmao.
Burst Heimer can do something a bit more reliable than bush camping. Having a single turret down, grenading an enemy, and placing a second turret down while grenade is in the air can usually kill most squishys, and missles can finish them off if needed.
I have a friend otp himer and he is so good that in some point of the match the enemies try to scapes of him, and he just follow them trowing basics like a maniac

I primarily play Dota 2, but back around 2014 when I was in college, my friends kept nagging me to try LoL. (since I was the only Dota player in the group) So I tried playing with them and I had fun. This was the time where every team had a Ziggs and Teemo was the hot shit that everyone wanted to play. Then I came across Heimerdinger. Instantly loved playing him. Almost always played Heimer for I think about a year when an update came. Nerfed TF out of him. Seemed like I was using a new hero. Disappointed, I went back to DotA 2 and have never looked backed since. I still wonder if I should revisit LoL.

i didnt know what to do when people broke my turrets, so in my first game i destroyed a noob cassio but then in the next i got destroyed by a cretin yone just because i didnt know what my e did

No one plays him because his turrets are so squishy that it's essentially a dead spell past the midgame.
but thats changeable. you see, i full Q in early the game so that my turrets deal max dmg which keeps me safe in lane but also makes my W and E really weak. and i try to harass my enemy with this really low dmg trying to make them think that they can all in and kill me. well, they usualy do it and if im 6lvl, even with the jungler, two of em cant take me in turrets, cause if i stun them with my E in all 3 of the turrets, they are dead.

@@rdsasuke1 Yes but actually no. You can win lane easily with your turrets in the early game (especially if your opponent is melee) because heim is basically an early champ. You cant expect from him to become fckin nasus or kassadn n shit in the late game but his still strong, he doesnt have much burst dmg tho, except from his ult W obviously.
@@rdsasuke1 If you position your turret correctly, it's really hard to destroy the turret in a team fight since you must waste resources to do so. The turret can be as well placed in the backline, serving as 'home-base' for your team. You cant and should never use turret as an active engager - they are zoning tool, not diver. You also have poke and hard cc so it's hard for people to get close. However, since as you said, the turret are squishy, you must learn the team fight so you can make the most dps.

Heimer is actually very oppressive in lane . Me and my adc struggled against him SOLO
the full quote is "jack of all trades , master of none , is often better than a master of one" since its ideally better to be decent at many things than it is to specialize in a single thing and to completely suck at everything else, I only point this out since there's a general consensus that being a jack of all trades is a bad things and an insult when this couldn't be further from the truth.
I find Heimerdinger to be an annoying champion in the same way Teemo is annoying. I never feel like they outplayed me, they just exploited my impatience. If I get impatient against Teemo I will run into too many mushrooms and die. If I get impatient against Heimerdinger, I will walk into his turrets for too long and die. I just feel like I outplayed myself instead of them outplaying me. I could just decide not to engage in their territory and in that case they would be pretty weak.
Yes ur right to beat heimer it about patient but this patient is actually a high reward all u need to do is waiting until he does a bad move once he does that bad move u can punish him really hard I mostly play top lane from what I saw is that all heimer player even one I met he is mastery 7, 400k mastery points they have one unique tactic push ur lane really hard make u play under ur turret and they don't want u to farm once stuck at ur turret they will bait u by diving u and take some tower shot then they run to their turret they would expect you to follow them so if u follow them inside their territory their turrets will slow u and they will cast all their abilities on u and die from their turrets and minions but it never works on me so the best way to counter him is with champ that have a gab closer like vi or shen .....ect and for teemo he is actually weak I always destroy him with garen or warwick in top lane

yes R should be able to upgrade 1/2/3 abilities, as what if Q could do 5 turrets? what if u could choose in game what his abilities are set as, Q 1) more aa dmg + other stats no laser (battle), 2) as is (poke), 3) only laser an come fully charged (burst), W 1) 1 big rocket that drags him shortly behind can release in direction (poke), 2) shorter range auto target all shorter cd (battle), 3) as is (Burst), E 1) big one above head (battle), 2) can lob at Q turrets which can shoot it to others or location (poke), 3) charges it for more dmg/knockback (burst).

I know I'm late to the party but I've been retired from league for awhile but I quit because the repeat nerfs for years that heimer received. He just isn't viable as he used to or should. I have a lot of issues with what riot has done. Increasing the wait time for laser from 16 seconds to 90 seconds has no logical action besides to punish heimer. Most turrets will out level, be replaced, and heimer should never stay in a lane that long when it comes to a team fight game, when turtling at tower is only during 1-6 phase.
Heimer used to be a phenomenal jungler, only because his turrets could acquire laser stacks by auto attack, which in the past it was 5% per hit, on top of the 16 second load time. Now you can't do shit. Any enemy jungler with a brain will punish a heimer jungler or steal all buffs available.
Heimer used to be able to check bushes with his e(stun) and grant vision. Heimer has the worst escape kit out of most champions, and the 20% movespeed passive is meaningless if its not constantly hovering 100% of the time. This will punish all heimerdingers trying to help jungle or top/bot with ganking, assuming he always has 3 turrets available, which if you're playing against anybody good, you won't. And no heimerdinger can afford to lay down 3 turrets, while getting 1 shotted by a khazix or rengar. While using stun to survive with less than .1 second reaction time to live from bush checking, you gave up the only skill guaranteed to boost turret lasers.
If still available, go read how riot comes up with bullshit comments in the notes that are literally troll logic of "oh damn ya boy heimer way too strong", as kat was doing 4k damage aoe, ult 5 players in 3 seconds, with infinite cooldown, and still get 5 seasons worth of buffs.
Heimerdinger deserves more, not a mage carry, or solo pusher reduced to mediocre support role. To put in otherwords, to master heimer with his kit today, offers high risk with low reward with his low damage and awful scaling with abilities and stats. Any pentakill heimer has achieved by today standards is just kill steals and playing bronze players in high elo.
I loved his old kit before they reworked him, that and Banner of Command and ZZRot

They should give him back his 6 turret and make his ult last forever like how yorick did plus if enemies is out of range the turret will auto shot energy shoot. Since the energy shoot is easy to dodge it will constantly shoot it instead of his normal shoot when enemies out of turret range.
And since the energy shoot already shoot enemies out of range but only at max energy (50)which can be fix by making them using it with 5 energy only.
ngl I cant tell how many times the enemy jungler tried to gank me just to jump into my turrets and die to my empowered w and every time that happens they complain about how op my turrets are lol

Also not to mention when your whole team ints in a teamfight, Heimer has decent De-push to save your towers/base than most other supports would have.

I've mained Heimerdinger for awhile now (I'm not fantastic I'm silver ish if that but my Heimerdinger is level 7 with a little over 100k points) I do find this video very accurate of him and one of the "fixes" I'd like to see on him is to be able to pickup his turrets to be put down at a later time and also being able to set them all up at the same time in pre determined formations.
Also I would REALLY like to see a cat in the hat Heimerdinger skin with his turrets being Thing 1, 2, and 3

I really liked heim as character even played him quite a lot in season 3 and 4 bit sadly he totally useless nowadays, compare to other midlaners/toppers he is very risky pick with very low reward, overall not worth it, I consider him as troll pick right now, pretty sucks tho bcuz his design and concept of playstyle are really fun and interesting but unfortunately he is way too weak to take a risk of picking him, he really deserves massive buffs, enough said.

no one plays heimer because they are all playing scion, hoping someone else will pick heimer so they can do the best thing in the game- kicking heimer's turrets with scion. kicking that ult is the best thing in the game. joy of joys.
